I dont even that much at the moment. š¦
I dont even that much at the moment. š¦
Where is this gonna be posted once completed??
Depends. If it was a year Ive already experienced Id say 1998. A year I havent? Well anytime between 1975 and 1990 could be cool.
The posting of the videoās gonna have to be pushed back a week or so so I can upgrade to Vimeo Pro. Believe it or not the video is about 18 minutes! (yikes!) And unfortunately its too big a file for my limited 500mb/week storage on Vimeo. Once I upgrade Iāll post it. I even tried cutting it down and thought maybe Iād post it in parts however if I do that Iām gonna have like 7 videos posted! May as well wait and upgrade! TBC!
Just checked my DVD. Yep it has the orange tennis ball. Crap. At the moment The Shiningās no longer on Netflix so couldnt check that.
This week Iāll try to essemble a comparison video so everyone knows. š
Iāll have to check that tennis ball shot since I have the 2 disc DVD. Since it came out about if not the same time as the BD itās probably the pink one (damn). Iāll have to check the Netflix print as well.
Dialogue on VHS (likely LD as well)
Mary: Listen buster. You wonāt get four blocks in this neighborhood dressed like that.
Michael: Please??
Mary: No and that is final.
Michael: All the guys are.
I have the 1996 VHS and itās like this. It also was like this when I saw it on TV about a month ago. Iām gonna assume most if not all pre-2002 releases lack the āterroristā line but then again Iāve never checked the LD versions and sadly I canāt. I donāt have a LD player š¦. Additionally was this line in the movie theatrically or just cut from home video and TV airings???
More interesting things I found on IMDB
On the VHS version when E.T. is watching the Tom and Jerry cartoon, he gasps and starts yelling. The original version and 20th anniversary have him scream like heās scared after the gasp.
In the original theatrical release of this film, in the scene where E.T. is drinking and getting Elliot drunk, Elliot used chalk and began drawing on thin air. This scene was later cut from video and subsequent theatrical releases, but is pictured in The E.T. Storybook.
In the original cut, Elliot and his mom go to the principal after the frog incident. The principal was played by Harrison Ford, the screenwriterās husband. Allegedly the scene was cut because too much attention was brought to Ford, and not to the scene. The scene is not restored in the 2002 edition.
In the original VHS copy of the movie (the classic black and green plastic) as well as television broadcasts, the now infamous terrorist line was simply supplanted with āYou canāt get dressed up like THATā and not the terrorist line OR the hippie line of the 20th anniversary edition.
The first thing listed here is what I meant by the āscreamā added to the 20th Anniversary mix but now crossed over to the theatrical cut mix. I think all VHS copies lack the āterroristā line. I have the 1988 and 1996 editions and both lack the line. Interestingly most TV airings even today use the mix that was used on the VHS editions.

I just checked the 2012 DVD and compared it to the 2002 DVD hereās what I founda bump when E.T. hits the car in the beginning (Both)
Spaceship take off (sounds the same to me possibly more of a hum in 2012 very minute)
E.T.'s scream (same for both)
Michael says shit (Both)
no birds fluttering (Both)
Mary tells Michael heās not going as a terrorist (Both)
the DNA line is āHeās got DNA, he doesnāt have 4 nucliotides like we do he has 6ā in 2012, in 2002 its āHeās got DNA, Im positiveā (Changed)
Radio Static (2002 only)
Michael does not say āshitā in the 20th anniversary cut. However on the 2002 DVD of the theatrical cut and the 2012 BD he does say āshitā. The 2012 DNA line is also from the 2002 Anniversary cut yet the 2002 DVD of the original cut has the original line. Some of the other instances you noted where it sounds the same in both may not apply to some VHS/LD releases of the theatrical cut.
The BD apparently includes a 2.0 mix which according to some on blu-ray.com is the original mix.
There were some new sounds added to the 20th anniversary cut that have actually made it into the mix now used for the theatrical cut but not all. Some of these fit, some dont. Iāll try to give a rough list of what they are. Might need some double clarification or elaboration on this.
A ābumpā noise added when E.T. rushes past the van when the Feds spot him, likely him bumping against the vanās grill as he rushes away. Now included in the theatrical cut.
Extra flash noises as the mothership flies by in the air. Now included in the theatrical cut.
E.T. hopping to his feet, followed by the fluttering away of non-existent birds, and the sound of E.T.'s feet as he advances toward the town. Now included in the theatrical cut, which makes no sense since these dont fit the action depicted in the original cut.
The word āshitā is cut when Michael is at the fridge and sings the line ānothing but health shitā.
Extra āscreamā when E.T. is scared by the Tom and Jerry cartoon. Now included in the theatrical cut.
Mary tells Michael heās not going out as a hippie instead of terrorist.
Alternate ADR added to the medical scene(s). The dialogue about E.T. having DNA is completely different and has new lines. The 2002 DVD of the theatrical cut has the original dialogue while the ānewā dialogue is included on the 2012 BD/DVD.
Radio static added to the scene where Mary and the feds approach the abandoned van. Included on the 2002 DVD of the theatrical cut but removed for the 2012 DVD/BD.
Whhhyyy??? Five years later we still donāt have an answer.
Removal of matte lines. The sabers during the Vader vs Ben duel was also nice. Just adjust the instances where Bens saber is purple
Ok I will go through this step by step again. The pre-1995 video releases features a different song being played for a bulk of the beach scene where the kid on the raft is killed. This explains the āSome Music Rescoredā notification on some of the video covers. Heres something I didnt mention before but Iāll mention now. I have two copies of the 1991 VHS. One actually uses the same content as the 1980ās VHS edition and has poor image quality. The second uses a print thats much more improved. Both tapes have the ārescoredā track although the āimprovedā version has certain sound effects/dialogue that are more present in the mix. I wont say what these were because I already have a few times in this thread.
The 1995 VHS/LD uses what was essentially the mono used on the āimprovedā 1991 VHS but actually features the restored beach song. The 2000 VHS/DVD replaces the mono with the stereo remix which angered fans who preferred the mono. Fortunately the 2005 DVD included both mixes. The mono on that release sounds similar to the pre-1991 mix but has the restored beach song. The track on the BD is essentially the same as this but had a few āflawsā. I had already mentioned what those were before so I wont again.
As far as I know the digitally altered shots arent included but the deleted scene in the bathroom has the digital enhancements
The Deleted Scenes added to the Anniversary cut are actually on the BD bonus features and appear as they did in said cut so it should be fairly easy to reinsert those shots.
Anyone have any Full Screen versions of RoboCop?? I think the closest theres been DVD wise was the Criterion DVD, which I have, but was still Widescreen. Forgive me if this has been asked already. This is actually a movie I for some reason prefer open matte.
Does anyone have the ROTJ orignal poster artwork but with the smaller Lando?? The version on the LD cover and a few VHS covers.
A while back I considered suggesting a preservation for this. Hope to see it done. I prefer the theatrical cut but I wouldnāt mind having this.
Well, at least we know we wonāt see a proper version within the year: http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/04/12/star-wars-original-trilogy-heading-back-to-theaters
I donāt see how one confirms the other.
I suppose it doesnāt necessarily, but wouldnāt if they were to release a restoration this year, why would they bother even showing the 97 version?
Because the restoration isnāt ready?
Because nostalgia?
Because jerks?
Because money?
Because Jabba-lovers?
Because 1997 was the year of the Beast?
Because I can keep going?
You forgot because Greedo shot first
Each release has its differences. The pre-1995 video releases feature the mono but with the replaced song. 1995-1999 video releases feature the mono with the restored song and a few minor differences. Not changes just things that were more drowned in the mix now stand out more (Cassidyās āburpā, dialogue in the scene when shark tugs boat). The 2000 DVD/VHS was the first to include the surround remix that rerecorded all the sound FX and did NOT include the mono. The 2005 DVD included the mono and the remix. This mono was mostly identical to the mono from the pre-1995 releases but with the restored song. The mono on the Blu-ray is mostly identical to this mix but with a few minor differences which I noted a couple posts ago. Additionally the surround mix on the Blu-ray is an upscale of the previous surround mix but with a few original sound FX restored.
Yes I have the 1991 VHS which has that text on the back cover and it does have a different song playing during the beach scene where the Kinter boy is killed compared to the song on the DVD/BD. Best bet is getting the 1995 Signature Collection LD which I believe has the unreplaced song since the 1995 Letterboxed VHS also has the unreplaced song.
All I know off hand was there was a German DVD of T1 with the ratio 1:66:1 but other than that all DVD/BD releases of T1 and T2 have the theatrical aspect ratios as far as I know. I never actually checked on this.
Yep you canāt really lose either way. My personal opinion the Image Entertainment DVD sounds the best as far as the mono on DVD is concerned but the MGM mono isnt bad either. At least with the DVDs we have an option for the mono unlike the Blu-rays.
