Another good episode this week (yesterday). really good story line going on. I do wonder if it bothers anyone to see two non-force users doing decent dueling with lightsabers. It didn’t really bother me, as i think it helps the show, in that it helps to develop the essence of being a Jedi beyond just being good with a lightsaber.

Interesting, but I am not sure if the characterization of basement dwellers is true or helpful. But certainly interesting, it’s the first time I have heard reference to the Trump voter who knows they are losing and wants to “turn into the skid” as the author kept stating. I haven’t seen these types of people in my experience, so I can’t help but doubt they exist.

I enjoyed La La Land. Found it quite charming but I don’t think it quite deserves all of the lavish praise it’s been getting.
This is probably because I went on a Fred Astaire binge a couple years back, but I found La La Land’s execution quite clumsy a lot of the time.
It was a decent effort and I hope it leads to at least a small revival of the genre. Though hopefully they’ll strive to match the artistry and skill of the past in the future.
Just saw it last night with my wife, and I would say we both thought it was really great and fun, but not as good as everyone seemed to make it sound. I felt like the singing and overall choreography for the first few scenes felt clumsy and not very professional, but the movie picked up and had some really great moments.
I am interested as well.

It just dawned on me that Vader’s confrontation with Ahsoka is only 7 years before RotJ. He ages a ton in those 7 years.
I think having the young, unscarred face behind the mask was an artistic license so that we get the emotional response we want from Ashoka.

Immigration laws are there for a reason, yes, and I agree with the reason. But breaking them is not so heinous a crime as murder or rape, or even assault or theft. Saying it’s their fault for being stigmatized is just blaming the victim. These people have lived a tough life. Do you think it was easy for them to leave their country and come here? Just because they broke the law doesn’t mean we should treat them like criminals. I would say that yes you are falling into a trap of rigidity of thought and making blanket judgements. I break the law nearly every day by jaywalking but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be allowed to cross the street. And so why deportation can be such an overly harsh punishment. When I say these people are citizens of the land they call home, I mean just because they don’t have papers doesn’t mean they don’t live here. That woman who was deported has lived in America longer than I have. But she wasn’t as fortunate as I.
