The one A.I. voice addition I’m not so sure about is Leia. I thought trimming out that whole “it’s what you would do” interaction was a much smarter change, and giving Rey back the lightsaber without a word feels more emotional and personal, Rey understands what she’s saying through her actions alone. It’s odd and unnecessary to have her spell things out from off-screen, and it’s the kind of dialogue we would remove if it was originally in the movie.

I agree with this. But I didn’t want to be the sole dissenting voice since everyone else seemed to be on board with it. Lol.

Finally, here’s a review for something called Dehancer that makes digital footage look like film. But I didn’t realize at first that it costs $449. You could almost buy your ship for that! 😉
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztmd8vbO1a4

Oh yeah, Dehancer is pretty cool. But it is crazy expensive. I know there’s other software out there that does the same sort of thing with differing prices (FilmConvert for $125, Color.io for $129, etc.) Of course, probably the most cheapest options out there is to just do your own sort of film emulation with cheaper plug-ins/what you already have. However, doing so is obviously more difficult and more time consuming in regards to research and all that plus the results might vary a lot depending on how you do it (which might honestly be kind of a good thing as well since it means it gives you a better senes of control with how you want the final product to look).

I’m basically using soundbites from the OT to train the clone so it should theoretically sound the same. I’m trying to get different takes to see if he gets closer. Do you think it is a performance issue? Is it too subdued?

I wonder if it would be better to use JEJ’s many audiobook narrations as a blueprint instead of stuff from the OT and just tweaking it to make it sound more like Vader. I know he’s at least done an audiobook for the Bible.

Would anyone be up for attempting to use AI to generate better takes of Temeura Morrison’s lines for Boba Fett in ESB?

what would those lines be?

I assume it’s these:

“As you wish.”

“He’s no good to me dead.”

“What if he doesn’t survive? He’s worth a lot to me.”

“Put Captain Solo in the cargo hold.”

This is such a cool and unique idea! I really hope it wasn’t abandoned.

This is on the shelf for the time being. I will return to it; the HD I was using died, so I’ll have to start over. But I have a lot more ideas and will try to post more concepts soon.

Damn… Hate hearing about your HD failing on you. But I look forward to seeing more of what you got whenever you post and I eagerly anticipate the final edit! 😃

Ok that could be interesting. I personally feel it’s unneeded but if people come up with a line I can generate to convey that idea then I will gladly do so.

As someone who’s been championing having a new final line for Ben, I know that in the novelization that Rey and he have a brief interaction as she’s flying away where he says “I will always be with you” and she replies “No one’s ever really gone”, echoing what Luke said to her earlier in the film. I think we could have him say both of these lines or maybe just one or the other to her telepathically (my preference would be the latter line).

Other than that, we could just add a couple of simple sort of lines throughout the last act of the movie after his turn during the fight scenes and stuff. I think a good place to maybe add some of these would be after he crawls out of the pit and right before he resurrects Rey where he’s kind of just looking around and cradling her dead body. I know in MR’s edit, he has him say something like “Dad…” during this moment as he helplessly looks around for guidance. But I think just having him mutter a “No” or “Rey…” during this scene could add wonders into the scene and just make the final moments of arguably one of the best characters in this trilogy be a bit less stoic.

EDIT: Actually, just got another idea as well, echoing the very first words we ever hear Kylo Ren say in this trilogy: “Look how far you’ve come”. It’s just a simple sort of reassurance and while it may be kind of cloying, I feel like it fits with some of the schlocky sort of sincerity and melodrama this series has sometimes. And on another note, it also kind of hearkens back to that moment in TFA when he’s all like “I can teach you the ways of the Force!” in a weird sort of roundabout way.

IDK, I’m just kind of spitballing some stuff here.

At the end of the day, I still think it’s a good asset to have crafted, regardless of whether or not it’ll be used in this particular edit. In the context of the upcoming Rey-centric movie that may or may not have Finn in it, I feel like it could be something that other fan editors could use in their own version of TROS that would maybe make things a bit more cohesive with the canon.

Info & Ideas: ESB and ROTJ Wishlist

BedeHistory731 said:

I’ve had a surprising idea for a radical restructuring of ROTJ - end it with TLJ’s Broom Kid finale. Give it a subtitle like “30 years later” or something like that, and show Luke’s story to be a myth inspiring people around the galaxy to find The Force. It wouldn’t work in a more faithful fan edit, but in something that tries to reinterpret the OT/saga, it could work.

This kinda rips off the idea of Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor (legends of Luke vs. reality of Luke), but that’s a good legends novel to emulate.

Honestly, I’ve had the same sort of idea as a hypothetical little experiment. Ending ROTJ as is but then pulling a Harry Potter and creating an epilogue scene using footage from TBOBF and The Force Awakens to show a new unnamed Jedi student approaching Luke Skywalker to wordlessly ask him train her in the ways of the Force.

The Prequel Radical Redux Ideas Thread

So, with the large technological advances of AI voice work and what not, I wonder how feasible it would be to re-dub all of General Grievous’ lines in ROTS with Gary Oldman, seeing that he was Lucas’ original first choice for the role. Obviously, there would be a couple of factors that would need to be looked into regarding it. First and foremost, whether Oldman has done any sort of audiobook work that could be used as the blueprint. And if there is no such thing and someone has to use sources such as interviews or even other movies he’s been in, there comes the little wrinkle of what sort of voice would you want Grievous to have? With how chameleonic Oldman is as an actor, would you want it to just be his regular accent and cadence? Or would you want it to be a copy of another one of his roles?

Anyways, I think this could be something interesting for an experimental sort of ROTS edit if it was at all possible.

Nothing new, nothing lost.

Very bold accusation you’re throwing around here. Do you have any proof of this?
Scans don’t just magically happen, they take a lot of time and effort.

I’d be very surprised if this accusation of yours is true, given that it’s been discussed and progress updates in the VFA discord.

A Discord Server. How quaint!

Ah, yes. The Sarcasm Defense. Making a baseless accusation and when proven wrong, just making a sarcastic response. Real L behavior.

So no one can configure it for an M1 version? Just ignore the post and pretend Mac users don’t want/need this software? I wish it was available to all in a paid version where it didn’t crash or just not even open.

Perhaps you should try and develop a version for M1. Otherwise just try to appreciate that some of us develop these tools in their spare time for free, and don’t have the time to cater to every individual user’s needs.

Has nothing to do with “individual needs.” Why would I “appreciate” something I can’t use anymore? Apple is M1 now, and most video editors with on Mac. People have been posting Mac links and they DO NOT work. So yeah, sucks that you and others admonish half the people out there just because you offer something for "free’ that doesn’t work then scold them for it. Sad. man. As an editor who used the tool, its a shame you have that attitude and don’t care that many can’t use it anymore instead of “fixing” it for free or, as I said, CHARGING for it, because I know a lot of people who would pay that can’t use at anymore. Food for thought, dude. It’s an amazing tool and the people I know who can’t use it anymore are struggling to find something else. But I figured since that one dude keeps posting a Mac link like it works that all was good, when it actually isn’t. When a lot of people who do editing with on Mac, then it has nothing to do with “individual needs”… its a lot of people’s needs. And they would pay for the efforts.

All I said was its a shame it doesn’t work for a lot of people anymore, and you ignored tat, until I posted again, then you chose to attack me. So, cool, dude. Be proud of your software that doesn’t work.

Pardon my ignorance but iMovie I think has a pretty decent color match tool now and that comes with every Mac basically. Plus, I’m sure you can just look up some other ones that are compatible on the Internet and even if it’s stuff you’d need to pay for, you could find ways to “acquire” it through other means if you REALLY need it that badly. Put in the work. Otherwise, you just need to seethe and cope, my dude.

Yes, I created a line for that. I’ll go digging for it momentarily.

Did you also want to put in the new Kylo lines for their first Skype call on Pasaana? I believe it went: “My mother doesn’t see the darkness in you. Your friends don’t either. But I do.” This would be replacing the previously-deleted “I’m going to find you and I’m going to turn you to the dark side.”

I still think it would be worth looking into crafting a “Ghost Ben” line for when Rey is leaving Exegol to both tie more into the novelization and to not make the last line Adam Driver says in these movies be “Ow.”

Where would that go? Over the shot of Rey looking down at his empty clothes? Also, what would he even say?

The only way for me to get a decent Adam Driver voice would be to buy his audio book, so it would have to be a really important line for me to even consider it.

EDIT: Hal, I can see to those things.

In the novelization, he talks to her while she’s in the cockpit flying out of the rubble in Exegol and says “I will always be with you”.

Again, it’s not super necessary and I don’t want you to go through the trouble if you don’t think it’ll work or is too much of a hassle. But it would be nice to have the other major character in this trilogy have a more poignant final line. But that’s just me.

Thank you, BrotherOfSasquatch. I appreciate the feedback!
I’ve had some trouble finding free stock footage for elements that will work (not interested in paying for anything right now).
So, actually, if anyone knows of a website or a certain youtube channel that has decent free stock footage, let me know! 😁

I could probably help you out with this. I’ve got a pretty extensive backlog of stock footage/assets that I’ve saved up for a rainy day (no pun intended). Just let me know what sort of stuff you need and I could look through my archives and send you a link with all of it.

Not that I can think of for TLJ. Maaaaybe he could say “lesson three” or something like it for TROS. Even then I’m not sold on the change, so it may not be worth training a whole AI just to try it out.

+1 to this idea. I know that this happened on account of a deleted scene from TLJ but I hate how the “Third Lesson” is just a dangling thread left in these movies.

I’m fairly pleased with this FX shot I created. Ok, well, really I found some free stock footage and I pieced together…but it comes together pretty nicely imo. Hopefully, I can continue to get better with fx (why are they so hard for me?😆)

https://youtu.be/3i444Dqut-I

skip to the end to see it in context.😁

Decided to comment on here rather than on your videos like I usually do. Lol

Anyways, WOW. That is marked improvement over the original shot you had! It looks really great. The only thing I’d suggest is maybe adding in some more atmospheric elements into the shot (fog/haze, maybe even more rain, etc.) to help hide the “cut outedness” of Tipoca City and to make everything look more cohesive.

Other than that, nicely done!

Talking about that, what about giving the man some new lines so his last words won’t be “hmmph”? Could even be after his body vanishes, Rey could hear “i’ll always be with you” or something.

Isn’t this what basically happened in the novelization? I think his spirit says something along those lines as she flies away from Exegol.

In any case, +1 on having a new final line for Ben.
