To be honest, Kylo’s interrogation of Rey is not as disturbing as what Spock did to Valeris in Star Trek VI.

I’m not a Trek fan so I’m going to need some context.

Well, like Kylo in TFA, Spock forcibly reads someone’s mind in ST VI. The overall scene is a bit creepy. And unlike TFA this film is a lot less subtle about the fact hat it’s supposed to be quite violating.

Here’s the scene btw; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1NgX-w54RY

I’m sure Spock did what he did for a good reason. Kylo on the other hand read Rey’s to not only locate Skywalker but because he could. There was no reason to look for the negative emotions and memories she harbors in her mind or how she felt that Han could be the Father she never had.

Oh sure, it was a matter of life and death for potentially millions, and the clock was ticking, etc, etc (last act stuff). My point was just that the scene was a little more “blunt” about it than the one in TFA.

I think the only thing that makes it more blunt is that Spock is physically touching her as he’s probing her mind.

Well, that, and the fact that if you have watched Trek, Spock has himself stated that reading someone’s mind without their permission is a major no-no. so seeing him then violate that, it is clear that he is violating boundaries. I don’t know if anyone in Star Wars has ever made the case that reading someones mind without permission is a boundary you don’t cross. So that makes the ST scene play differently than the TFA one.

I’m sure Star Wars has some cool beers. I’d like to go on a Beer Tour of the Outer Rim.

i don’t know. most of the star wars beers are neither light nor dark. more of a blue. now if they were sours… :p

I would drink a blue beer. People lap up that green crap around St. Patrick’s Day so I imagine it can’t be much worse than that.

Think of all the crazy alien hops and grains!

I concede that i do agree with your first point, it would be awesome to do a outer rim Beer Tour. sign me up.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from this movie it’s that fucking NOBODY has any clue that the Bothan line is about the Second Death Star. Even people I’d count as nerds.

Holy crap. How do people not know?

well, as someone who made that mistake, i would claim the fact that the longer you live, the more you realize that you know less than you used to think you did. I love star wars, but know more about many other things.

I can’t help but wonder what Vader is thinking in this shot: Wasn’t it Tarken who was in this position before? - watching the orbit of the death star to be ready to destroy the rebel base. that is what this is right? Certainly Vader can’t be feeling too impressed by the death star weapon, or perhaps he is, and this is the moment that caused him to loose faith in technology (did he ever have it) and lead him to not care about the death star power in ANH.

Thoughts? i could be really off base here.

I don’t see how that could be a readout of the Rebel Base (e.g. Yavin). It’s probably Scarif as that’s most likely to be the last planet the DS will orbit in RO.

As for he’s thinking, no clue. Although I personally don’t think he ever lost faith in the DS, I’m pretty sure he never had it.

to clarify, i didn’t mean he was literally in the exact same position as Tarkin IE Yavin base. i was thinking this might be them targeting Jedha?

This guy is most likely just a background character, but I none-the-less noticed that he has no head.
I first thought it was just a combination of the camera angle and his stance, but the white thing on his shoulders, which I at first thought was a collar of some kind, actually rotates (kind of like R2’s dome-head) and it has antennaes sticking out of it. So I guess this guy’s a cyborg?
We’ve obviously had cyborgs in the movies with Vader, as well as Lobot, and perhaps some pther background characters that I can’t remember right now, but I’ve yet to see someone either in the movies or the EU (both of them) that was missing a head.

Or it’s just the camera angle and his stance. I was friends with a cyborg for a while and he stood with his head down all the time.

nothing against your friend (i think? is my response even insulting or referring to your friend in any way? better to be safe and stay on the good side of cyborgs), but it certainly seems like this guy does not have a normal human head/neck. given the ‘police’ lights on his back, it would seem to make sense that he is an unthinking enforcer of some sort.

also, removing heads digitally was harder in the OT times.

Glad you found it 😃

Has anyone here had issues burning the Star Wars Despecialized 50GB to disc? A few people over at Myspleen have been saying it’s been a problem.

I know for certain that some of you have burned the file without a problem, so would be good to figure out where the issue lies.

FYI, one of these people tried downloading the MEGA version and had the same issue, so it’s not just the myspleen torrent that is faulty.

I burned ANH 50GB and ESB 50GB and had zero issues. i haven’t burned ROTJ 50GB yet. i would blame cheap media before i would blame your files.
