STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Just found this while searching for sounds for my own edit.

http://www.starwars.com/vault/books/sounds_of_star_wars/index.html

"In The Sounds of Star Wars, an aurally astonishing and visually engaging book, New York Times best-selling author J. W. Rinzler reveals the illuminating history behind the sounds of the Star Wars universe. With behind-the-scene stories, photographs and sound clips, fans will discover the origins of sounds from their favorite scenes. An attached sound module with an exterior speaker and headphone jack lets readers listen to more than 250 unique sound effects. More than 300 photographs illustrate the Saga's many memorable scenes."

It would be a lot more straightforward (and less kiddy) if they'd included all the sounds on a CD, however I'm sure there's some technically minded folk out there who could jerry-rig a means to extract the sounds from the module (or just use the headphone jack to record directly). I'm assuming the sounds are of a decent enough quality if they've thought to incorporate a headphone jack.

This'd truly be my (and any fan editor's) dream come true, and would come in handy for any of Ady's future edits.

The logic there is that Dooku would be the first Jedi we see with a Green saber, so it's more ambiguous. One could say he could be seen to be walking the grey path rather than the narrow and dogmatic way of the Jedi or the oppression and subjugation of the sith.

Then when we see Luke with a green saber too, we think back to dooku and how he failed and we wonder if Luke will succeed.

Nevertheless, I'm still not sure about what I'd prefer. I do like the idea of ROTJ being the first time we ever see a green saber though...

I gotsta question. If we coda the Grevious/Maul bit in Episode 2, would it lose anything for the audience when Obi-wan finds out in Epidose 3?

And more importantly, how does he realize?

I've thought about this a lot (which I shouldn't really be doing as I'm still working on Episode 2) but I think it would be amazing if Obi Wan realises it's Maul in the closeup of Grevous' eyes where he originally says "you must realise you are doomed" (redubbing Grevious and replace the eyes with Maul's)

Of course, ignoring the complexities of replacing the eyes in motion throughout the film, if you leave the scene with Obi Wan meeting him on the bridge (which 'TheCutter' has excised in his recent edit) it seems a bit implausible that he won't have recognised the eyes sooner.

I mean stylisticaly speaking that could offer a confusion that these movies are like star wars or cheap rip offs that trying to catch the feel of star wars aswell.

See what happens to the EU and more specific to the games. They still have some starwars-y characteristics(lightsabers and white troopers) but they feel so wrong and cheap.

Isn't that what the prequels are like already? They don't feel like Star Wars to me despite the Star Warsy setting and weapons etc.

Well considering that this is Tatooine and a lot of parts are scavenged, one can assume droids are cobbled together from disparate parts - old vocoders from widely different droids etc. That's part of the charm of Tatooine. It's gritty.

Also we've seen 3 protocol droids in the saga, all of which have different voices, so I don't see it as a problem. Try not to think of 3PO when making a judgment on the voice. I just want to know if it works as the voice of "A droid".

Also posted in my own thread. I figure more people will see it here:

Not a final version yet as I'm still not happy with it when the droid speaks for the second time. I have quite a few different sound files to play with though so I'll have a more thorough stab at it soon.

The subtitles I intend to add will explain that Anakin did come back to free Shmi, but left to become a Jedi. I'm seeing the droid as a disgruntled servant much like Kreacher in Harry Potter, so he won't be very friendly.

Having such a rude protocol droid may explain why Owen has "no need for a protocol droid" in ANH ;)

^This. I'm all for removing the current shots as the height of the AT-STs compared to the AT-ATs just makes no sense, however I'd love it if Ady could insert them elsewhere instead. Even if it's really subtle :)

Having said that, ROTJ is always accused of recycling stuff from the previous movies. This way, the AT-ST becomes its own baby, rather than borrowed as it were.
