Well there is a lot of truth to that. Most people, even if they recognize that the PT is bad, still like them to some extent.

I find all the flaws in the PT endearing to some extent. I still watch them on occasion. Of its star wars related in any way I will watch it. I dislike some of them, but to me, it’s all about taking in everything star wars related.

But you are right, the Alamo does make a point to show actual film when they can (I’ve been lucky to see a number of 35mm prints for other films there). I really do hope this OT roadshow will be 35mm, but somehow I doubt it. For one, as someone pointed out they’d have to have multiple prints based on the schedule. For two, they’d have to lug around a bunch of big, unwieldy, and (becoming) rare 35mm projectors to unusual locations when their normal roadshows are all digital from what I understand.

For what its worth, the locations they had on their schedule (when there was one) seemed to be all arthouse type venues, so they probably all did still have film projectors.

The extras on the bluray had someone calling him that, i can’t recall who though. So lucasfilm didn’t nail it down right away it seems like.

So the Alamo has removed any mention of the roadshow on their website. I emailed my local Alamo, and they said that they might’ve removed the announcement because there was confusion on whether or not the movies would be shown in Alamo theater or in other, bigger venues.

i hope that is the reason, and not any sinister LucasFilmness.

Perhaps the response was so much larger than they expected that they are rethinking the way they are handling this?

i believe the status is “completed but not blessed”, so presumably Harmy will give some sort of “Prepare my ship” statement and then it will be released widely.

As someone who read the hobbit many times as a d, and watched that animated movie several times, I was more annoyed by the story changes than I was by anything else.

The first one (as I sat in the theater) started disappointing me right around the cave troll scene when gandalf showed up to save the day. Bilbo was the one who solved it, thereby gaining the respect of the dwarves.

Now if they would just do the hobbit as a more faithful adaptation that would be excellent, but won’t happen for 10 years

I also really liked enders game the movie, my only wish was that they had made it a two part movie, and included more of the plot from the book like Locke and Demosthenes.

Ender too little, but good. Hobbit way way way too much, some good lost in a lot of meh and sigh.

Spectre - B for better than i expected, but not as good as Daniel Craigs first bond film, Casino Royal, which sadly i lost my dvd of.

bond movies never overly excite though, you always know what you are going to get. thats why i redboxed it.

You could say that SW and ROTJ are pretty much popcorn films too. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. Star Wars are fun space movies with a bit of depth to them and that’s all you need to make a good one.

Well OT has a lot of depth. TFA felt completely empty. I would say, while annoying, at least PT had more depth than TFA.

Well, they have a DC and NY showing on the same day, and given that the run-time per film is about 2 hours …

I pre ordered the Steelbook since I had the Steelbooks for the other 6 films. It’s not a perfect match, particularly the spine, but I do like having Kylo on the cover . And the title on the front is debossed as on the other Steelbooks. While I like the Captain Phasma artwork on the back, I would have preferred the poster artwork as on the other releases, though Attack of the Clones has a strange green tint I guess to reflect Yoda’s green lightsaber on the front. I guess at some point we’ll get a Snoke cover for one of the other episodes.
