The Blu-Rays are aging badly. Those lightsabers aren’t getting any better, the low brightness and blue tint make matte paintings stick out, and the 97/04 CGI is really dated, especially when superimposed on 77/80/83 films. Also, Abrams and Johnson both hate the SEs more than they hate the prequels and Holiday Special combined and the SEs would be inconsistent with a PT-avoiding VII, VIII, and IX.

I wish that instead of them waisting time on a last-minute, Palpatine-by-another-name CGI hologram, we just heard Snoke’s voice and Snoke’s appearance would be left to VIII or IX, where they would have more time to work on it and JJ “must rehash everything” Abrams wouldn’t ruin it.

GOUT is literally what we would have gotten if DVDs existed in 1995, so in terms of offical releases, I’d go with that.

In Tales of the Jedi, Onderon is ruled by a dark side - wielding family. Maybe the Palpatine family could be similar?

I like the idea of the true threat in TPM being from within Naboo in contrast to the external threat posed by the Trade Federation. Palpatine (and House Palpatine before he killed them off) could be seen as the serpent in the garden of Naboo. I also like the contrast between the innocent Padme and the evil Palpatine and the irony of Naboo the beautiful paradise being the source of evil.

I noticed some possible connections between the Sith and Naboo culture. Red seems to be a prominent color in Naboo culture, Amidala has advisors who wear robes similar to Sith robes, the planet core monsters bring Sithspawn to mind, and Palpatine is from Naboo. Furthermore, the Plagueis novel tells us that red is the color of House Palpatine and that House Palpatine is said to be one of the six gates that keeps chaos at bay. Also, the trivia gallery for a TCW episode says that Dooku’s hideout on Naboo is intended to suggest “a long-secreted Sith presence on Naboo.” I think it would have been awesome if the prequels developed a connection between Naboo and the Sith. Maybe House Palpatine could have a tradition of its patriarch training his heir to use the dark side. Maybe Sith fashion and lightsaber color tendencies could be products of Naboo culture.

(Keep in mind that I’m including all episodes of TCW in my rewritten universe) How about instead of the Trade Federation being responsible for the Invasion of Naboo, it’s Gungans who have joined the Separatists?

Perhaps the worst aspect of the Holiday Special is that props from Star Wars (1977) were mutilated for the production of Holiday Special.

We don’t know that. It’s possible that all the cells were empty except for Leia’s or that the other cells held Stormtroopers who showed up to work drunk.

The caped Imperial looks to be an Imperial Security Bureau officer (white shirt, black pants). I’d love a guide to Imperial officer uniforms.

For a reveal that the Jedi Order was founded to defeat Snoke, but Snoke corrupted one of the Jedi, and this corrupted Jedi then founded the Sith. Now that the Sith have been wiped out, Snoke has taken things back into his own hands.

Non-issues come in multiple directions?
