The Thief and the Cobbler: Recobbled Director's Cut (Released)

So... any idea of what went wrong? It says in the image in my previous post that the VIDEO_TS.VOB file "is not referenced and should not be present". Does that mean that I should not copy it onto the DVD?

EDIT: Oh, and has anyone else had a similar problem or is it just me?

Try running it through DVDShrink. Mine did that, I think, because I had gotten to 99.7% and then Piratebay went down. I then restarted the torrent from Dememoid, but then copied the existing download from Piratebay. It didn't look like it was recognizing it, so I figured I'd have to just start all over, but then it finished as though it DID recognize the earlier download. Anywho, I was getting the same error burning it, so I ran it through DVDShrink and somehow it had ended up being just slightly oversized. DVDShrink fixed it with only a 98% or 99% compression, but it made it kosher to burn.

By the way, I've since switched over from Bitlord to Azureus, which would have allowed me to just do a check and then reloaded from where it left off.

The DVDs are lying. Beauty and the Beast and Lion King "original versions" are just the IMAX version with the extra song cut out. There were alterations in the animation done for the bigger format.

Unfortunately, I don't have a page for Beauty's differences, but here's Lion King differences

***//BUILDING EMPIRE\\: PAL & NTSC DVD - NEW EDITION NOW ONLINE! ***

I don't know why they make a big deal over the kiss on Hoth, even. It's obvious that it's to get Han's goat and not romantic. She barely says 2 words to Luke in the first two movies. Any hint at a love triangle is on the cutting room floor. I think it's all wishful thinking from when we were kids that was turned on its ear. Watching it as an adult it's fairly obvious they were telegraphing Han with Leia from the first "meet cute."

Anyway, can someone send me how to get to the easter egg, too? It's driving me nuts trying to find it through the menus. I should be working on my version of the NTSC BE this weekend.

The Thief and the Cobbler: Recobbled Director's Cut (Released)

I finally got it and have watched it 3 times. How great is this? I had read the same article in Comic Scene years ago and was just as intrigued. So glad to have finally seen it and it holds up to the hype. The War Machine finale is ungodly. How could human beings DO that?! I'm going to have to break out Roger Rabbit just to savor the animation. It's too bad we don't have much output from this man. He is incredible in his personal animation and what he got out of his team.

Great work, Garrett.

I was under the impression that Plasma/LCD panels had higher resolution than that (obviously the HD ones do, but SD too), and everything was scaled (it all gets horribly processed anyway). Could be wrong though.

I believe they are 852 x 480 for SD. The HD ones are 1280 x 768.

Yes, it is possible to continue the download from Mininova. This has all been discussed before if you read.

Yes, of course I read. Nothing has said how to actually do it, though. It's a completely different torrent and tracker so starting it downloads it completely from scratch. I copied the existing files from the piratebay download and it has still started the download over from scratch. The files that were allllllllmost completed were the VOB files, so even if they were 4 MB from finishing, now I'm looking at 3GB again. I was asking if there's a trick to get it to recognize an unfinished torrent from Piratebay to Demonoid/Mininova.

Giorgio Moroder's Metropolis (Released)

Well, the idea I proposed was to take the DVD and keep it in its proper restored form, but simply re-edit the Moroder score to fit it. That way you get the proper version of the visual, but also with this music.

Very do-able. I haven't seen the Kino print yet though. is it really that much better than Moroder's? I know the Kino is like 3-4 minutes longer than Moroder's but is that due to replaced scenes, different framerate, or lengthened titles?

The Kino print is amazing and makes it look like it was shot yesterday. It is the same frame rate as the Moroder version, that is 24fps. There was a bit of controversy, but no one has ever been able to prove that Metropolis was ever intended to be shown in anything other than "sound" speed. All indications are that despite being filmed 16-18 fps, it was supposed to be projected at ~24fps. It might look unnatural to modern viewers, but silent films were supposed to be sped up. Film studios supplied cue sheets for local music and they all indicate projection speed closer to modern sound speed and none of them indicate 16-18 fps.
