Ooh… Both of those ideas are pretty great, Starkiller!
Ooh… Both of those ideas are pretty great, Starkiller!
Not necessarily a request for a fan edit per se, but I wonder if anyone has done any sort of upscaling/remastering work on this deleted scene from ROTJ?
Shot in the dark here but do you still have that AI upscaled version of the Cave Scene (or anyone else for that matter)?
I have an idea that might interest you. Have you ever thought about creating a TCW fancut/fanedit that could fit into the Clone Wars Multimedia Project and the pre-Filoni lore? If you did, you’d be doing the Expanded Universe fans a huge favor, that Is, the fans who don’t despise TCW at all but prefer the Clone Wars Multimedia Project, that is, the books, the comics, the novels and the video games set during the Clone Wars that were created between 2002 and 2006. Fans like me.
To create such project you should eliminate everything that contradicts the Multimedia Project (no Maul, no Mandalore, no Ahsoka, no Quinlan Vos, no Barriss Offee, etc.) and keep only the TCW episodes in which Ahsoka is not shown and in which the protagonists are only Anakin and Obi-Wan, such as the episode set on Pantora and a few others. You should eliminate the episodes in which the Clones are too more Independent either.
I’ve actually had this same sort of idea for creating a new Episode II out of Clone Wars episodes (both Filoni’s and Tartakovsky’s) for my own version of the Prequel Trilogy (Episode II as Episode I, this fan edit as Episode II and Episode III as is).
I just want to know who Matt Smith was playing.
When it comes to incorporating the Dark Times content into the main series, I’ve actually been thinking of a fairly interesting idea involving that for a while now: Have the Dark Times content be the new Episodes 4-6, with the OT now being Episodes 7-9.
Episode 4 would be Kenobi (edited into a movie), Episode 5 would be Solo, and Episode 6 would be Rogue One. Kenobi and Solo have been swapped chronologically, but I feel like the “trilogy” is more cohesive this way: Kenobi resolves plot threads left hanging by ROTS and establishes the new state of the galaxy, Solo shows someone trying to survive in this new galaxy and establishes organized resistance movements against the Empire, and Rogue One shows these resistance movements united as a whole and leads directly into ANH.
I feel like this reorganization would have two benefits: It would allow for a bit more of a transition between the radically different aesthetics of the prequels and OT, and it would allow for the cool “trilogy of trilogies” structure to be preserved while having ROTJ be the definitive ending.
I really like this!
I’d even consider doing a “Harry Potter epilogue” sort of thing and having the last scene of ROTJ be a combo of stuff from The Mandalorian and TFA where a new Jedi recruit approaches Luke Skywalker at his temple to start her training.
If you’re able to find it, I’d love to see it as well!
So, I’m not sure if you frequent these boards as much as some other people on here. But there’s this AI voice tool that’s been making the rounds around here: https://fakeyou.com/?vocodes=1
Obviously, I know you’re wanting to use actual people in this. But I figured it would be a good thing to have in your backpocket at least. And who knows? Maybe you’ll be able to use it for some of the characters that would be more difficult to impersonate (i.e. Darth Vader).
Wow! I really liked that edit.
I also wonder if you could hide potential AI dialogue by adding some kind of distortion or something to his masked voice throughout the film. Like, his mask is broken, so maybe his voice modulator is a little broken too. Could add a potential creepy factor to his voice. Some kind of effect that could be analogous to Vader’s breathing. Kylo doesn’t really have an equivalent.
Pull an “Up” and have it be high pitched lmao.
So, there was a pretty good Boba scream that could be put into ROTJ from the Book of Boba Fett’s finale. I don’t remember what the timestamp was though. 😦
I’m not sure if some of the scene restructuring works, but a big part of that is how hard it is to detach the shots from the flow of the score. It did give me a thought though about Ben’s arrival. The movie does seem to depict Rey sensing his presence before she “agrees” to kill Palpatine, which implies that whole build-up is a ruse. I wonder how it would feel if we cut that acknowledgement, and saved it so she doesn’t sense Ben until she is about to kill him. So that whole build up is genuine, and Rey is really about to kill him.
Honestly, I feel like Amobex’s edit did that for me. lol

I think a fun way to start the crawl would be with a line like, “Chaos reigns.” Then you could describe how both sides are scrambling to reorganize after the destruction of Hosnian and Starkiller Base. Or replace ‘reigns’ with another word. “The First Order invades.”
This just reminded me of an opening line I had always wanted to use in my hypothetical Star Wars crawl: “War has torn the galaxy asunder.”
Regarding the Resistance referring to themselves as Rebels lines, I’m guessing the idea was that “Godspeed Rebels” was something the old rebels would say to each other, but it’s kinda weird since we never heard anyone say that. It would be pretty easy to take out the two instances this is said. I know there are other instances besides this though.
Hal could always sneak in a fan voiced line during ROTJ’s Battle of Endor of somebody yelling that (or in any of the pre-ST, post-Prequel movies really). lol
What could be done in TLJ? Make their flagship… smaller? Spell this out in the crawl?
Most likely, it woulds have to be something done in the crawl.
I was also going to mention that I think I’ve thought of a way to handle the Force bond duel scene in a way that Rey’s parents aren’t brought up at all. I was stuck for so long because I was attached to keep the pacing as close to the theatrical as possible, but looking back at how Dom did it in his work print, I think you could do the same thing, but replace the one or two lines (and one quick vision) of Rey’s parents with the ominous future Exegol battle.
Ooh… Man, I feel like things are coming together for this!
Oh, man… I absolutely love that hand montage! While I’m still a fan of the Jedi voices, I also like that this sort of thing can be an option now as well for editors.
So, here’s something interesting that may or may not work better with the potential Rey Nobody version: BBGhost has worked on a version of the “Be With Me” scene that gets rid of the Jedi Voices for his all-in-one edit. With this, some additional editing could be done to make it so Rey see/hears things from HER past/the people she loves rather than the Ghosts of the Jedi Order. In that way, she uses her own strength or whatever to get up and defeat Palpatine rather than relying on Force Voices/Ghosts.
Of course, I’m not saying this should fully be the way to go for this edit. I love the Voices/Ghosts and I know a lot of people have spent a lot of time and effort getting them right. But, I do like that the option is out there for potential editors.
Death is meaningless in the Star Wars universe now.
Welp, these last two episodes have pretty much thrown a wrench into things, haven’t they? lmao.
Not to tell you how to edit your movie, Smudger. But personally speaking, I feel like there’s a couple of ways to approach the Mandoelephant in the room.
If you were to get right down to the brass tacks of the BOBF story, I would jettison most of the last episode and a lot of this episode of Mando on the Jedi World. In my mind, I would have Fennec say her line about hiring muscle and then immediately cut to the N1 coming to the Palace, making it be a big reveal that it’s Mando. OF course, you wouldn’t have an explanation of where he got this new ship from but honestly, why waste time explaining that? If you really need that sort of explanation, it could always be used in a Mando Season 3 edit. From there, you could take a lot of stuff left out and maybe put it into a Season 3 edit. It would honestly be up to your discretion but in my mind, I would maybe cut out the N1 acquiring all together, do the above for the Boba show and then put in the Mando Ring World and Jedi World scenes in a Season 3 edit (although I would personally cut down on the Robo Luke stuff from the Jedi World and just have Mando get there, be shunned, and then fly away until Grogu obviously reunites with him down the line).
Alternately, you could intermingle a lot of this stuff within the narrative of what’s going on Tatooine with Boba. However, I feel like a lot of the Tusken Raider stuff would have to be jettisoned out in order to make room for this Mando stuff. Honestly, it seems like it’s a choice between either keeping the Tusken flashbacks or fleshing out what’s going on with Mando (although if you were to cut out the Tusken stuff, you could always keep the scene of the Pyke train firing on them to establish how their gaining a foothold on the planet).
Of course, all this is up in the air with how the final episode will play out. Maybe another curveball will come our way. lmao.
But anyways, that’s just my two cents on this.
I really like this. Especially in a prequel trilogy edit that eliminates one of the films and puts Kenobi as a new Episode III (assuming that’s something we’ll be able to do).
It would be dope if someone would be able to take Kenobi, Andor and Rogue One and combine them all into a Frankenstein-esque Episode III.
Do you just mean Exegol in general? Because I think an edit that made the Kylo and Rey duel the climax would be intercut with the battle of Exegol, but it would just be focused on the Resistance stopping the fleet rather than anything to do with Palpatine. At least that’s how I see it playing out. Joshuabri’s edit goes for this idea.
Again, not arguing that it’s a radical change, this is the radical redux thread after all.
I haven’t watched Joshuabri’s edit yet. But honestly, I really love the idea of one of these films’ climaxes taking place in the span of lightyears away from one another.
Oh, man… As much as I love the original “Be with Me” scene in the theatrical, I really love the idea you have for it using quotes from the past trilogy.
Has anyone considered using the “Shot That Launched A Thousand Modern Day Star Wars Discourses”? Which I of course mean is this: https://static0.gamerantimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Kylo-ren-trailer.jpg
I feel like the only two places in the trilogy you could use this shot would either be:
or
The only thing I’m not too keen on with that sequence is that Chernobyl shot (just because I could pinpoint where it was from right away and it just seemed jarring with the comp’d in floor).
Speaking of recognition though, I’ve seen a couple of people use the Krypton explosion for MOS for the Death Star. But wow… Yours is probably the best integration of that I’ve seen! It was seamless.

Hopefully, these can help in regards to BB8!
