I wonder who these people are:
I wonder who these people are:
Lightsabers were everywhere. They ceased to be interesting and Jedi became generic.
There's already a thread called "Jedi Council Forum Laughs", but it's OP is more interested in somebody called "Sam" than in the subject of the thread title, so I created a thread to talk about what that thread was supposed to be about.

I really wished that the public face of Palpatine in the films was the disguise and the ravaged face of the Emperor was his true self, rather than the reuslt of being scarred by his own force lightning in ROTJ
It should be simply a result of aging and dark side "side-effect".
In fact, that's exactly what The Making of Return of the Jedi (the book in which Lucas says that anybody can use The Force) says. Specifically, it says that he's an ancient man who uses the dark side to extend his life and his appearance is a result of that.

This writer knows what she/he is talking about. Of course, TFN acts like they're the underdog when in reality the opposite is true.

Getting over it would be like preferring the prequels over the OT.
Here's an idea...instead of getting over it, just stop repeating it. We all get it.
We also get how bad the Anakin/Padme romance is.

How exactly?
Both would be ignoring a horrible elaphant in the room.
Another thing I hate about the EU is its redundant characters. How many elite circles of Force-users does Palpatine have?

This is among the greatest posts in the history of forums. Palpatine getting scarred by lightning makes absolutely no sense at all.

Did Lucas intend the Jedi to be so stupid in the prequels or is Lucas himself actually as stupid as they are?
That Palpatine was revealed to be a Sith. Palpatine should follow his own ways, not those of an ancient cult.
Tack said: I like Tarkin
I believe Tarkin to be one of the most underrated Star Wars characters. He calls all the shots in ANH and was intended to outrank Vader in the good old days when the Empire was the ultimate evil, not the Sith.
Ryan McAvoy said: I think the choices of costumes for the OT 3 are actually not too far off the mark. Luke would be better in black but Leia in a Mon Mothma senate uniform seems about right.
Speaking of costumes, I don't want there to be any "rule" to Jedi clothing and/or lightsaber colors. Conformity isn't "good" and is boring.
They insist that the Sith can never be destroyed, yet they insist that the Jedi think that the Sith have been destroyed.
Is there anything (other than these people being in the movie) that would make my fellow originaltrilogy.com members walk out of the theater before the credits roll? I would walk out if the Jedi incorrectly think that the Sith are extinct again.

I just hope Disney is clear as to what the official canon is.
I hate the new DC comics. They 'rebooted' or something, and then say "WAIT AND SEE WHAT FROM THE LAST 70 YEARS IS OFFICIAL BACKSTORY!" as if that's an exciting selling point.
Wanting to know which of the guys who hang out with Batman used to be Robin isn't a fascinating plot point.
If I read a comic about the future of Star Wars, and I don't know if the "New Jedi Order" series happened or not is just confusing.
Well said. Canon is useless if it's unknown to the reader.
Oftentimes non-canon is better at capturing the essence and key components of a franchise.
DuracellEnergizer said: Canon kills the imagination -- why are so many people addicted to it?
That's exactly what I was trying to say.
DuracellEnergizer said: So just more of the same bullshit as before, only in different packaging.
I happen to agree on that as well.

Did....did you read the article? They're doing the exact opposite of that. From now on ALL new material is canon.
I read the article. I think it was talking about Movie canon vs. EU canon, which is a very different story from canon vs. non-canon.

Sounds to me like a complete EU reboot is in the works.
The TFN meltdown is going to be very entertaining.
Especially when Barriss shows up as a villain in Episode VII. ;)

It's better than the Sith returning.
Repeating the same thing over and over doesn't make it true.
It was always true.

I hate B'omarr monks. Can't a spider thing just be a spider thing?
So the spider thing's brain comes from a monk -- what's the big deal? It's not like this revelation undermines its characterization or anything.
The big deal is that the spider thing's brain was clearly meant to simply be a droid brain, not an organic brain. And the brain coming from a monk is an example of KJA's obsession with every little thing being ancient and awesome.
