darklordoftech, I became extremely curious as to why you dislike Sith, red lightsbares and such?
Because they cheapen a lot of the characters and often feel out-of-place. Palaptine shouldn't be the product of an ancient lineage and the idea of two immortal factions who keep on going through the same motions over and over and yet continuing to believe it won't happen again makes no sense. As for red lightsabers, there's a lack of consistency as to when the Sith started using them. Some places imply that Palpatine started it while others have the Sith using red lightsabers thousands of years earlier.

I hate how KOTOR totally misinterpreted TOTJ. This is supposed to be an era before Darths and red lightsabers.
Let's not forget the technology. Ships and weapons and other various pieces of machinery were very crudely shaped, bulky looking, and dingy in TOTJ, yet only a generation or so later in KOTOR, everything's become streamlined and shiny like in the PT.
Correct.

It does not say he doesn't know what he's talking about. It says he's trying to impress them with misinformation. There's a fairly large difference there.
If Han knew what he was talking about, he would have used an accurate measurement, even for a "stupid attempt to impress them with misinformation".
The ANH screenplay explains that Han said "parsecs" because he doesn't know what he's talking about. The EU instead says that Han was less than 12 parsecs away from a black hole.
I think lightsabers were supposed to be heavier when ANH was made.
If it wasn't for the fact that Grevious shows that one doesn't need The Force, I would say that Maul and Grevious should have been the same character. Killing off a character and replacing them with such a similar character is bad storytelling.

At this point, should we start lobbying for the OOT to come out on 4K?
It will be a very interesting situation if 4K becomes standard and Disney refuses to release the OOT.
Also, what will become of the colors and lightsabers?
I can't wait for TFN's reaction if the term "padawan" isn't used.
Does anybody remember those theories about Palpatine being a clone of Sidious? TFN is definitely reminding me of them.

Excuse my ignorance, but what does "TOTJ" stand for?
Tales of the Jedi
I hate how KOTOR totally misinterpreted TOTJ. This is supposed to be an era before Darths and red lightsabers.
I hope that Episode VII takes some inspiration from ANH. ANH is a charming tale of fun and adventure and an underdog overcoming an "invincible" force.
I find a lot of the EU more enjoyable without "canon". For example, without the rest of the EU the Jedi Academy Trilogy is an entertaining story about Luke as a Jedi master. With "canon", however, you have the issue of what it means for the characters and how (in)significant everything is 20-120 years later.
I hope the Old Republic MMO is revealed to occur in an alternate continuity in which Palpatine was born 5000 years early and named Vitiate.
I hate Vitiate. He takes all of Palpatine's accomplishments, ideas, and symbols, and says, "Those were mine thousands of years earlier" and ruins the Republic's transformation into the Empire by making the Republic as we know it be a product of the Sith Empire's influence.
Was Palpatine supposed to have a lightsaber when ROTJ was made? I ask because Kasdan asked Lucas if Palpatine was a Jedi and Lucas responded by saying that anybody can use The Force.

This is a really interesting excerpt from the upcoming "Making of Return of the Jedi" book.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/22/star-wars-prequels-return-of-the-jedi_n_3313793.html
Interesting to just how different his plans were back then. It also destroys the argument of the prequel fans that they were planned out that way all along ( i bet they're going to love that ;) ).
So to summarise;
Yoda doesn't fight. He is more of a teacher.
NO MIDICHLORIANS
Jedi can love and marry.
ANYONE can learn to use the force if they are prepared to learn.Luke & Leia's mother was still alive until they were 2 years old
So they would have originally fit in pretty well with the OT.
Should of stuck to it.
Indeed they should have. I wonder if the interview is implying that Palpatine is a self-taught Force-user. If so, I wonder whether or not Palpatine was supposed to be a lightsaber wielder.

I still think Yoda having one at all is ridiculous, but this has been argued to death already.
I wasn't saying that Yoda should have a saber at all. Rather, I was saying that if Yoda has to have a saber, it should be a unique color.
No armies of lightsaber-wielders. Armies of lightsaber wielders look more like "glowstick raves" (to quote Bingowings) than like battles and they make lightsabers and their wielders generic.

Make Mace Windu's saber blue and Yoda's purple. That way Yoda is the one with the unique saber.
Even if you'd consider Yoda having a saber at all (ew ew ewwwwwwwww) why should anybody's be unique?
Because Yoda is supposed to be unique and the master of The Force as well as to moderate the effect of Yoda having a saber.

Even before reading Jay's comment, the sincerity of darklordoftech's reply struck me. I am convinced that he is not Sam. I simply suggest you use my thread differently, not because I own the Net or something, but because it was intended to just poke fun at the quirkiness of those who post over there. They take things very seriously and are very defensive of the PT. It was meant for lighthearted discussion about the people there, not about actual Star Wars canon or anything. As I indicated before, I suggest using the General Star Wars Discussion room for that. I started this in Off Topic because I'm not talking about Star Wars, but about Star Wars nerds (of a different breed, since obviously we are plenty nerdy and worthy of mockery ourselves). I am sorry to be so accusatory. I guess I'm pretty good at jumping the gun, and I truly apologize for being hurtful. I know I can seem mean-spirited sometimes, but I really do care about people's feelings.
I will use your thread correctly in the future. Thank you.

Plus, why should I be mad at George if Disney owns the Sw franchise? It's a buried hatchet.
I can't wait for the rise of the Disney bashers. If Disney doesn't ever release the OOT, it's bound to happen.

Regardless of who you are, it's pretty lame that you have a whole section of the forum you could use:
http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/forum.cfm/General-Star-Wars-Discussion/forum/2/
yet you think that you have more right to the original thread than I do. Obviously on the Internet no one really has rights to anything, but if there is any online honor code, you'd think it would go to the OP (likely to the original thread, not the ripoff). Sam, Sasha, Julio, or whoever you you, you're just plain weird.
I honestly believed I was using the thread exactly as you meant it to be used. You said it was about rediculous TFN posts, so I posted rediculous TFN posts. If I'm wrong, I sincerely apologize.
