Update/correction:

The WAV file HAL has provided with v2.1 does not open in eac3to, but does open in mkvtoolnix - after freezing the program for a few minutes.

I just clicked “multiplex” and it seems to be taking forever but working. Will update this post when it finishes (or crashes).

JEDIT: Muxing failed with mkvtoolnix.

So converting the .wav is a must? I just downloaded MKVToolNix GUI and googling tutorials, haha! I can’t understand why adding an extra audio track in a video file can be so difficult.

Yes, it too is located within the Google Drive folder linked to on the ‘red… it’ site. It’s a .wav file, as pure of an output as I can provide.

Thank you so much Hal!

Collipso, would you be so kind and help me out with the audio track muxing? Do I need to convert the .wav to some other extension (PCM?) you talked about earlier?

I’ll include the lossless wav audio (for nerds) as a separate download, though not in the full-sized release.

Looking for help with this one in advance. Anyone interested in muxing in the lossless audio for us “non-technical folk”? 😃
TFA:R is my definitive version so I don’t mind even if the size goes up to 30+ GB.

Cheers, Papa Hal! You the man!

Perfect, thanks! Rendering video streams now while waiting for the vocal clips to come in and be vetted.

I got a submission via PM, so unless the source wishes to reveal himself, here is a candidate. He says he can re-record the line, so consider this a test of the voice rather than the specific performance here.

Sounds great! Of course, it sticks out at the moment as it’s supposed to but… I wonder if it should sound just a bit more “posh” (as in Hux accent)? So hard to try and explain via text, haha! “Weapon prIMed in thirTY seconDS”…

The Last Edit, opps I mean The Last Jedi.

First, allow at least a time space jump of a few months maybe a year past in between Ep. 7 and 8. It’ll solve the fanboys whining about the Mary Rey Sue complex.

Second, have a Han Solo funeral, with a cameo of Lando.

Remove Poe’s trolling Hux during the opening battle. Those insults jokes belong in a Disney MCU movie with StarLord not a Star Wars movie. How can we fear or respect the power of the villains after a scene like that?

I don’t mind the Mary Leia Poppins scene, but just to please the fanboys, show Luke doing the same thing during the final battle. To remove doubt that it can’t be done.

Do not kill Snoke, instead revel him to be Darth Plagueis and he mastermind and planned everything for Palpatine. As the First Order was to destroy the Jedi and stop the Chosen One, which he uses the dark side powers to create the false Prophet Anakin. Making Snoke Luke’s grandfather and Ren’s great granddad.

Ren and Rey’s team up attack on Snoke fails, as his guards protect him.

Rey has no parents, she IS the true Chosen One.

Remove the Casino planet scenes completely, have Rose be the hacker needed and have Maz lead the Rebels to find “DJ” for help. DJ will be the grown up version of Ezra Bridger. Del Tora’s character would have a bigger role as more soldiers to join the Rebels for Ep. 9.

Have Rey leave R2 on Ach To with Luke.

Re edit Luke raising his Xwing and leaving Ach To after sensing Leia near death.

Re edit Leia not Holdo commands the Rebel Cruiser to lightspeed thru the First Order.

Re edit Luke and Leia saying hi/goodbye as Luke’s force projection.

Re edit those Ren - Rey force skyping scenes as only voices not visuals.

Have Luke’s Xwing get shot down by Ren’s ship, when he gets to Crait for real, only for him to Mary Poppins to the ground while deflecting shots back at the At At’s destroying them and than have Luke use the force to dismantle Ren’s ship.

Have Rey and the Falcon pick up Luke, during his battle with Ren, after the Rebels retreat with the Silver Foxes.

No Cpt. Phasma, her character was wasted in both movies. Leave her dead in the garbage shoot on Starkiller Base.

No lame staple kid uses the force for the ending. That was cheesy bad.

That’s not how fan editing works!

…unless we go with my initial idea and collect a couple of hundred million dollars (from OT members, of course!) to reshoot the whole movie.

IMO the reason why they show the books in the end is for us to get some kind of clarification that Rey will be teaching herself more about the Force and the Jedi… since Luke only gave her two lessons and he isn’t around anymore (in flesh).

Also something just came to mind: When Rey first found the books inside… what did she mean by “I know this place”? Did she mean the island or that tree?

Some ideas that come to mind after one viewing:

 • Remove as much Porg presence as possible

 • Remove Luke getting some blue milk

 • Remove Leia’s Superman moment (straight into the healing chamber?)

 • Trim Canto Bight heavily (get to DJ as soon as possible and remove / trim the CGI fest after with the space horses)

 • Remove Maz Kanata’s “Battlefront 2” Skype call

 • Remove LOADS of “funny stuff” throughout the film (starting with Poe Dameron’s cringe-y “General Hugs”)

I don’t think Phasma is dead. I can see her coming back scarred and part cybernetic in the next one.

Third time’s the charm, aye? 😉

I loved Luke in the movie. He was a man, not a legend and I think people wanted to see Super Saiyan Luke and were disappointed, even though he did that kick ass projection trick.

I wish he would’ve at least “died” during an actual duel, Obi-Wan style. I always thought we’d maybe see him go Somewhat Saiyan on the Knights of Ren… if those guys even exist?

The Last Jedi: Official Review and Opinions Thread ** SPOILERS **
Time

My pros and cons… well, I’ll go with cons for now. I’m seeing it again on Sunday so I’ll try to catch the pros then.

These points are not in chronological order:

 • First of all… f**k Porgs and everything they stand for! Chewie had already BBQ’d one and then he got harassed by those “vegan eyes” from the rest of the living Porgs. Let the poor ol’ Wookie decide what he consumes. Also the fact that those critters invaded the Falcon… argh!

 • General Leia Organa having a “Peter Pan / Superman / Mary Poppins” moment in outer space after getting blasted out of the command deck by a barrage of proton missiles.

 • The non-stop Marvel / Disney “funny” lines in every other scene which just didn’t click for me. Good humor has its time and place.

 • Canto Bight casino side quest was a bore and it didn’t lead anywhere in the end.

 • Benicio Del Toro’s character was as fruitless as he was shady. Oh… and his name was DJ, folks! But in the movie he didn’t even need to introduce himself because he seemed like such a nice bloke and trustworthy right from the start. “We don’t need to know your name or anything but come with us if you say you are a codebreaker!”

 • In the “battle” of Crait… our heroes throttle their speeders towards the mighty “Death Star technology” cannon. But the speeders aren’t armed in any way so I guess it was the plan all along to just kamikaze the cannon? Finn almost succeeded but unfortunately Rose had already fallen in love with him during the few days they’d known each other.

 • The worst of all… Snoke. Who was he? Where did he come from? What did he do to become Supreme Leader? First TFA introduces this mysterious new “Big Bad” and get us all speculating / theorizing for 2 years. Our reward? The gold-robed hat rack gets sliced in half just like that! Also Snoke’s elite guards… what a glorious bunch. They totally gave Kanjiklub a run for their money. Most impressive job protecting your boss.

 • Captain Phasma… this time she was supposed to show her true colors and get really involved in the story. Well, thank you for the amazing minutes before dying!

 • General Hux is still utterly useless. I have no idea how that guy got promoted to General and how anyone would follow his orders? He tries so hard to be defiant… and then Kylo the Man just pussywhips him like it ain’t no thang.

 • Oh yes, our new Supreme Leader Ben Solo / Kylo Ren. I really liked the character more when he was actually intimidating with the helmet. But yeah… let’s just destroy the helmet and let his hair flow free. His motivations were unclear as well. He wanted Rey to join him, “let the past / everything die” and rule the galaxy together as father and s… you know what I mean. After Rey refuses, he seems to forget all about letting everything die and just hops on the Supreme Leader wagon.

 • We have been following these new characters for over 4 hours now and we still don’t know ANYTHING about their background or history.

 • How does Poe Dameron know Maz Kanata and how did they know to ask her about some codebreaker?

 • If Poe Dameron doesn’t agree with the leadership, he’ll just start a mutiny at a critical moment and people actually support him. Of course, there will be no repercussions later because he is a troublemaker (“Haha, that’s so Poe!”) and Holdo likes that kind of thing?

 • RIP Yoda puppet… what have they done to you?

 • Luke… oh Luke… you bearded, alien-milking, pole vaulting island hermit. Thanks for all your effort in this movie. We were lucky that the Force has good reception / service all the way from Ahch-To.

Episode VIII : The Last Jedi - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *
Time

Just came from the theater. All I can say is that I’m excited about JJ Abrams coming back for IX. Also very excited for the future fan edits with all the f****ng porgs removed. It seems that the best part about TLJ were the trailers. Maybe I just need to see it again and lower my expectations significantly for the next one.

DigMod tried a reduced version that was almost totally convincing (he might have cut a little too much but overall it was better than the theatrical cut without creating continuity issues).

In my opinion DigMod’s version of rathtars is the best we can get (without causing any continuity issues). Chewie just needs to take one for the team and that’s about it. 😄

About the scene itself: the rathtars devour all of Kanjiklub in a matter of seconds but for some reason one of them starts dragging Finn somewhere? Why, oh why? Also… what a way to waste the talent of the Raid cast.

I just watched the original TFA with my 60-year old father (because I haven’t made Finnish subtitles for Restructured yet). After the movie I showed him why this edit was made. He agreed that we will be watching Restructured from now on because it seems to make a bit more sense, haha! I also pointed out to him that Leia ignores Chewie when they return from SKB and he got a little pissed after realizing it (read: cannot unsee). 😄

This was probably not meant to be removed in this edit but after Finn’s “they’ve found us”, Han and Finn are with Maz in the basement and she goes “those beasts, they’re here” as in they didn’t inform her? Just “those beasts…” would’ve been enough. Super nitpicky, I know. I can live with it though. The Rathtars are still my biggest gripe. Other than that… this movie feels like a masterpiece now.

Sir Ridley said:

😄 First I cobbled together a replacement background using frames from the movie and some painting. I then inserted that background over the original shot and made it follow the camera movement, and added new film noise over it to match the rest of the shot. I then cut out the unnecessary bits of the replacement background so it only covers Kylo Ren and a little bit of background and leaves Hux intact. This is how I did the timecode removal for the deleted scenes as well, even though that was more complex.

You’re a wizard, Ridley. 😎
