I do feel there is a compromise that takes the advantages of both systems into account; Warbler and I independently came to the same conclusion, in fact. Just watched Star Wars with my girlfriend for the first time. She loved it. Remarkably not only has she never seen it but also knows nothing about it, not even the characters or story or themes. It’s such an amazing experience getting to watch it with somebody that is experiencing it with new unspoiled eyes and ears. Like she doesn’t even know that

She loves it. I had to make her promise not to Google the next one. This is an experience I honestly thought I would never get to have unless it was with a child. Never thought I would get to do this with an adult. I mean sure plenty of adults haven’t seen it but few don’t know at least some of the story bits.

Even when I first saw the movie, I thought that the journey to Luke should have been longer. After all, the map shows a lot of twists and turns, so I imagine there would be some obstacles and pit stops on the way to that remote island. I also thought of Indy and thought the concept would be great in a Ridiculous edit, but better for ANH or TESB. Show a hyperspace route, traveling from system to system with close-ups of Harrison Ford and the Falcon cross-fading in the background!
For what it’s worth, I also like the idea as a serious one for TFA. Admittedly, it does seem to contradict what’s been established, but again, perhaps it is an especially complex route as you said. I’m for it if you can make it work!
