Hey I am just spitballing ideas here.

Er... maybe I'm campaigning for Vice Mayor of Crazy Town here, but I believe DrCrow is using a little thing called "hyperbole" to illustrate his point.

Yes, DrCrow seems very reasonable when discussing Star Trek, but it would not be hyperbole to say that there are times when he appears to be the founder of Crazy Town with his own statue in the square.

My daughter's birthday was the other day.  I have been trying to push Star Wars on my kids for years, and my now 5 year old daughter is actually accepting it better than my 7 year old boys.  So this year we found a used Princess Leia Barbie-type doll for her.  After playing with it for a few hours, my daughter peeked under her skirt.  Noting that Leia wasn't wearing any panties, my daughter asked me, "Daddy, how come Leia isn't wearing any underwear?"  I only barely resisted my immediate urge to respond, "There is no underwear in space."

It was hard having such a wonderful joke fall right into my lap and have no one to share it with. :(  That's why I'm so glad I have all of you nerds to hang with. :)

I'm a little sad that I haven't gotten like eighteen comments about how awesome this story is :(

How about a game of Japanese Chess, i.e. Shogi? Now playing Shogi4

Another challenge of this game is that while in chess I could let you guys duke it out while I sit back and come out ahead.  Here, you guys are trading pieces, and thus actually gaining more mobility as you fill up your cache.  Meanwhile I feel more stagnant.  I am having a challenge knowing what to do with each move, and I have so little time to look.  What's more, I have ideas on how to mate a king, but since checkmate is not victory until both kings are captured, I have to be careful because I don't want to trade valuable pieces for a king.  It puts me closer to victory, but at a material disadvantage which can be exploited and result in loss.  This rules are simpler than Kokusai Sannin Shogi, but it's pretty cool and complex nevertheless.

I think these sites really are partners in crime

I'd have probably phrased that ^ differently x-D

Welcome to any stray FE.org members by the way. Lots of similar movie obsessed types here too. Check out the amazing stuff going on in the 'Fan Edits, Preservation Efforts, and Other Fan Projects' Forum while you are here.

Such phrasing was completely intentional and hopefully slightly humorous ;)

As I posted in the other thread, I have mixed feelings. Some things I like, others I didn't, much I don't either like or dislike. The closer I looked, however, the more I liked what I saw. It seems there has been much attention to detail, including making things look used. I don't have much of a problem with the silly-looking droid, as long as it doesn't end up being the next Jar Jar. Camera shakes and whatnot are more a product of modern movie-making rather than J.J.'s personal style. I didn't like the voiceover much either, but naturally, that isn't any indication of the final product.

I'm neither excited nor disappointed by the teaser. I expect the movies to have their own style distinct from the PT and OT, but keep true to the OT in some aspects, while not ignoring the PT at the same time. I expect to enjoy the movie, but I think it's safe to say that it will not be a classic. The OT was classic, and it just cannot be done again within the same saga. The expectations and level of cynicism are too high nowadays, and it would be extremely difficult to capture the same balance found in the OT without being accused of copying the OT outright.

I don't know, some of it still seemed too clean to me.  The whole thing felt like a bit of a fan trailer.  I mean, some of those are pretty high production value, but they aren't the real Star Wars.  That said, it is only a little to go on and could be wonderful.  I just guess I really do belong at this site, where I have certain specific expectations of the Star Wars movies.  The teaser was impressive, but it just didn't feel Star Wars to me.  I hope I'm ultimately proved wrong, and I admit that I very well could be.

Well, there are downsides as well. I assure you, Praetorian, we have not coordinated elsewhere. This just turned out the way it did, which is a hazard of three player games. However, the risk to Ric and myself is present as well. In chess, you would simply be down more pieces than we would. But in shogi, opponents who gang up actually run the risk of giving the other more material than they get. For instance, at this point in the game, Ric and I are both attacking you, but I now have better material in my hand. Thus, if we continue to attack you, Ric will find that I will have an insurmountable advantage. It is wise not to gang up on opponents too long, else one find himself at the short end of the stick anyway.

Well, it did spoil any enthusiasm I held for the movie, that's for sure.

Almost completely agree.  PT-style soccer ball droid, ST09 camera shakes and flashes, LOTR-style voiceover...nothing about it felt OT.  The only difference between my feelings and yours is that I still retain hope for enjoyment.
