This Reddit thread is so fucking depressing. Why, you ask?

  1. The number of people convinced that the OUT was completely destroyed.

  2. The number of people who want some Frankenstein'sMonster-esque mishmash of OUT and SE.

  3. "Weren't the originals released on DVD in 2006?"... 'nuff said.

  4. The (surprising) number of people who think selling an LD->BD rip would be acceptable.

  5. The presence of the token "People still buy physical media???!" guy.

And, to a lesser extent...

  6. The obsession over the ownership of the distribution rights.

I don't expect everyone to be like us, but I just don't understand these people.

I'm going to bed. -_-

#2 is the worst. They seem to see the release of the OOT as a threat to the SEs.

Other than Jar Jar and midichlorians, what don't you want in episode 7?

What if a bunch of Force users decide to become Neo Imperials?

Then you're talking about a repeat of the prequels and who would want to see that?

The prequels don't involve Force users becoming Imperials. Wouldn't Force users becoming Neo Sith be more of a prequel repeat?

If it's that easy to become a Sith, wouldn't it be just as easy to become an Imperial?

If the Empire was supposed to be Space Nazis then their equivalent to a defunct Empire would be Space Neo Nazis/Space Skinheads.

Angry, militant cranks that don't have any power to create armies or wars.

The planet that all the evil British guys came from would be full of them. I figure whatever new Republic that sprang up after Return of the Jedi would keep that planet heavily sanctioned to avoid a repeat.

When you said about Neo Sith "the new practitioners shouldn't be able to get very far", were you saying the same thing about Neo Sith that you're saying here about Neo Imperials?

Fox doesn't own the Star Wars Trilogy right?

All of the attention will be on the new films anyway so they want everyone thinking about that new timeline and era with Rebels and not so concentrated on the OT.

The OT is iconic, and I doubt that Disney has any desire to change that. Also, people concentrating on the OT isn't going to prevent them from concentrating on the ST and Rebels.

They're skeptical of this, and I agree.  The distribution rights issues make it a real complicated situation.

If they don't do something about the distribution rights, all versions of ANH will go out of print in 2020, so whether or not Disney wants to release the OOT, they'll have to do something about the distribution rights by 2020.

This is what I always say about the Sith returning.

It's strange that so many people were torn up about losing the canonicity of post-Jedi EU like the Thrawn Trilogy, and yet there are people who are just as annoyed that the Empire is still alive and kicking when basically all post-Jedi EU included the Imperial Remnant in some form.

So true.

The worst is a group of TFN'ers who don't want the Empire to appear because they think that Star Wars should only be about Jedi and Sith.

Ugh. That really bums me out.

The Empire still around after getting soundly trounced thirty years ago.

Much like the Tatooine material I've seen, there's going to have to be a REALLY good explanation for this when the film comes out.

If America could survive the assassinations of Lincoln and Kennedy, I'm 100.100% sure the Galactic Empire could survive the vaporization of Palps.

P.S.: I'm glad the ending of ROTJ: SE is getting shat on. Lucas deserves it.

This, plus it's better than the Sith returning.
