That's what I understand will happen too, as I stated above. He is planning on expanding the space battle with more (new) B-Wing and A-Wing action and more (new) footage of Rebel commandos fighting against the Imperials on Endor, of which I am most certainly in favor of (and neither additions defy the lore)... he can shoot all kinds of new stuff, however, we are limited with how much footage there is involving the OT characters - that's what I meant.

My guess is that his additions will go much further than that but I could be wrong. Personally, I couldn't care less about the lore this flawed movie has established, so that's why I'm more in favour of drastic changes. None of which would require additional footage of existing characters. :)

Well, I am all in for more "Space Battle", especially from A- and B-Wings (they got some great concept and marketing pictures, but no or minimal screentime) :-D

The "heroes" are the central part of the movie, that is a given, but why shouldn't there be more characters we follow through the movie?

maybe replace some side/background characters and film new footage featuring them, so we have more material to cut into the bits and pieces we have with our classic band - easy part would be new footage with people who wear masks and heavy costumes (C3P0, Chewie, Vader ... Troopers?)

So many ideas out there, just needing to be condensed, and the result would be (hopefully) the movie we would have liked to see back then in the 80's ;-)

Good points and arguments pro and con here, and as a fan who started with RotJ, the first movie of the saga I saw at the cinema, my favorite moments came from the comics (Marvel and Dark Horse) because they were bold and didn't repeat ideas (ok some things are too good not to shed light from another angle).

My point is, that "Star Wars" as a standalone movie worked fine, as a part of a larger saga it needed attention, which Adywan gave it - "Empire" had Kershner, who understood that a sequel and a possible middle-part must put the heroes into grave danger and even death (so Han Solo was in real peril not just "oops wrong way") - then came "Jedi", and again, as a "lone film" it worked somehow (as I meant above) without knowledge who and what the rest was, but as a third part (and conclusion) of this trilogy (and saga) it is a very "stupid" funpark-ride - in retrospective meant to sell toys and dolls :-(

So should we leave ALL the bad parts be? or would it be better to twist and replace (if possible or feasable) until we have a coherent/harmonious trilogy (or saga, if the PT can be adjusted).

I like the second DS, but the role it has is not the one it should have, and yes the Rebellion grew from movie to movie, so it makes sense storywise that the galaxy wants to overthrow its unwanted dictator and topple the seat of power: Coruscant - with all means possible (even if they all go down in flames and leaving a galaxy burned and scarred, but FREE at last from the Sith suppression)!

Well, it could work in both plots:

- one where Dooku is "The Master" and Maul & Vader are his followers

Palpatine waits for his moment to take over, he has the bigger picture in mind

- the other where Sidious is the "real" master of Dooku and gives orders to him offscreen, we only see Tyrannus in what were scenes with Sidious

hm, the idea to have a Dooku, that is NOT Sith, is still interesting, it could forshadow what will happen with Anakin ...

So we could have Dooku instead of Sidious, until "Palpatine" reveals himself as "Sith" to Mace Windu ?

hm, with "confusing" Maul and Anakin as Luke's father: I rather would think Vader is lying to lure Luke to the Dark Side or other possibilities as for "Obi-Wan killed your father" (or OB1 is your father ...)

as I mentioned before, if Maul has NO scene with "Padme", why should he be Luke's father ?!

Sidious snatching the burned body and turning it into "Darth Vader" works really well, if the face closeups are cut - so the transformation is kept and even the hidious "NO" could be redone to something meaningful ;-)

as for another connection, some have brought up: the apperance of Yoda (in the PT/general) - I never had the impression that some other "Jedi Warrior" would be on Dagobah, it was the same introduction used as for Obi-Wan, the only person in a desolated place, knowing the "name" => 1+1=2 meaing HE is the guy (who Luke sought)

therefore the "great" mystery of Yoda isn't one, at least not for me (or others) - but he should play a minor role in the PT - the idea suggested, he should be like the Dalai Lama (the template for that figure) and guide ALL or single Jedi in training (as Ben told Luke ...)

Of course I have ;-)

tried to build a "mock" (or "Proto-Vader") out of both action figures - still needs some tweaking, but the idea is there ...

ok, what I wanted to achieve is, that there is still the "twist" or suprise "who is Darth Vader ?" - not that we follow Anakin down his "dark" path

with Maul and him, having similar injuries, the viewer an be lead to believe, maybe Obi-Wan meant Maul and not Anakin, when he tells Luke the tale (still need adjustment, but it's easier than calling OB1 a liar and so)

^This!

there are many little things that could have been used from OT to make the PT more "canon" ...

Anyway, I had some thoughts when reading about the final of Rebels and possible connections to Clone Wars:

- it would have been cool, to see two or even three "Sith" battle against each other (like was done in the Clone Wars), giving this idea more weight:

-- we have the character of "Maul", who acts as "General" for Sidious/Dooku, in Episode 1 he is wounded, but not killed, in E2 he is then presumed dead, only to reappear in E3 as "Grievous" (or "Vader")

in parallel to this, Anakin has similar trials, and loses arm/legs along the way to the final confrontation - ending with his duel against "Maul" (aka "Grievous")

So where does that leave Obi-Wan? maybe he didn't duel him then (resulting the lava beach and later breath-suit), maybe OB1 just faced "Vader" and held him off, to help someone (Padme or Bail Organa) escape to safety (or hiding) ...

Ah the possibilities ...

yes, I know what you mean Bingo, but it could turn out in different ways:

- the plan is to capture the Emperor or invade Coruscant in a desperate strike to end the civil war (in which Palpatine traps the rebel fleet)

- our heroes (after or instead of Han's rescue) steal the protoype* to help the trapped fleet (some tweaking needs to be done here)

- no prototype side-story / heroes meet with fleet, mostly happens as in original, only that there are more DS / Palpatine crushes his own ships / DS#2 or SuperStarDestroyer moves against other DS (with Emperor on it)

I see some options as to what and why - Palpatine sacrificing his troops (the Superlaser could blow up ships or he could order to shoot at Endor, as was considered - therefore driving some Admirals and Captains to defect/refuse to obey orders)

* I think the prototyp more of the basic parts, the generator(core) and the attached Superlaser - maybe some operational stations, but in general it should not be finished (maybe even the laser isn't tested yet and they ram the thing into the other like the SSD did)

add to "capture prototype": maybe the heroes try to infiltrate DS#2 instead of landing on Endor - so the "bait" could be used as suggested above to damage the finished DS and helping the rebel fleet (it could all happen in Coruscants orbit, so the end-battle isn't divided over half the galaxy)

I really like those ideas ...

but it still has that repeat of ANH - so to enhance this, maybe our heroes find/capture a prototype to battle the new DS?

at least this would scrap another "we need to fly into/through the trench" solution and making it an epic conclusion (if we decide to stop and not continue with Episode 7-9)

must meditate on this new events ;-)

@Bingo

I meant this idea(s) from the first draft (or concept art) - giving the final battle some more weight, against as to why it would be in the middle of nowhere ...

as for Coruscant, Siege and Emperor: it would be interesting for the Rebellion to capture or kill Palpatine and since (if one keeps) the Siege in Episode 3 (or somewhere in the PT) it is easy to explain as to why the Emperor isn't anymore on Coruscant, "living" on a secret base (Korriban/Morriband?) - and remember the Senate was dissolved in ANH, so Coruscant is the toothless lion

The assault would involve Endor with the shield-generator (the idea to have the/a Jedi temple there is a nice one), the rebel fleet against one or more DS (because it would be logical to build more than one between ANH and ROTJ) and Lukes confrontation with the Emperor

for "the trap" would also mean, the imperial fleet could stand down, because there would be enough firepower in hiding and only a personal escort is present for Palpatines arrival ...

So I had a "radical" idea for both the OT and the PT (in making it less redundant and connection it more together):

first I would drop the second Deathstar - moving the battle to Coruscant (to the end of RotJ), like it was meant in the "first draft" - the duel would then be on the planet or inside, what works best.

as an alternative to removing the half-finished DS, there could be 2(!) - one unfinished, more open (maybe just the super-laser) and one finished (hidden in off-sight) There should not be the complete imperial fleet in orbit.

Connecting with the PT: maybe replace the droid-control-ships with  "space/battle-stations" (foreshadowing the first DS)

instead of just showing the plans for the "ultimate weapon", let them build a prototype, not as refined and big as the real DS, but close enough for Obi-Wan to recognize years later, how similar in design ...

they did something like that in the Clone Wars series ...

maybe the idea to move the underwater city and combine it with the cloning facility is the most promising ?

so the Bond plot makes Obi-Wan the Jedi Agent (hey even his investigation scenes could come handy!) we want or need ;-)

the whole water-planet/underwater city could really be at one location, meaning one ocean on "Naboo" or "Alderaan" - so the connection can be made without too much space travel, where it isn't needed.

would be cool to have a sunny look at the cloning facility, without the rain and storm ...

it sounded to me more like Ben mocked Vader with his "title", as later the Emperor does with Luke, when he sneers at him "Jedi" ...

But for the name-calling and the overuse of "Darth", there shouldn't be that many Sith-Lords, infact I would rather have one or two "Lords", the rest should be dark or fallen Jedi ;-)

Ideally we would have seen a story about the adventures of Obi-Wan, how he grew from Padawan/Knight to Master and his failure/s to teach a student aka losing him to the Dark Side ...

maybe on a sidenote we see his "sidekick" Skywalker (Anakin?) and some other guys - like the team/trio, that made the OT good and interesting ;-)

I like the "shadow" thing you suggest, Bingo - it puts "Phantom Menace" back into the story!
