I'm curious: Would you have done the rise of Palpatine differently or do you like it as it is?

The fact that one person engineered a galactic war and then was Galactic Emperor for 23 years seems pretty hard to ignore.

^ Sounds like the Illusive Man arguing for Cerberus.
"Cerberus is an idea, and that idea isn't so easily destroyed", or something close to that.
So true.
Rebels is too EU-friendly for my liking.
EU aside, I think that if any of the OT characters are to die, it would be Han.

the Empire had been suppressing the media and any and all information about the Jedi for at least his entire lifetime.
Wouldn't parents tell their children about Jedi and The Force? Wouldn't people wonder why they aren't allowed to speak of something?
I know, but I still feel how I feel. Do I speak for everybody when I say that Chewie shouldn't be dead in the sequel trilogy just because a book says he is?
They keep talking about how "Sith is an idea" and the Sith can never be destroyed. Factions have come and gone throughout history, and Sith is a sect, not an idea.
Any of it. I want the sequel trilogy to be no different than it would be if there wasn't a single bit of EU.
I found it interesting that Palpatine was supposed to be an ancient being who uses the Dark Side to stay alive, hence his appearance. Makes far more sense than the fried-by-lightning explanation for his appearance given in ROTS.
Is anybody else afraid of the EU influencing the sequel trilogy?
I absolutely hate the EU. It twists the meaning of the movies in every way it can. Worse, some fans seem to want the sequel trilogy to be consistent with it!!!!!!!!!! I would run out of the theater if the sequel trilogy is consistent with the EU.
