Fan film(s) to "replace" the prequels?
Time

its clear from reading the forums that just about everybody has their own take on the saga and what was wrong with the sequels, even if George had done a sterling job, they were always going to have a hard time living up to the expectations of what fans had built in their minds since the original trilogy finished.

remakes and reboots are never going to change that story.

Episode VII: The Force Awakens - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *
Time

X-wings *TICK*, Millenium Falcon *Tick* Stormtroopers *TICK* Light Sabre *TICK* , R2 Unit *TICK* looks like the Star Wars universe to me.

I'm not sure if peoples expectations were set too high for what Abrams billed as a glimpse of what they'd been working on, ie half a dozen or so, probably 95% completed effects shots that provide a teaser for a film that still has nearly 12 months of post production before it's release.

I'm sure Luke, Han and Leia are being saved for the full length trailer closer to the films release. Even though they are the known quantity in the franchise, the producers will want to keep them under wraps for the big reveal.

Why I dislike Adywans Star Wars revisted
Time

at the end of the day the Revisited series is ADYWAN's vision of how the special editions of the original trilogy could have been. I think that apart from the trememndous skill and creativity and the fact that most of what he has put into the production he has learned and developed along the way, he has always been to open to suggestions and ideas from the forum since day one.

Its this collaboration with the members of the forum and the fact that we've been able to see these projects evolve over a long space of time that have lead to the support that these edits have, but it never dilutes from our love of the original cuts of the films.

What would have made the prequels better in your opinion?
Time

- introduce Anakin as mid-teens, maybe a year or 2 older than Padme

- kill off Schmi in the first film or not have her at all

- Clone Wars begin at end of episode 1

- no Jango Fett and little Boba

- get an actor to play Darth Maul and not just a one dimensional martial arts expert

- Anakin turns to darkside at the end of episode 2 , and Jedi purge takes up episode 3 climaxing with Anakin falling into the volcano

STAR WARS: REBELS (animated tv series) - a general discussion thread
Time

The first thing I thought when I saw the EZRA video was 'Oh it's Aladdin in space' and while neither of the 2 announced characters have really grabbed my attention, I think the relationship dynamic is sounding interesting in an almost Luke and Han dynamic from the first movie.

Obviously Filoni and co have a lot of love for the original trilogy.

I just found this on Wookiepedia:

"...the company responsible for the development of his boosters, was shut down, and his rocket boosters were eventually damaged and thus could not be repaired. Despite this, however, R2 hardly regretted the loss of his ability to fly."

It's like a backwards retcon, haha.

hardly regretted his ability to fly?? how many times in the original trilogy would boosters kept him out trouble? he wouldn't have fallen in the swamp and got swallowed on Dagobah, he could have flown to Luke's aid on the sand skiff etc, etc

Flaws, plotholes, and "could-have-been-done-betters" in the OT (alternate plot points especially welcome)
Time

is Threepio dim-witted or just programmed for logic? cos there are plenty of moments in the films where he simply doesn't fully understand human behaviour.

I've always considered the expanded radio plays of the original trilogy to be somewhat canon, in that they don't contradict events in the movies, but I'm pretty sure threepios's memory is erased of the princess and the Tantive's mission (?) although I'd have to dig them out and listen to them to be sure.
