Untitled Bruce Campbell Project (* unfinished project - a ton of info & ideas *)
Time
Cool, Well I've done a skim through IMDB and here's a list of films Bruce has a cameo or (I think) a very small role in. A lot of these I've not seen, so if Bruce is in them a lot then they could be taken off the list. I'm wondering - did his scenes from The Quick And The Dead ever see the light of day?

Sky High (2005) .... Coach Boomer
Spider-Man 2 (2004) .... Snooty Usher
The Ladykillers (2004) (uncredited) .... Humane Society Worker
Intolerable Cruelty (2003) (uncredited) .... Soap opera actor on TV
Drugs (2003) (V) .... Bruce
Spider-Man (2002) .... Ring Announcer
The Majestic (2001) .... Roland the Intrepid Explorer
From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money (1999) (V) .... Barry
Escape from L.A. (1996) .... Surgeon General of Beverly Hills
Menno's Mind (1996) .... Mick Dourif, Rebel Leader
Congo (1995) .... Charles Travis, R.B.'s Son
The Demolitionist (1995) (uncredited) .... Raffle Winner
The Quick and the Dead (1995) (scenes deleted) .... Wedding Shemp
The Hudsucker Proxy (1994) .... Smitty, Argus Reporter
Eddie Presley (1992) .... Asylum Attendant
Darkman (1990) .... Final Shemp
The Dead Next Door (1988) (voice)

Also, has anyone got a copy of the documentary Bruce did called A Community Speaks? I've never heard of it before.

Very cool you got Bill's DVD! What else is on the disc? Do you think any colour and sound tweaking could make it(them?) any more watchable?

Invader Tim: What format do you have all these in? I'd certainly love to see them (even if they don't make it onto the project).

The Robot Chicken episode he's in is called Dragon Balls - can be found doing regular torrent site hunts. What do people think about a Bruce cameos disc for the project?

If you've got 6 Months to live I'd love to see that on the set - the only short I know of in circulation that's missing from my comp collection.

I just got a DVD of Crimewave today, got it for £2 on ebay and it's an official region 2 UK PAL release, looks like a decent transfer and it's widescreen - no extras features though (the XYZ Murders trailer is still a rarity then I guess) there seem to be a lot of different releases of Crimewave, just plug it into ebay - go for next to nothing either.

I read through the list of films Bruce has been in on IMDB and his own site and I'm wondering more and more, what say people to a disc compiling all his short cameos? He's done so many you could easily put together a cool little disc of all his 30 second screen time parts (and means you don't have to sit through some shitty movie for a flash of the main man). I didn't realise he appeared on Robot Chicken either, his 2 sketches would be cool aditions.

I was reading through Bruce's IMDB page and figured I'd make a list of his TV show cameos (excluding ones he was in as a main character or was in a lot eg. Ellen) Some of these may be gems worth tracking down for the set.

"Megas XLR"
- The Return (2004) TV Episode (voice) .... Magnanimous
- Battle Royale (2004) TV Episode (voice) .... Magnaminous

"My Life as a Teenage Robot"
- Daydream Believer/This Time with Feeling (2003) TV Episode (voice) .... Himcules

"Duck Dodgers"
... aka Duck Dodgers in the 24½th Century (USA: long title)
- K-9 Kaddy/Pig of Action (2003) TV Episode (voice) .... Pork Piggler

"Charmed"
- Witch Way Now? (2002) TV Episode .... FBI Agent Jackman

"The Legend of Tarzan"
... aka Disney's the Legend of Tarzan (USA: complete title)
- Tarzan and One Punch Mullargan (2001) TV Episode (voice) .... Max Liebling

"Beggars and Choosers"
- The Long Goodbye (2001) TV Episode .... Jack

"The X Files"
... aka The X-Files (USA)
- Terms of Endearment (1999) TV Episode .... Wayne Weinsider

"Timecop"
- The Future, Jack, the Future (1998) TV Episode .... Agent Tommy Maddox

"Weird Science"
- I Dream of Gene (1997) TV Episode .... Gene the Genie

"Homicide: Life on the Street"
... aka Homicide (USA: informal short title)
- Justice: Part 2 (1996) TV Episode .... Jake Rodzinsky
- Justice: Part 1 (1996) TV Episode .... Jake Rodzinsky

"American Gothic"
- Meet the Beetles (1995) TV Episode .... Lt. Drey

"Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman"
... aka Lois & Clark
... aka The New Adventures of Superman (UK)
- We Have a Lot to Talk About (1995) TV Episode .... Bill Church Jr.
- Whine, Whine, Whine (1995) TV Episode .... Bill Church Jr.
- Individual Responsibility (1995) TV Episode .... Bill Church Jr.

There also seem to be a good few films where he had a very short uncreditted cameo, likely only a few seconds of screen time - another possible adition?

Bill doesn't have the tape any more? Shit... Did he capture it over to DVD do you know? He is also who sent me the Hail To The King 30 sec trailer, which my copy has mysteriously disappeared, I can't find it anywhere now...

Incidently when I did a google search for crimewave dvd the guy who sent the tape to Bill to be encoded's posts on http://www.horrordvds.com/ came up, is anyone a member of that board? He posts as Dues Ex Machina. It may be possible to get a copy of the tape (with 6 months to die on it) from him if he can be tracked down, I could ask another friend who may still be in contact with him.

So does anyone have 6 Months To Live?

Another quite cool extra to the set would be Bruce's short cameos in the two Spiderman films.

OK, well I have the VCD/SVCD files ripped to my PC and am trying to up the slowly to yousendit.com, but my connection has been playing up today. Molto - do you have an ftp site I could stick them on for you to compare with yours?

Hey Guys, OK dug out the old VCD sets I have - this is what is on them:

Attack Of The Helping Hand
The Sappy Sap
WNIC Radio TV Spot
XYZ Murders Trailer
Though SHalt Not Kill Trailer
Night Crew F/X Footage
Stykers War
PM Detroit spotling on Ren. Pics
Cleveland Smith
Torro, Torro, Torro
The Blind Waiter
Book Of The Dead Trailer
The Evil Dead Trailer
Within The Woods
(Note: I can't remember the name of the shot that was in such bad shape it wasn't encoded)

OK, now before anyone gets excited about these being capped form a 3rd gen dub they look and sound bad. The original negative these were taken from is in a horrible state and generally they are very dark and have low, poor sound. Asuming the DVD cap is got is there someone here who is good at doing a remaster of videos (playing with brightness/colour levels and remastering the audio tracks)?

OK, now since I got these I'm fairly certain the Evil Dead Trailer and Book Of The Dead Trailer cropped up on the special edition of The Evil Dead - this will have to be checked. I also noted that Styker's War was released on DVD in limited quanitites a few years back. Does anyone have this? I'm guessing what I have is actually a different cut or a workprint, imbd made it out like Bruce isn't in it much - but have a quick look now (been years since I watched it) he's in the start a lot (smoking a cigar no less) and this cut is only about 45 mins long and has a real make-shift credits at the end.

Another question - did XYZ Murders come out on DVD? I know there was a laserdisc, and is a trailer on it?

I also found my SVCD of Within The Woods and The Book Of The Dead Trailer. Now, as mentioned above it does not look great even though it's as low gen as you're going to get - the print Scott Spiegel has is in a bad way, but it's basically as good as you're going to get until it actually gets a real release (which may never happen). This Dub it was captured from was also sent to Anchor Bay for possible inclusion on a DVD they were putting out years ago (likly before Raimi decided to remaster from his print).

Annoyingly right now I can't find my Hail To The King trailer, it was on an old VCD and I found it a few months ago and stuck it on youtube so it is about here somewhere! I also have a cool short video that was a fan made vid for SKinny Puppy's Who's Laughing Now (which heavily samples Evil Dead 2) and is made up from clips of the film - with the samples. It was made back in the late 80s, early 90s on an analogue deck so it's pretty vintage. However it's currently MIA also, but will turn up...

Possible other things that could be located:
On youtube is you type in Bruce Campbell someoen at comicaon this year has recorded his Q/A, someone could message that guy and tell him about the project. Those 2 Sam/Bruce made music videos - again message the guy who put them up. Also, I forget the film's name, but some guy made a low buget film about a wonder drug that was meant to be better than sex, and it was sort of a documentary, but anyhow as legend goes Bruce did a short bit for it at one of his book signings and it was included in the original cut of the film - however the Actors Guild/Union came down hard on Bruce because he has done this short cameo and Bruce had to call up this young film maker and ask him to take the clip out of the film. It's possible this clip could be located and included on this project.

Are there any other OOP or region exclusive Bruce clips from old DVDs/Laserdiscs?

With regards to the Evil Dead 2 workprint: I don't want to sound like a killjoy but about 5 years ago me and some friends were offered this and when the tape turned up it just turned out to be a generated dub of the film, and not a workprint - so don't get your hopes up too much.

OK, so how serious are people about this project and who is going to be involved in putting it together? I culd may be upload the VCDs I have so the people who are compiling this can see what is available.

OK, end of this long post. Thanks for the info and enthusiasm guys!

It's a tiny file, I stuck it up on youtube awhile back (before my account got cancelled). I can dig out the file and put it on yousendit.com over the weekend.

Here's links to the two music videos Raimi and Campbell are meant to have directed/produced:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4JNLthoQRU
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVzcs9Ygb5Q
-Some hunting may result in better copies being found (or email the people who upped the videos)

Also if you're serious about this and getting the early shorts contact Bill Piper who runs this site http://www.skinny-puppy.info/ as he's the one who has the tape of the Sam/Bruce shorts that all the copies kicking about source from, and I know there was that one short that he never transferred the first time around (he may even have more these days - and he did send me the hail to the king trailer way back when). I haven't talked to him in years, should really drop him a line, he had an impressive collection of rare horror films and workprints back in the day - no idea how large it'll be now.

I've been meaning to bring this up for awhile and ask about the availablity of some things.

To cut a long story short me and a couple of guys in the US, who used to trade a lot of Skinny Puppy bootlegs, went on a mad scavenger hunt to track down a copy of the original fund rasier for The Evil Dead - Within The Woods - about 4-5 years ago. Eventually Scott Spiegel's assistant was tracked down who parted with a copy of the film made from his dub of Spiegel's copy (so 3rd Gen) along with about 2 hours worth of very early shorts made by Spiegel, Sam Raimi, and Bruce Campbell. I have copies on VCD (this was pre-DVD burner days) but never wound up getting copies on DVD and I remember one of the shorts was left off because the video was so poor it was really only an audio track. I was wondering if anyone here has any of these shorts on DVD. This guy has the collection we uncovered - but I'm not sure if it's just taken from my VCDs (I traded them out a few times) SVCDs which were later made, a generated tape dub - or the 3rd gen dub properly encoded as a DVD.
http://www.asylum00.com/r.htm (see Raimi collection)

I also have vague memories of another trader about 5 years ago having a site which listed other early Bruce and Sam films I never got my hands on, off hand one was a film about a bank heist which was an hour long and was filmed in one continuous take on one camera. Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about..?

But yes - I'd love to see some rare Bruce Campbell features on a DVD. I know I also have a very funny Hail To The King trailer on disc somewhere which Bruce crops up in.

Sergio Leone Preservations - Dollars Trilogy, Fistful of Dynamite, Once Upon a Time in the West (Released)

Keep us informed with your progress - really looking forward to checking these out!

A few things you may have that would make slick little extras, the German DVD release of FAFDM has a few trailers on it not on any other version, notable
"Dollar films" -German promo trailer
"Nobody films" -German promo trailer

I don't know if you have a copy of the GTBATU Japanese set but it has the US Trailer on it and English DTS soundtrack.

Thanks again for doing these!

BANNED BOND: The Criterion Collection on DVD (Released)
Time
I finally managed to get the first of three torrents downloaded and burned: Goldfinger. It looks great, extras on the menu are slick. I'm wondering though - how exactly do I get the commentary to play..? I don't see an option for it...

Thanks again for doing this, can't wait to get the others! (Dr No and From Russia With Love are two of my all time favourite films, let alone Bond flms).

Twin Peaks Pilot - Alternate Ending? (Released)
Time
Wow, that'd be awesome! You guys rule!

What other never released on DVD Lynch obscurities are out there? I know there were meant to be compilations of Twin Peaks outtakes and dailies, but I never got my hands on them. Nice to see some sort of Fan DVD of missing bits and pieces once the set has come out, things like the Saturday Night Live sketch which lkely won't make it on there.

Twin Peaks Pilot - Alternate Ending? (Released)
Time
Weird, I was sure both versions of the Pilot were available on the UK release of Twin Peaks season 1, but I just checked and it's only the broadcast pilot. I'll have to track down the laserdisc of the pilot I guess. What's this about a big Twin Peaks boxset? I knew season 2 was getting a DVD release but never heard of one containing both series and the pilot.
