With regards to the DS being able to use a hyperdrive. I am stunned that people think it wouldn’t. Space is really, really big…I mean, really big. For the DS to not be able to fly at lightspeed would render it completely useless for striking fear into the galaxy.

Fantastic beasts was a terrible film. Saw it show up on Amazon prime or Netflix or something and gave it a watch. I don’t think I finished it.
Seems like a bunch of big-name actors we’re excited by the idea of being in the next Harry Potter franchise. CGI was pretty terrible and the film relied heavily upon it. But that’s just what I remember I have no intention of seeing it again to determine if my accusations are just.

Rush- Subtle as a sledgehammer but totally exhilarating sports drama from director Ron Howard about a real-life 1970s Formula One rivalry. Terrific performances all around, exciting supercharged racing sequences, and an smart, if not subtle screenplay from Peter Morgan. Special shout-out to cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle, helping Howard shoot digital for the first time. Some spectacular camera work, and Morgan’s script teases out interesting ideas about celebrity, competition, desire, and obsession. Good stuff.

Don’t do drugs without being informed and aware about what you’re doing beforehand, if you’re in any way unsure that what you’re taking might not be exactly “what’s on the label,” or if you expect to be able to do them without any risk of negative consequences.
Stay the hell away from heroin, the number of people getting 100% fentanyl, and dieing, is sadly quite high.

Spider-Man: Homecoming
Meh. Better than the other Spider-Man movies, but only a little bit. I only watched it to catch up on the marvel movies before the next few movies.
4/10 I think. Maybe 5/10. Not terrible, just certainly not for me.

I agree, though. Getting seamless branching working (thanks again, Williarob) was a challenge enough. Getting a BD-J disc authored and working would be a nightmare, as cool as those picture-in-picture features are.
I think PiP doesn’t need BD-J, since the Japanese Studio Ghibli Blu-rays have no BD-J and they have PiP features in the Storyboards (essentially watch the workprint version of the film where it’s entirely storyboards) and the discs are not BD-J.
The PiP feature in the Storyboards in the Japanese Ghibli Blu-rays is that the workprint takes up the entire screen, you can choose whether the final film can be seen in a smaller window and you can even choose which corner to put the final film’s window.
The US Ghibli Blu-rays, however, don’t have the PiP feature for the workprint storyboards.
And while most people don’t like watching the workprint feature which is a standard for most Ghibli releases, I actually love watching the storyboard versions. I love watching workprints of films, and I really love it when they include a workprint as an extra on the official Blu-ray or DVD.
But I’m getting sidetracked. What I’m saying is that if the Ghibli Blu-rays to get PiP working without BD-J, then it’s theoretically possible for most.
Sounds like true PIP then, and not just burned in? Very cool.

You’re also under no obligation to steal Ric Olie’s thunder, and yet here you are.
If art is subjective, and I already said my opinion of the film was subjective, why then do you guys feel obligated to contradict me or say my preferences are in bad taste? Apparently having to defend my position is not a Captain Obvious move if people are telling me my initial reasoning is flawed.
But you gave nonsense reasons as to why you didn’t like it. Saying the movie is bad because you don’t know the name of a character for 20-something minutes is absurd.
First, I did initially just only say I hated it. And from my perspective, it’s absurd that I can’t give my own personal reasons why I subjectively didn’t like it and not be told that my reasons are absurd. I wasn’t expecting it to be bad. I wasn’t grasping at straws to hate it. I just remember walking out of the theatre after it was over and ticking off the things I didn’t like about it, and the reasons I gave now were those things. They’re not nonsense to me, and you don’t have to agree, but I feel the reaction to my talking about it, (eg. saying my opinion is nonsense or absurd) is stronger in tone than is warranted.
In other words, you tell me that I could just say “It’s not for me” and leave it at that; but conversely when I give my opinion, you could just say you don’t agree and also leave it at that. So maybe I did too easily take offense, I’ll admit that. But I don’t feel blame falls solely on my own shoulders.
