Yeah, I think Fellowship had a lot of DVR or something applied, because the resolution is very bad. Part of this has to do with the fact that it wasn't done as a DI or something like that. I've seen some screens and it didn't look very nice. I thought they corrected it though?

You must be thinking of the TE version, the EE versions that were just released do not suffer from this at all, not at all.

Right. But the TE version does, which was the original point, and so it stands. The EE is a separate release and a separate film. What's with all the defending of perfectly valid complaints?

Also, I did mean DNR, I just typed it wrong. I don't know if that's what the issue is, but I've the screenshots and the film looks pretty bad. The HD broadcast versions are more or less correct looking and show way more detail.

You are right, the TE version does, BUT, the original poster was talking about the newly released EE's, and defending valid complaints? The TE has nothing to do with what was said, I don't get it, well anyways, this surely is not SW related.

OK, I looked over what I wrote and if by defending, you mean me talking about the "supposed" fucked up color, you are right, I have the set and it was grossly exaggerated to say the least, read what I wrote in my other posts, all I am trying to say is give the new BD version of FoTR EE a chance, the color is great, we are not discussing the TE, never were.

edit - OK I thought you wrote DNR, which is a non issue on this set.

But I still say, watch it yourself, about 95% of the serious bitchers at bluray.com are now singing a different tune now that they watched it themselves.

LOL, you better do some more research, the color is not F'd up, there is a very, and I mean very slight green tint throughout, but if you go to Blu-ray.com and read what Ken Brown, Bill Hunt, Robert Harris, and others have to say, this IS the way PJ and Lesnie I believe the name is, want it, I just watched it last night and it looked FANTASTIC!

I was wondering how long it would be until that crowd made its way here, this BD EE Set is really, really nice, you will be amazed at how it looks if you just watch it yourself and not just believe everything you read.

Mono is sent to the centre channel because, being only one channel, it would be weird if it sent it to the left, or to the right. But in a theatrical setting, you aren't hearing it from one speaker at the front of the house. It is playing through many speakers so as to encompass the full room with front-facing sound. This is why, in a home theatre setting, it is appropriate to send it to all your forward-facing speakers, but namely the left and right which are accoustically positioned to fill your listening space.

I don't believe this is the case. A 1.0 mono soundtrack should play solely through the centre channel (on a film - mono music may be different). The centre channel is normally output by the centre speaker - unless your system doesn't have one, in which case a "phantom centre" is created by outputting the sound through both front left and right speakers.

I suppose it depends on room size to a degree. But again, in any sort of concert or theatre environment, there is no single centre speaker that provides audio for the entire room. Centre-default plays to the reality of one-channel audio, in that it is the most appropriate position if one speaker represents one channel, but it betrays the ideal listening experience. Your left and right speakers will be better manufactured as well, even if your centre channel is of high quality--the left and right are always the best speakers in the set-up, and the ones designed for the widest and furthest sound dispersal.

This is incorrect as well. The centre speaker is the most important speaker in a 5.1 set-up - it accounts for 50% of the soundtrack, as well as nearly all dialogue. It would not make sense to have the centre lesser specified than the front L & R speakers.

Thanks M, this is exactly how I understand it all to work as well, damn I was about to go up to Primetime here and start asking about my Home Theater set up LOL.

Sorry if this was already answered, but will the BDs be available for download too?

To be absolutely honest with you, I have no idea how I am going to do that yet, my only concern at the moment is just finishing this OT BD Set up and getting advanced copies to the donaters\testers, and most of all, the man that is doing my BD menu's, but I will figure something out at some point.

So do you know of any good movies, with a good mono track I could test out for the hell of it, I certainly can't think of any LOL.

Well for the record, my center is not small(or I should say weak, it is pretty powerful)and is a lot better than my old one I just upgraded from.

OK, here is a small update, just got an email, and it said, Jedi menu is DONE, he is burning a test disc on his end to look for errors, I should have it very shortly after, unless he finds something ofcourse, and then I will test it again on my end with the real files, so now I can finally see an end, then retire from this shit.

Thanks to all of you that donated blanks, your Sets should be on their way soon, and to those that are interested in this project and help keep the thread alive, take care and May The Force Be With You!

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

If it is an error on the source, then I would not bother, but if it is an error from encoding or something else I did(the creator) hell yea it should be fixed, but that is the way I am, not sure how Harmy is, because even if I didn't fix it, once it was brought to my attention by another member here, and then I confirmed it on my end, it would play on my mind, it would drive me nuts until I fixed it, even if I didn't release a new version, I would fix it, again, this is just how I work.

Well shit, than that is probably my issue then, I am basing what I know off the SW amateur made created mono mix, well this to me sounds like shit LOL, I know and respect that a lot of people here love it, hence why I include it in my releases, but for the life of me, I could not figure out why, because played on high end equipment(which I have now) it really does sound bad compared to our other choices.

So what Blu-ray, or maybe DVD's, I have not seen mono on Blu, or at least none I own I think, and I have 600+, but what DVD has good mono audio that I could test out?

See, and I am getting grief over this, and being told my system "sucks balls" when I have been sampling a mono audio that "sucks balls".

Thanks zombie for that post, but with my new receiver(granted it is still very new, I have NOT learned all with it yet) I have it set to straight, that gives me straight audio from the BD, receiver is not changing it in anyway, it just plays it the way it is directly on the BD, so I get beautiful DTS-HD MA 5.1 or Dolby TrueHD 5.1

When I go to my Star Wars BD(the Blu-ray Set I am currently working on) and switch to that 1 channel mono it plays out my center speaker alone, I am pretty sure no front left and right towers, I will check, but when I play a movie that has DD 2.0 mono, it plays out both front left and right towers and maybe the center as well, again, I will have to check, but I lose all my surround and subwoofer, and to me these are very important for great sound.

When I watch movies, I want to feel the rumble of the ships when they go by, I want to hear when an explosion happens behind me, and only behind me, I want to hear that ship go racing by on the left of the screen and hear it out of only that surround speaker and no other, mono audio does not do all that, and if you say it does, than I guess I need to do some research.

Damn, it is like if you don't share the same opinion around here anymore, you are the "bad guy".

LOL. You're the one over reacting to everything. A few people were merely trying to help you figure out why your system sucks balls at mono, and you claim they're making you the "bad guy".

Sucks balls LOL, you are a dick.

My opinion is I do not like mono audio, so there, WTF! why in the HELL would I want to limit myself to 1 channel when we have so many more now.

Yea, it is SUPER COOL! SUPER!

I have a center, and I have a front & left tower speaker, mono can either play out the center if it is 1.0 or out both my towers and not my center, either way I do not enjoy that audio at all, maybe if I was still watching on my old picture tube TV with no sound setup I would love it, all I am saying is with the setup I just spent a lot of money on, I want HD audio, is that wrong?

Damn, it is like if you don't share the same opinion around here anymore, you are the "bad guy".

Well on my new system 1 channel mono comes out just the center speaker

This is unfortunate

just like it is supposed to

Not necessarily. But obviously, given that this is the case, it makes 100% sense for you not like the mono-mix.

Also, you may want to use periods sometimes. I am really not sure what some of that post meant.

LMAO! Thank you professor, and if you can't read what I write, so be it, move to the next post.

Ignore works wonders here, you may want to use it.

I just recently upgraded ALL my speakers and receiver to take FULL advantage of ALL the sweet HD audio options on Blu-rays now, my God what an experience it has been so far...

I wish I could get that exciting about crap like this. I have a feeling my life would be much more blissful.

and like I also said, I am happy for those that like the sound of mono with there movies, that is great for them, I am glad you like it, but that is just waaaay to old school for me now.

It probably isn't intentional, but there is no small amount of an air of snobbery in this quote. Just in case you don't realize how you are coming off.

Whatever CP3S, you take it any friggin way you want to, no one can change that, I grew up watching the original trilogy in the Theaters, so I am not that young, but even I can move forward and accept the new tech. always leave it to someone to find something hidden in a message whether it was intended OR NOT, good for you, and thanks for pointing that out, whether intentional, or not.

Well on my new system 1 channel mono comes out just the center speaker just like it is supposed to, dual channel mono comes out my towers like it is supposed to, to my Family and I, we don't like either, but having it, I like, just for completeness is all, but I will never listen to it, not anymore, I want to be engulfed in my movies, I do not like that tin can sound at all, spent to much money on a very nice setup to want that anymore, like I said, I can't wait to hear this new BD Saga Set coming, I bet it is going to be very, very good sounding!

and like I also said, I am happy for those that like the sound of mono with there movies, that is great for them, I am glad you like it, but that is just waaaay to old school for me now.

Well, that is super cool that some of you really like these mono audio tracks, more power to you, but I just can't sit and watch a movie with a mono track on my system, not only would I bitch about it, but so would my Family LOL, who in the hell only wants to listen to audio out the center speaker ONLY? not us(my Family and I) I just recently upgraded ALL my speakers and receiver to take FULL advantage of ALL the sweet HD audio options on Blu-rays now, my God what an experience it has been so far, we just watched both Transformer movies to get ready for the third and damn does it sound like you are right there fighting along side Optimus, I can't believe all I was missing, even on my Star Wars BD25, I just can't watch it with the mono track, it just sux, at least to me.

OH, and I can't wait to hear the HD audio on this Saga Set coming in Sept.!
