I don’t know how well deepfake AIs handle beards (apparently it can cause issues?) but I think that’s a cool idea in theory.

Replace Palpatine with Alec Guinness as Hitler in The Last Ten Days. The big reveal Obi-Wan kept from Luke is that Empührer Hitlertine is his evil twin brother.
It would be a lot of footage to replace for what would basically be (in my opinion, it’s subjective) novelty value; I’d love to see a few select shots as Young Alec Guinness, though. I don’t know where the idea that he hated being in Star Wars originally came from; by all accounts he had a lot of fun on set but didn’t take it deeply seriously.
De-ageing Natalie Portman is a really cool idea. It might look a bit weird later in the movie though, when she’s not covered by robes and her limbs clearly have an adult’s proportions.
I don’t think we need to state outright that Palpatine is in a clone body, personally. In the huge mess of tangle and confusion that is TROS, the one bit of tangle and confusion that works in its favour is how and what exactly Palpatine is, at least in my opinion - the small amount of ambiguity (I think it’s the exact right amount now we’ve got the Palpatine clones in the Pickled Snoke tank) gives him that same atemporal sense of “how does this work” that makes the concept of ghosts unsettling.
In the scene where Leia frees Han from carbonite, replace the score with ‘Hello’ by Lionel Richie.
Digitally add a smiley face to Darth Vader’s helmet.
It could look like someone randomly placed a sticker on his helmet in a random angle and he never noticed.
Add a bumper sticker to the back of Vader’s TIE.

After his conversation with Palpatine about how the son of Skywalker lives, he adds a boy stick figure to the man and woman stick figures. After realising Luke has a sister, he adds a girl stick figure as well.

But that’s the ‘real’ version of what happened. If you delete it, there’s only the two less accurate recollections, though I suppose that would add an interesting amount of additional ambiguity. I have seen a tweak to it here (though I don’t recall who by, sorry) where it was adjusted to have Luke explicitly turn his saber off before Ben struck at him, making it clearer that Luke wasn’t going to attack him, which might be the sort of thing you’re looking for.
If I remember correctly that was an idea put forward in the ST Radical Redux thread. I know someone started working on it, but I don’t know if they ever finished it. (I hope they did/do, though!)

I’ve got the Sors Bandeam lines from Ross and I’m currently trying to integrate them into the Jedi Voices scene, however, I’m having difficulty because the audio mix is so dense at that point - the Jedi voices move across all the different channels, and have reverb and echo across some channels as well. I could really use some help from someone who’s good at separating music and voices from audio; I know it can be done with EQ tools, but I don’t have the technology or know-how to do it.
I found a pretty straightforward new program for this here:
Spleeter gives you two files, the music track free from vocals and vocals free from music. It’s not seamless, but it might make the difference.

Yep, it is! It’s on a bit of an unofficial hiatus just at the moment - due to some changes in Real Life Stuff, I’ve ironically had a bit more time to do video editing and no opportunity to do text editing. In maybe a month or so things should be able to keep progressing - I still remember exactly where I was up to and where I was going with it!

So I had a thought recently. Should I make the Master Codebreaker Maz refers to be Lando? I can do this since I don’t have him as a hermit on Pasaana in my TROS novel. Rather, he explicitly traveled there to help them.
Finn and Rose wouldn’t have to recognize him. It would mostly just be a cameo appearance before TROS so he isn’t forgotten for way too long.
That was what I thought was going to happen when I first watched The Last Jedi. You’d probably have to imply he was there for some Resistance-specific purpose somehow, otherwise it would come off as Lando just kicking it with the amoral high-rollers while the Resistance is struggling.
Things move slowly around here - that’s the nature of editing. You don’t need to ask every day; sometimes you have to wait a week or two. : )
He hasn’t yet; I’ve touched base and he’s still enthusiastic about it, but he’s coincidentally also trying to get a small business off the ground at the moment and that’s occupying all of his time. I told him fanediting moves at a slow pace so not to worry too much, but if we’re nearing the endgame I’ll see if I can put a bit of urgency to it.
I think 3 is a bit too contrast-y, especially in the darker scenes. 1 has a softness to it that looks really nice, but if you want to put a consistent grade across all shots instead of manually adjusting each one individually (aka: a nightmare), I think 2 gives the best happy medium across all scenes.

Whelp…I tried incorporating the LEGO Holiday Special audio; and unfortunately, I don’t think it works. There’s a very clear divide between the two voices, I think, when they’re placed side by side like that. I’ve posted the audio (isolated from the center channel) here, for both LEGO Rey’s line and Human Rey’s original line, in case anyone else wants to take a stab at it:

Also, regarding the suggestion of using Battlefront audio, I went through that a while back looking for instances of Rey saying “I am a,” but I didn’t find anything that worked. The examples I found were too rushed, so the different sounds just mushed together and I wasn’t able to split them up cleanly.
Sooo…unless anyone else has other ideas for supplementing the audio, I’ll just repost my latest test below. You know, real casual-like…

Also, maybe I’ve watched this clip too many times, but what if Palps says, “I am all the Sith. You are nothing. A scavenger girl is no match for the power in me.” Sade, you’re the expert - did we try it that way already? Would it make any significant difference to the scene?

Listening to them side by side, I think the issue is Daisy Ridley’s RP accent; some of her normal accent (London?) leaks through in the vowels, and the Lego actor doesn’t do that. But she matches Daisy’s vocal inflections well, which is what made me not notice without that context.
I’ll have a play around with it and try out some ideas I have in the next day or so, but I suspect that ultimately if Sherlock can’t get a result from it then I’m unlikely to.
