Those kind of space stations have been around in SciFi paintings since at least the 50’s. I think it was a homage. But let’s be honest, a warp core breach is going to be bad no matter where you park your starship. 😉

Hah, yeah. the first thought i had when the ship was entering the docking bay was ‘what if they have to eject the warp core?’ I did think it a very pretty space station…

I honestly didn’t notice any shaky cam, which is weird, as I’m usually easily made ill by it, even more when it’s migraine season.

My wife had to look away at a few points it bothered her so much.

I thought the earlier two films were much worse with the shaky cam.

yeah it didn’t stand out to me in this one either, but maybe i am just more used to it now?

Star Trek Beyond (2016)

Ugh, so disappointing. There were some good parts, but overall it was meh to annoying. Way too much action, especially because it was all shaky-cam and confusing closeup choreography. Idris Elba was completely wasted in this film, unfortunately. And it was too long. One of those movies where I kept hoping it would get better but it never really did.

5.9/10

I saw this earlier in the week. I didn’t have high hopes, and i wasn’t dispointed. It was enjoyable to watch, but i don’t see a whole lot appeal in watching it again (anytime soon). Everything about the villain just doesn’t make sense. And the outpost is ‘sci-fi pretty’, but makes no sense. why would you build all of your living quarters around the most dangerous part: the launch/docking tubes where space ships (which usually suffer catastrophic failures in ST films) are coming and going? The city planner should be sacked. I prefer my Star Trek to be the more ‘cerebral sci-fi’, enough so that it isn’t always entertaining. meh, i always preferred the various TV series over the movies anyway (over ANY of the movies)

We and Impscum were discussing whether we think ROTJ is on par with SW and ESB so it fits. Also let’s be honest without this conversation me and him are having this thread would have faded into obscurity again because actual discussion about Star Wars is at an all time low on here

hey, nothing wrong with wanting to promote new dialog. but it seems like certain users get into the same back and forth in various threads here, and lets be honest, the walls of each quoted sentence gets a bit pedantic and old, and probably makes it even harder for others to join in the dialog, which makes it a two person argument, which isn’t the best dialog for a forum. but all i know is that is how i feel about it, i don’t claim to represent others.

different prequel versions? what to watch?
Time

If it was me, i would probably choose an official release for first viewing. It pays to know the official story, not really sold on any fanedits that i have heard of so far (other than as a curiosity, but you need to know the original works first).

I recently got the Blu-rays of these (already had all the dvds), and TPM is really kinda ugly on blu-ray, the DVD is probably the best release of it. the other two seemed fine on blu-ray to me.

AFAIK, only one set of dvd releases, and then one set of blu-ray releases.

hello good morning , my name is Jesus , it seems a spectacular job , mipregunta is where I download the ISO image Star_Wars_SSE_TN1_v1_6 , thank you and sorry for the inconvenience.
a greeting

On myspleen. But you’ll need an invite first, if you haven’t one already.

The ISO is only on usenet, not on myspleen. There is an MKV based on the ISO that is on myspleen, though.

I’m looking at a link for the ISO on myspleen at this very moment. It says it was added on June 18.

yes, the 1.5 iso got pulled from myspleen, but the 1.6 is there.

Was the replacement ANH crawl ever finalized? I think I’ve only got the first version prior to everyone tweaking the color and making improvements. Just wondering so I can go ahead and burn the disc. 😃

Yeah I am in the same boat. It seems this project might have lost steam with the other things Williarob is getting involved with. But it would be nice to know for sure before burning my disc 😃

What type of DVD labels should I use?
Time

you should not use adhesive disc labels, but instead use inkjet printable discs, with a direct-to-disc capable inkjet printer. or thermal printable discs with a thermal printer, but that is more expensive.

I know adhesive disc labels seem like an easy solution, but they can cause all kinds of issues, affecting both the devices used to play the discs, and the longevity of the discs themselves.

I didn’t make this, I just Googled “Alderaan inside job”.
(I think it’s a reference to 911 conspiracy theories.)

gotcha.

Specifically the phrase “Jet fuel can’t melt steel beams”. If that doesn’t ring a bell perhaps you’ve heard the phrase “Jet fuel can’t melt dank memes”

well, if its a conspiracy then:

If you downloaded the first version of the ROTJ BD50 disc, and want to get the new HD menu without downloading another 50 GB (perhaps you have a monthly cap or something like that), i have a way you can download just 200+ MB and convert the original download into the updated one!

i used xdelta to create a binary diff of the two files (http://xdelta.org/).
this is how i created it it:
xdelta3 -9 -S lzma -B 2000000000 -W 16777216 -I 0 -P 16777216 -e -s "Return of the Jedi Despecialized BD50.iso.old" "Return of the Jedi Despecialized BD50.iso" "Return of the Jedi Despecialized BD50.xdelta"

you can find this on most linux repos (and via macports), and get windows binaries here: https://github.com/jmacd/xdelta-gpl/releases/tag/v3.0.11

to apply the diff/delta, you need the original iso (renamed to .old), plus my patch file which you can get here: https://mega.nz/#F!Eo5kDLZA!RN2auJSFvwoTZv9kv7U5oA

xdelta3 -d -s "Return of the Jedi Despecialized BD50.iso.old" "Return of the Jedi Despecialized BD50.xdelta" "Return of the Jedi Despecialized BD50.iso"

this should get you the updated file (sha256sum):
819e30e6ddf616a95e0818dfa86f3fecc0b3014b27cbc4189fac3f08856eb87d Return of the Jedi Despecialized BD50.iso

Does anyone still have the original ISO around and willing to verify that this works for them (i know it works for me, but i am wanting to make sure the process is easy for others before suggesting this to users on myspleen who downloaded the first BD50 iso).

Project Threepio (Star Wars OOT subtitles)

[…] it was a manual process–I had to babysit every single subtitle file I rendered.

Now we’re using Pango, a modern text renderer without any known limitations that would hamper Project Threepio’s further language expansion – and it’s scripted, so I can render subtitles while I sleep […]

So what new things are you going to tackle with all this new free time 😉

in all seriousness, thanks for yet another updated release. so many people benefit from this project (certainly i do), and we usually don’t even think about it, it works so well!

its not because you are stupid, its because markdown is arcane.
