Going away? Post so here!
Time

I agree, I'm sad to see you go and don't think you should step away permanently over one person.  Life is full of people we don't get along with, and we can't just drop everything over one person.  You can either learn to get along or learn to ignore.  That's what I have to do at my job almost daily.  If you need a break, that's fine, but don't make it permanent.

Last movie seen
Time

I watched The Dark Knight Rises for what I believe is my fourth time.  That movie has gotten better and better every time I watch it.  There are still a couple of nitpicks, but for the most part I don't see what the fuss is over most of the material.  If I could change only two things, the movie would probably not bother me at all: Bruce actually permanently defeats Bane, rather than Catwoman shooting him (I mean, I know we wanted him dead, and Batman has a no killing rule, but it should have been Batsy defeating him); the movie should have ended at Alfred's nod.  It would have been similar to the ending in Inception with the just faltering top, where we're pretty sure we know what the nod means, but we're not positive, and thus Batman's sacrifice isn't cheapened.  Other than that, I think the plot made perfect sense and anything that strayed from reality did it in the same context as the previous films.  These are still fiction, and even if they are "more realistic," that does not make them actually realistic.

I really, really love this movie!

How about a game of Japanese Chess, i.e. Shogi? Now playing Shogi4

Well, I'm sure a sacrifice was needed and that it could have been effectively pulled off.  I know I have had to make sacrifices and have come out on top as a result.  I'm sorry it didn't work out for you.

So, if you like, we can play a game of regular shogi.  I think the last game of Ito Shogi was perfect as to setup and pieces, although I am still open to creating variants.  The game we just played is, I believe, a well balanced and playable game.  I still want to try out one of the flying generals, probably the rook general.  But for now I'd like to try a different game.  Want to have a go at regular shogi?  We can also try self eliminator chess in the other thread.  But you have to promise to also let me have a game of chess with different armies after that one. ;)

Actually, I think I may still have you no matter what you do.  Gs*27 mate.  If you see a move to save yourself other than that last, let me know, but I'm not sure there is anything.

But I'm feeling kind of bad, like I talked you into making a sacrifice that cost you the game earlier on.  If you want to go back further, you can (I don't have the position saved and would have to play the game back to that point).  But if you have the position saved or are willing to go back to an earlier point, I'm okay with that.

You know, I'm still having thoughts about those flying generals.  I'm not positive, but it might be fun to have that be the promoted face of the silver cannon.  If so, it could be a powerful piece, but still not invulnerable, especially considering our current promotion rules (dropping only weak face up and alternating promotion/demotion, which means if one were to use it for a flying attack, it would immediately demote to the weaker face).  It might be useful for breaking up stalemate positions like we might have here.

Well, I will say that I'm now in a very defensive mode.  A tie is to my benefit.  The ball is in your court, as they say, and you might have to make a sacrifice to break through my defenses.  On the other hand, don't make a sacrifice that puts you behind.  If this game is really worthwhile and not just a lame attempt at a 1D game, there must be a way for you to break through.  Think it through, and I'm sure you'll find something.  Sorry I can't give a hint because I'm not sure what the secret is.  But you have a powerful weapon in hand.  You can probably afford to sacrifice something weaker for a better position.
