Finally. I’m as happy with this as I’m ever going to be with the current audio sources, frankly, so now it’s up to group consensus to decide what they think of it.

We’re THIS close to the final product for this scene. I can feel it.

I agree though that the sound still doesn’t sound all that diegetic.

Star Wars: The Last Skywalker Awakens - A sequel trilogy &quot;mega-edit&quot; (<em>RELEASED</em>)

1. Walker sounds on Crait

This edit both masks out the First Order shuttle approaching the blast doors and adds the sounds of slowly approaching walkers and TIEs to the establishing shots with Leia. This better stitches up the disconnect between the approaching ships in the theatrical (Finn is already with the Resistance) and provides some quite evocative juxtaposition, Leia staring out into a tundra, the sounds of fascist machinery closing in:

Chills.

I really want to end my TLJ edit by irising out on the group shot of the Resistance inside the Falcon, but the shot isn’t long enough to fit the music. It’s only a few seconds too short - I’ve seen people here extend shots using interpolation software, but I don’t have the technical know-how to do it myself; is there anyone who could give it a crack?

If you have Adobe Premiere, you can use the the Rate Stretch Tool (and it wouldn’t be too noticeable if it’s only a few seconds you need to extend it out.)

Hey, so I know there’s been a couple of ideas about using Voice AI replication software to get new lines out of people such as Kylo Ren or Luke.

Anyways, I just finished watching the new episode of Disney Gallery about the Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian and they talked about how they used this software called ReSpeecher to replicate Mark Hamill’s voice from back in the day for his new lines. Granted, they had raw audio files from the films to use. But, I think with stuff like the Lego Force Awakens game, we could get some good stuff for Kylo Ren at least.

Has anyone looked into possibly using this? I know on the website (here: https://www.respeecher.com/?hsLang=en) it says something about scheduling a demo or whatever. I’m not sure what kind of price it has but has anyone thought about maybe biting the bullet and looking into it?

And it’ll look even more out-of-place and terrible within the context of the movie.

No offense to the guys who worked on the video, but it completely clashes with the movie (even more than the work done in ‘97).

Exactly. That’s honestly my biggest problem with “Sc. 38”. It was an interesting experiment but I think it looks dookie and it’s almost always out of place in fan edits IMHO.

What does anyone here think of the second attempt at Luke’s line, “the birth of her son?”

Not gonna lie, man… The last couple of times I’ve listened to it, it just sounds like he’s giving a big Rick Sanchez-esque burp in the middle of the sentence.

I obviously want something like to this to work out but I’m not sure if it’s feasible at all now. I think our best bet is to just stick with “Leia sensed her son” or something like that. Getting rid of words rather than trying to add them.

Has a tentative cutlist been drawn up for this project yet?

I wouldn’t count on anything regarding TROS being worked on anytime soon, if ever. I began the thread when I was still working through potential ideas to salvage the film, but I’ve pretty much landed on the realization that it’s simply unsalvageable, even combined with TLJ into a sort of two-in-one summary cut.

Dang, I hate to hear that. Honestly, I really loved the idea you had for both this and TLJ. 😦

Very interesting. I think the black and white looks pretty gorgeous.

However, if I were to be super nitpick-y… Seeing that you said you were wanting to make it look like something akin to the Flash Gordon serials or Kurosawa’s B&W films, I feel like the color grading has a bit too much contrast. It makes it look more modern B&W rather than B&W from the 30s/50s. However, if you’re happy with it, I won’t complain!

Also, are you going to add grain onto the film? I’m just curious.
