OT Special Editions to have USA Roadshow Summer '16

I think people who defend the 97 either do so out of nostalgia (if they were young when it came out or first saw the movies on a 97 VHS or something) or just because it’s older and has also been superseded by subsequent versions. Therefore it has some of that “I can’t have it, therefore it’s better” appeal due to its unavailability.

i am in the camp of those who first saw the 97 SE and that was all i saw for years. so yes, for me it is very much nostalgia as it was the only version i knew for a long time. if it was the first version you saw, i think you would feel much the same would you not?

You can’t fight nostalgia, or convince someone that they shouldn’t have it.

Rare? The OT was last available in theaters last December.

Not on 35mm. Plus I think that was even more limited than this.

I don’t think it was. Even Regal was showing it.

Really? Huh, it wasn’t in my area.

yeah, theaters near me showed all 6 films in the lead up to TFA. if Alamo wants to call this rare, they are either pathetically misinformed, or it needs to be something like the 97SE which hasn’t been seen in quite some time.

Well… Yeah. That’s exactly what it is.

i think we are agreeing with each other. i am pretty sure this is a legit rare event.

To find it, try the instruction on p.596 of Harmy’s thread here,
or the first post in that thread.

Is there a MD5 value available for this 2.7 release?

There’s a CRC value in the rar header:

hint: you wont get any links so stop asking, it is against site policies

The Original Trilogy restored from 35mm prints (a WIP)

wre you thinking of having one name for all three projects, or a separate name for each? my preference would be one name for all three as it ties them together. are these all the same film stock? if they are all eastman for example i think that could be part of the name. PET: poita’s eastman trilogy. i know you said your name doesn’t have to be part of this, but i think it is how most of us are altready thinking of it, so it seems natural.

THX on 35mm Tech IB preservation - HELP NEEDED (work in progress)
Time

I am pretty sure poita is sending a preview to those who offered to help spot glitches. I didn’t offer to do that because I know I don’t have the time right now, and I don’t know the film that well either.

If you are offering to help with visual QC then I would think someone would share the link with you.

Hm, i kinda like that name, wish i wouldn’t have to drop the f-bomb to explain it to people in polite company, but the expression probably sums up most forum users feelings on the matter.

That Empire sample is not bad! i am curios, there are various flickering lines on the console of luke’s snowspeeder, is that in the print or from the deflicker routines? (in the color shot, it looks like they are red lines that come and go, most noticable in the large black vertical block next to the round gauge (Directly below the atat)
