***//BUILDING EMPIRE\\: PAL & NTSC DVD - NEW EDITION NOW ONLINE! ***
Time
Yeah. I got a 200GB Maxtor internal (I already have a USB/Firewire case for it), and a 400GB WD MyBook external drive on Friday after shopping at Staples at 6:00am . That should be plenty. I'm using Procoder or NeroVision to convert PAL to NTSC. I'll probably reuse the same sound. I'm going to try to come as close as possible to replicating the entire experience, but the only thing I really need is for someone to tell me how to access the easter egg. I know it's VTS 11, but I'm not sure how it is accessed via the DVD player menus. (EDIT-Nevermind. I found it. The menu transition shot gave me the clue.)

I'm doing it for my own personal use but was going to send a copy to Jambe for his approval before releasing it to the world. If you're working on one, have at it. I'm doing it more for the educational experience anyway. If yours turns out better, then I have no problem if it becomes the official NTSC version. If mine turns out decent, then that just saves you another project.

That's why my non-anamorphic NTSC robocop looks better then my Anamorphic PAL one (I've provided some screen caps that demonstrate that as well).

I know what you're going to say "Boris, it's the SAME track as the uncompressed LD one"... maybe, but that doesn't mean there aren't flaws on the LD track that were ironed out for the DVD.

If I'm not mistaken, the DVD spec requires either DD or PCM. PCM is perfectly legal without DD needing to be present. That said, other than music DVDs, PCM movie soundtracks are exceedingly rare.

Guys I have no reason to lie to anybody. I am not going to sit here and defend my statements. Believe what you wish. I will bring you the info if you want to hear it when it is presented to me. I do not have the name of the restoration artist. What I do have is a life outside of the Star Wars Trilogy. So while people sit around lazily trying to debunk everything I say. Just remember one thing 2007 is the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars. Do you actually think that LFL will pass on the chance to milk the market with SW DVDs one last time? I am not even telling you to take my word for it. Read between the lines has been my entire position throughout this thread. I have not made one impossible statement. I thought I would be a good guy and pass some good news along to my favorite forum. However, people would rather think ill of me. We all KNOW how George Lucas is when it comes to home video formats. You wanna talk about Blu-Ray and HD? Think about it! You will be waiting a long time because George doesn't have any plans on bringing Star Wars anywhere near those formats, till we have a declared winner and the new standard has been set for several years. MAY THE FORCE BE WITH ALL OF YOU!

Before you get offended with people's doubts, please go to Supershadow.com. Read as much of the site as you can. Be sure to read his interviews with his best pal George Lucas. Check out his scripts for Episodes 7-9. Check out his "girlfriend". And the guy has been doing it for almost 10 years now. Know also that the guy has had several cease and desist orders from Lucasfilm and ILM (when he claimed to be an employee) and you'll know why what you're saying has to be taken with a huge grain of salt. The guy is either a completely obsessive pathological liar or quite possibly the most brilliant long term satire of Star Wars fans in history. Either way, the level of detail with no corroboration is quite similar.

Help: looking for... Anyone have COSI Star Wars Exhibit Footage?
Time
This is the last weekend for the COSI exhibit. I went last night and can't figure this one out. This isn't the prop hand for Luke in Empire Strikes Back. That was a wrist and it was a clean door. This looks like a blast and in Jedi, he got the back of his hand blasted. Unused concept prop or shenanigans?

Cool exhibit, but I wish they'd made clearer what was film used props/models and what was mockups.

POLL: WORST ACTOR OR ACTRESS IN THE PT?
Time
I was going to bring up the Terrence Stamp story because that is so indicative of what was wrong with the movies. Ever see the Star Wars auditions? They have different actors in different combinations and it shows why Lucas' new technique doesn't work. When one actor would read his lines intensely, the other actor would ramp up his intensity. When the same actor was with someone else who was reading more lowkey, his performance was more subdued as well. Seems fairly obvious, doesn't it? When actors are acting against a ping pong ball on a stick instead of other actors, the whole movie suffers. Even when actors were together, Lucas would take one actor from one take and another actor from a different take and combine them digitally. To do this, he couldn't have clashing performances so everyone had to act blandly.

I voted all sucked equally. Yeah, it was because of Lucas, but he wasn't an actor in the films.

Not to defend a really stupid form of censorship, but "Morphin" and "Morphine" are only one letter different. It's not like it was "Morfin" and "Morphine". Yeah, it's stupid, but just seeing it spelled out isn't quite as obvious as all that.
