Disney Acquires LucasFilm for $4.05 billion, Episode 7 in 2015, 8 and 9 to Follow, New Film Every 2-3 Years
Time

listening to George talk about his beloved franchise in purely monetary terms, revenues streams etc and about his retirement /handing over the reigns etc  maybe he has almost relaxed to the point where a restored GOUT would be seen as just another product or revenue stream that sat alongside the current incarnations of the 2 trilogies. its gotta be a more viable idea than 3d versions of the films.

on a side note there has been no mention of the Clone Wars series in the deal and what will happen with Lucasfilm's Animation Division, I hope Filoni and his crew are somehow involved in the new trilogy as IMHO their attention to detail has really brought the series into line with the ideals of the original STAR WARS than what they originally were given to work with.

That was the time period the live action tv show is supposed to be set in. If it's not dead in the water now...

well cost has been the big factor in stalling the TV series, even McCallum recently  conceded there was no money to be made from TV , let alone covering production costs, seems logical for Disney to step in pursuing the idea as theatrical movies.

According to Lucas they already have hundreds of hours already written(take with grain of salt) , and with 3 years to turn around a new movie you would hope that the story was already pretty much set in stone. It's a good chance that George even been pitched the film to  Disney to seal the deal.

who's to say episode 7 8 9  will necessarily follow the events of Return of the Jedi? aside from the sequential episode numbers, surely the 20 years between episodes 3 & 4 would be a much more interesting era to mine than watching middle-aged Luke, Leia and Han (or even worse re-cast Luke, Leia & Han) running around the galaxy with their annoying offspring.

The rise of the Empire, Jedi purge and the birth of the rebellion definitely is a much richer time-frame to explore, and if they required actors from the prequels they'd still be the right age for the role, and importantly all 9 films would chronicle Vader's rise and fall.

My proposal re: Disney Star Wars
Time

its very odd reading board members putting forward suggestions that are far worse than anything old George could ever imagine, is this what Star Wars has come too? I sincerely hope Disney has no plans to remake any of the movies, not even the bad ones.

but after hearing George 's announcement, I wouldn't be surprised if a Boba Fett spin-off movie is being thrown around as an idea, I really hope they don't, but I wouldn't put it past them.

The Clone Wars: Season V
Time

I'm really excited about the new season,  it really has evolved with the last few seasons and the producers seem able to walk the fine line between what the fans want and what George decrees. I can't help thinking that we might see the end of Ahsoka, given the timeline her exit/death has to happen eventually to be big enough of a jolt to Anakin and allow enough time to pass after the event to counter why her existence doesn't rate a mention by the time ROTS rolls around.

It looks like there is a fierce battle between her and Ventress, maybe thats how they both meet their ends? It took me a long time  to warm to Asohka (and I'm sure I'm not alone) and get over the whole 'sky-guy' "snips" thing, but she's probably gone through more character development than any of the legit characters.

Opinion: The Biggest Missed Opportunity in Star Wars History...
Time

as much as I have grown to really enjoy the CLONE WARS animated series , surely they will need to wind it up soon. It'd be great if the same team 's next series was to flesh out the 20 years in between the 2 trilogies.

Rather than a continuous story,  I'm envisioning 3-4 episode self contained story arcs centered on specific characters , not necessarily in any chronological order,  for example Vader and Fett hunting down the last of the Jedi, a 15 year old Luke Skywalker's first encounter with Ben Kenobi,  Han and Chewie stories similar to the Brian Daley novels as well as exploring minor characters. The possibilities would be endless.

The Significance of British Accents in Star Wars
Time

more likely because the films were mostly shot on location with mostly English actors in minor roles , I actually find it more to disturbing that they used american voice actors for ADR and overdubs for the imperials, it takes me out of the movie.

As for Vader having an english accent, I think that has more to do with him being  a classically trained actor and anything that comes out the mans mouth has a regal sound to it, but it's a very neutral accent, neither English or overly American, maybe had they got better actors to play young Anakin it might have flowed better

<strong>Star Wars: Underworld</strong> (Cancelled Live Action Series) - general discussion thread
Time

sounds like the live-action series has been pushed back even further , seems like George and Rick got a rude awakening when they realised there was no short-term profit on a tv series, I don't know why they haven't scaled back their ideas and gone for a more character driven adult drama like the Battlestar reboot, probably has something to do with George sucking when it comes dealing with actors and emotions and dialogue and stuff.

Or if they're so obsessed with effects , why don't they take their Clone Wars animation to the next step and do it completely CGI.

any guesses as to what STARWARS 13-13 might be?  the new Robot Chicken produced show? a 13 disc set next year?

and odd that there was no mention of the next 3d installment

Star Wars Marvel &quot;Special&quot; Issue: Did they &quot;sneak in&quot; Luke's Father?
Time

although it doesn't explain who the blue guy is, this entry from Wookiepedia

does put to rest Vader and Anakin appearing as two seperate people in this instance, and that the third Jedi was called Halagad Ventor

Kharys, who was thirteen years old at the time, was witness to three Jedi warriors, General Obi-Wan Kenobi,Anakin Skywalker, and Halagad Ventor, who rescued the world from destruction.[3] To repay the Jedi, the clan'sPatriarchKlarymére,  <(MOST LIKELY THE BLUE GUY!!) swore eternal friendship and loyalty to their rescuers. Although nearly all S'kytri were prejudiced against "walkers," the S'kytri's derogatory term for those without wings,[4] Kharys became infatuated with Skywalker and his incredible talent in the Force, and Skywalker sensed the young S'kytri's own Force potential during an interaction with her. Although Skywalker tried to convince Kenobi to take Kharys with them, Kenobi and Ventor both agreed that she was much too old to take for training. However, before departing the world, Skywalker promised Kharys that he would find a way to have the young girl trained.[3]

"Much later, one of the pupils returned. He told us that Obi-Wan and the Jedi were destroyed—by his hand—then, he invoked our oath and made Skye an Imperial satrapy, to be ruled in his name by Kharys, to whom he gave a portion of his knowledge and powers. That man was Darth Vader."
?Aragh[src]

Kharys, during her training under Darth Vader.

Years later, following the end of the Clone Wars and the transformation of Skywalker into the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader, Skywalker returned to Skye to fulfill his promise. Garbed in a dark mask and armor and no longer going by his former name, the S'kytri were unsure which of the former Jedi he really was. However, when Vader arrived at Kharys's home to take her as his pupil, the young woman knew Skywalker had come to fulfill his promise.[3]

OT: No Lightsabres for Yoda or The Emperor
Time

the Jedi are all but wiped out in the Original Trilogy why would either need to carry a saber on them? The Emperor was well guarded and could use darkside powers  on any would be opponent, his only real threat would have been Vader , and that was only once Luke's existence became known to them, although by that stage Palpatine's arrogance probably meant he had no reason to wield a saber.

Yoda , living in Exile on Dagobah , might have had some day to day practical uses for a saber, but I always pictured him as more of a monk like character living in peace with his surroundings and using his other senses to protect himself from predators, and besides, he was a puppet too so it would have been beyond limitations for him to wield a saber.

Should Anakin/Vader have been at Padme's funeral?
Time

even though Vaders re- birth and Padme's death are intercut, I'd assume that Vaders recovery took a little bit longer than the films ending suggests.

I always secretly hoped that given Padme's history of using 'decoys/hand-maidens' that the body in the coffin wasn't her and that between Obi-Wan, Yoda and Bail Organa her death had actually been staged and she went into hiding in the Organa Palace on Alderaan.

It gets rid of the ridiculous 'died of a broken heart' after giving birth to two beautiful babies plot, and doesn't contradict Leia's memories of her mother.

Maybe it's something for Ady to consider when he gets around to ROTS, find a way to have Padme  looking lovingly from the sidelines when  they show Bail on Alderaan with his wife and their new daughter.

Jake Lloyd: &quot;My entire school life was really a living hell.&quot;
Time

I still don't understand how introducing Anakin at such an early age did any service to the overall story, they should have gone with a mid-teen that was closer to Natalie Portman in age. The problem is you can't expect an audience to make an emotional attachment to a character they know will grow up to become DARTH VADER

By introducing Anakin so young they wasted a whole movie where they should have been establishing the friendship between Obi-Wan and Anakin, and the beginnings of a budding romance with Padme, and as a result none of their characters showed any character development until the 2nd film

STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW</strong>
Time

talk about exhausting, I just read through the updated changes list on the first page and had to ask a question of Ady, because it relates to a continuity issue that I bought up many moons ago.

203 - Added droids to exterior medical frigate window shot as it pans from the Falcon

have you been able to add Lando into the cockpit of the Falcon during that shot? as the scenes switch between well lit closeups of Lando doing pre-flight adjustments whilst talking to Luke and Leia over the comlink then switches to an exterior panning shot of the Falcon and it's cockpit is dark and empty.

at the time Ady acknowledged the scene would be fixed, just wondering if it has?

Lucas is just trolling now - THR Interview
Time

as a seven year old watching Star Wars for the very first time back in 1977, i never thought for a moment Han Solo was a cold blooded killer, I did however think that he was a character who may or not be trusted, but as far as Greedo was concerned it was kill or be killed, it was the exact same character defining moment as Indiana Jones shooting the arab swordsman after displaying his fancy sword skills in RAIDERS .

as for them not having enough time to do Yoda in CGI for Phantom Menace , the first time around  WTF??  how many secondary Cgi characters appear in that film?  Jar Jar, Boss Nass, Watto, Battle droids,Jabba the Hutt , Sebulba and the entire pod race, and you couldn't find time for YODA??  what a load of bullshit!

<strong>Star Wars: Underworld</strong> (Cancelled Live Action Series) - general discussion thread
Time

the Star Wars franchise has always been considered a licence to print money, although obviously they didn't figure out that weren't huge amounts of money to be made from TV when they first got excited about the concept years ago.

Although I still don't believe that they wouldn't recoup their costs once international TV rights, DVD and associated merchandising returns were factored in . Although it does show what we've long since suspected in that George's passion for the Star Wars universe only exists if there is a quick buck to be made.

I always assumed that the live action show was gonna be more character driven and less about big budget action & effects, but given George's inability to write convincing dialogue and interesting characters as evidenced by the prequels, then it probably isn't surprising he wants to go the special effects blockbuster route.

If the "Underworld" scripts are that great, for what sounds like  it could turn out to be "THE BOBA FETT SHOW" then maybe he needs to wind up the CLONE WARS animated series and do UNDERWORLD as a cartoon, i think another animated series wouldn't be  dissapointing to fans as much as the live-action show has the potential to do.

I'd say no. from what we hear in the OT, few people seem to believe the Jedi/Sith were ever real to begin with. Like Han says "...I've never seen anything to make me believe in one all powerful force." Which makes no sense when you take the prequels into account. Han would have been 5 years old when this galaxy wide Clone War broke out and Jedi seemed to be everywhere.

I think that says more about Han's character than anything,  he's a practical man, and only believes in things that he can see and feel,  he's obviously aware of the 'all powerful force' but doesn't believe in it, and with the Jedi all but wiped out and discredited 20 years beforehand, he's unlikely to have ever witnessed somebody using the Force before.

Lets not forget the Jedi were Peace-keepers and not likely to be using their powers unless they had to.

How did Luke not know Vader was his old man?
Time

I always presumed that Anakin Skywalker died (figuratively)  and Vader was reborn from Skywalker and that was information that only a small circle of people both Jedi and Empire were privy to. Anakin might have been a hero of the Clone Wars but the Jedi were disgraced and obliterated before the wars ended, therefore I doubt 'Anakin Skywalker' was a household name, at least not enough for the galaxy to question Luke's surname, especially as Tatooine was in the outer rim with little to no Imperial influence.

which all brings about a bigger question,  is the Galaxy aware they under Sith rule?
