STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

re the lightsaber retracting, I think Sojourn may have hit on it, and I must admit I've only watched it through my computer and VLC so excuse me if it sounds 'right' when played through a proper surround system or if the sound mix isn't final, but I could barely hear the sound effect of the lightsaber retracting, and I think that might be what is making the retraction look slightly slow (?) maybe the fact that it is also the only time in the saga we see a lightsaber retracting from that close an angle that it looks a little strange?

as a side note, just watched the scene of Luke's hand getting chopped off in FRAME BY FRAME motion and I love the way you've shortened his arm/sleeve so that it looks correct, amazing work!!

after the Clone Wars are done, I'd like to see the time period between ROTS and ANH being explored. Nothing ongoing, just random 4 episode self contained story arcs, for example a young Luke Skywalker's first encounter with Obi-Wan, Darth Vader hunting down the last of the Jedi, Han Solo adventures, hopefully nothing that shrinks the universe down anymore than it has.

Having seen what the Clone Wars team are delivering in their 4th season it's almost to the point where I trust them with the original characters, and in terms of merchandising it keeps both franchises going.

to be honest, I'd rather Ady got rid of all traces of 'Sith Eyes' in the prequals, it was a cheap and lazy plot device to try and make Anakin's TURN more convincing. The acting wasn't quite there, neither was the dialogue and his motivation wasn't entirely convincing "LIGHTBULB" I Know lets give him crazy glowing eyes so that the audience knows he's officially bad!

I just wish there was some kind of audio commentary or someone to explain to me , that after 30 years why Han's Line in EMPIRE "You could use a good kiss!" was cut from the Blue Ray? I just wanna hear some kind of logical explanation as to how deleting that line ADDS anything or IMPROVES the quality of the movie? it's like cutting out the punchline of the joke??

Does George really hate HAN SOLO that much that he needs to water down his character at every turn?

I just want to hear the rationale that went into making the decision to remove the line, because now all I hear is the gap where it used to be.

I hope this is a joke, or one hell of a audio remixing mistake!

I just heard the line on the blu ray. still there.

it's not on my blue ray copy

Do you have a full audio set up? If you're listening through stereo speakers then you won't hear all audio from certain channels. I remember watching LOTR: FOTR and there's a line from Sauron "Build me an army worthy of Mordor" which you can't hear through two channels.

Thanks LEXX, I only previewed it through the standard stereo of the TV, I'll have to try it with the surround system on .

yeah had a proper listen to it today, with the surround on, and it is there, it just doesn't seem as prominent as it used to

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

QUESTION FOR ADYWAN:

it's funny how taking a fresh look at EMPIRE on a new format such as the BLU RAY, suddenly a scene that you never would have thought twice about, stands out like dogs balls. don't kill me if it's already been discussed, but I didn't see any mention of it on the first pages outlining Adywans changes

I'm referring to the MYNOCK scene inside the asteroid/slug, when they go out to investigate, there's a tense noise then Han yells "WATCH OUT!" then shoots what appears to be an already dead motionless mynock off the hull of the ship and it just drops to the ground without moving.

Is there anyway of doing something with the mynock to make it look like it might actually pose a threat?, maybe a a flurry of movement or a threatening flap of its wings?, or just tighten up the editing so that it looks like Han's reaction wasn't a case of massive over-reacting? as it is the rest of Mynock 'attack' doesn't look very effective, the puppets they used were very basic and limited in their wing movement.

I was hoping that it would appear in the deleted scenes from ROTJ, but it was left out of the current Blu Ray release.

but a couple of lines were trimmed from Boushh's dialogue when 'he' pulls a thermal detonator and threatens JABBA something along the lines of "They'll be scraping your stinking carcass off the walls', could be fairly easily reinserted with a few lengthened cuts and subtitling , as it is Boushh seems to say a whole line of dialogue with only a few syllables, C-3po doesn't have to translate anything further, and it lends more to Jabba's response of "This Bounty Hunter is my kind of scum!"

Maybe it's a false memory, but I remember seeing a very early trailer when it was still being billed as REVENGE of THE JEDI, that contained that line of BOUSHH's dialogue?? of course I was a very impressionable 12 year old at the time.

What was the "fatal flaw" of the Prequels if you think they sucked? (aka. Let's take a break from hating on the blu-rays)
Time

lack of a strong central villain, somebody the audience just loves to hate the same way that Vader was feared all those years ago. Instead we got 3 sacrificial lambs in the form of Maul, Dooku and Grievous.

They tried playing the 'Cool' angle with Maul, but while he certainly looked the part he didn't really get a chance to do much 'evil' apart from showing off his cool martial arts moves and his double ended lightsaber gimmick. probably sold a lot of action-figures but equally just as forgettable.

Dooku was a step in the right direction and one of the best casting decisions made in the prequels, but again another wasted opportunity, his character was a little too ambiguous, is he good?/is he bad? , I wish he'd been established in the first film and given a bit more of a chance for evil, they could've just replaced the bumbling Neimodians altogether with Dooku as the mysterious head of the Trade Federation, I always found it hard to believe that a wise old Jedi like Dooku could be so oblivious to the Emperor ordering his death at the hands of Anakin, His death should've been worked into Anakin's turn later in the film.

and finally Grievous , another 'cool' villain with no less than 4 lightsabers and guaranteed to sell heaps of action-figures, but anything even remotely scary or ominous about him dissapeared as soon as strode onto the screen coughing up a lung like a chain-smoker with 2 weeks to live.

That is serious

Always thinking ways to get rid of it and fix it. this solution is plausible !

but see, this is where the Lucas thing kicks in, instead of removing that 'blink and you miss it' shot of the stormtrooper bumping his head, lets make out it was a deliberate part of the film and incorporate other scenes of Troopers or their cloned counterparts bumping their heads, into all of the films YAY!!!!

I still can't belive it... this is unfathomable..

The climax of the whole film, arguably the WHOLE SAGA, has been ruined. All of the changes I can accept, but seriously?! What the hell, man?!

"Nooooooooooooo..."

.....

:(

to make matters worse it's been changed to fit in with Vader's NOOOOO!!! in the climax of the prequals- the circle is now complete NOOOOOOOO!!!!!

my memory isn't that bad, is it? (in SW '77 - Luke misses with the grappling hook?)
Time

+

and when I was seven I used to argue in the playground that after Luke had blown up the death-star that there was a ghostly image of Vader superimposed over a starfield and he said " I WILL RETURN" it wasn't until the first rerelease a few years later that I got see the movie for the second time and I was proven wrong. to this date I'm not sure if my false memory was due to a TV commercial for STAR WARS merchandise , a DARTH VADER LIVES tshirt I got for Xmas 1977 or perhaps even the teaser poster for Empire Strikes Back, or a combination of the three.

hey, im back. threads have just been real dry lately. anyways...

i was watching the entire saga in order, one through six, and thought of something. don't u think vader would be a little pissed at luke because wouldn't vader blame him for padme's death? out of his own dark anger of course.

All Vader knows is that "in [his] anger [he] killed her", which really has nothing to do with her (a) dying in childbirth or (b) of a broken heart. It is unknown how he officially figures out that Luke is actually his son, because also as far as he knows, the child(ren) died also.

Vader blames himself, which it is his fault really. However in a better prequel, the Jedi should have been blamed for her death, justifying Vader's role in the Purge and driving him further away from his friends, instead of him blaming himself and being emo about it. DRIVE him to the dark side, don't let him kick the dirt and say "aw shucks, I killed my wife, might as well be angry at everything that moves!"

it's funny, i'd never given it a lot of thought, but it certainly puts a new spin on Empire strikes Back, All Vader knows is that "in [his] anger [he] killed her",

the existence of a son means Vader knows the Emperor lied (from a certain point of view) about Anakin killing Padme, it also means the Emepror knows that Vader knows he lied to him about Padme's death, adds a bit more tension to an already interesting dynamic.

in reference to the requests for Star destroyers over Cloud city, sure Vader might be a vengeful bastard with anger issues, but if the Empire can gain control of a mining facility that produces Tibana Gas without having to resort to excessive force, why wouldn't they? and if it's deserted , more the better they can bring their own people and man the facility themselves, regardless of how the events with Luke etc panned out i'm sure the Empire, I'm sure the Empire had their sites on securing Cloud city for themselves.

it might be visually impressive, but I'm sure it suits the Empire far better if they just let everyone but the rebels escape.

I didn't see this on the opening page , so I hope this hasn't been discussed before

I'm off work today, recovering from the Flu and decided to watch Empire for the first time in about a year or so, and re-noticed a minor little something thats bugged me for a while. In the scene where Yoda meets Luke, Yoda grabs some sort of weird chocolate bar from Lukes rations, takes a bite and chews, yet the food remains completely intact, it always reminded me of the scenes on Sesame street whenever the characters mimed eating something. Is there any way to actually make it look he actually took a bite out of the bar?

It sounds like a minor thing, and I'm sure it's well within the realms of Ady's capabilities, but It would add more believability to Yoda in that brief little scene.

I don't think the size of the Falcon needs to be changed. It's large enough to be noticed, but not small enough to miss - post-RotJ dimensions be damned! :)

I also don't think it's necessary to add any 'engine glow' power down, etc. to tell the viewer "LOOK HERE!!!" One of the nice things about the shot is that you don't necessarily see the Falcon right away. When you finally notice it for the first time, you get that sense of "oh, there they are," and "I can see why the Empire wouldn't even notice them, since I didn't." An engine glow would stick out and draw the viewer's attention to the Falcon too quickly.

I 've gotta agree 100% we all know the falcon is there, they're HIDING and trying to avoid detection and sensors of the star destroyer, why put flashing lights and engine glows pointing to where they are hiding? It seems like a very Lucas Prequal approach to make it bleeding obvious to the uninformed viewer, it's a much nicer reveal if the Falcon appears camouflaged at first.

I'm pretty sure that in the radio adaption they had to power off completely to avoid being sensed , it added to the tension of the scene.

would those of you who does not like snakes and lizards have Adywans whisk them out or add small horns on them, give them different coliurs and strange eyes to make them look more as alien..things?! o.0

I think i's ok to have them there, sure some of the puppets can ge made to look more alive :)

definately keep them in , they add a lot to the creepy atmosphere of the cave, but if anything can be done to make them seem a little more alien, such as colouring, horns etc that would be great.

as far as showing Yoda being involved in Lukes X-wing crashing, does it need to be that obvious? Yoda obviously hid the planet in a simiar way that Kamino didn't appear on any charts, with his abilities in the force he would have sensed Luke's shp approaching and travelled to meet him, Yoda probably did bring the ship down in the right place , but isn't more interesting if you leave it up to the imagination or just a lucky coincidence. sometimes the more you show tends to lessen the impact and meaning of what is happening.
