No doubt doubleofive will get this on the wordpress site soon enough, but in the meantime....

Not much happening this week. All work on the speeder flaps is now complete and all the video work for those have been completed and added into the editing timeline. Next thing to do is get the HiC finished and out of the way. But i may just start sculpting the Wampa first instead. Not too sure yet. The HiC is taking up a little too much space in my workroom so probably best to get that done first.
I may well start to sell off some items soon, depending on how much interest there would be in them. Things like the speeder flap, sections of the asteroid canyon etc. I have also been thinking about doing a strictly limited edition run of a cast from the shield generator model, fully painted ( can't sell the original as that is one of the donators prizes up for grabs). This will help fund the next films as there is a hell of a lot to do with those ones and ESB:R is going to look like a walk in the park compared to those. lol

^^ Same here. I recall it was mentioned that ROTJR will be altered more than ANHR & ESBR. So I'm VERY curious about Ady's plans for the Jabba sequence and cannot wait for the eventual thread where we can all discuss it and offer ideas.
Please Please PLEASE let something be done about the Ewoks!! Suspension of disbelief can only go so far, and teddy bears defeating professional soldiers in armor always kicked me right out of the movie.
Hopefully we'll get a sneak peek at the hanger shots as they come together... Can't wait to see what's changed.
Not that I expect Ady to manage anything on this level, but I always thought it'd be more elegant if the entire forest was fighting the Empire having been disturbed by the battle eg. Stormtroopers chase Ewoks into a clearing, who disappear into the bushes, then a giant plant monster grabs and eats the Stormtroopers. You could even use CG to have monsters/living vines pulling DOWN the AT-ST instead of the daft tripping on logs bit that happens in the original.
The forest, apart from the noises, always did seem a bit devoid of life.Basically, the ending from Avatar, Ewok Edition.
I'd be happy with just some Rebel troops added into the battle, with the Ewoks downplayed, and add in some of the deleted footage of Han Solo's team fighting their way into the base to set the explosives.
Back on topic: Has Ady or anyone else put together a blu ray cover yet? I'm pumped to get it ready for ESB:R's release!
If i remember correctly, the order of his workflow is first him completing the visual side of things, then the sound and then he releases a standalone version (just a video file). Only then does he work on the Disc Menu and cover art. So unless his workflow has changed dramatically, that's what you ought to expect.
Others may have already made their own covers in anticipation though.

well to be far it's kinda easy to get off topic. The edit is in it's final stages, and there's very little to suggest that a) isn't already in the edit b) hasn't already been rejected and c) could realistically be added in at this point. Ady's work has consistantly been excellent so the only thing left to be said is terrific work and can't wait for the edit to be released, and those have both been said countless times. So the only thing to really talk about is the future edits, especially those (ESPECIALLY the PT) will have far more fundamentally different edits than ANH:R and ESB:R have produced
....which is why I suggested the thread that was created for the sole reason of these alternative topics of discussion (that is, related to the Revisited saga but not necessarily Episode V)
You just said yourself the only things left to discuss are things that could realistically be added to Episode V. Anything else is clogging up the thread and might mean that important stuff getting buried.
We're all guilty of going off topic once in a while, but don't try and be a smart ass about it when I was polite and offered the relevant place to discuss it.
Not trying to spoil people's fun, but you should probably take all the speculation on the roles of the droids in other films to the Unofficial Revisited Saga thread......

I've also read on this and the Radical Redux thread about the varying suggestions on lightsaber colors. Here's my humble opinion:
I'm not a big fan of the "Lite Brite" approach of having every color of the rainbow. George kind of set a precedent with the notion of blue=good, red=bad, and this works. I really like the suggestion from the Radical Redux thread of making the Jedi lightsabers varying shades of blue. Since it's a crystal inside the hilt that determines the blade color, different cuts or imperfections from one crystal to the next would cause slight variations in color. We see this all the time in diamonds and other gemstones. I also like the idea of letting Luke have the first green saber as it symbolizes a new start for the Jedi order, plus it could mean that he may have had to improvise a little bit with a different type of crystal (but no on-screen explanations, please).
This consistency of blue could apply to Mace, Dooku, and Anakin as well. No purple to make Mace "special", and a blue for Dooku to keep him a good Jedi, even if taking his own approach to the problem. I think one of the few things George got right was keeping Anakin's lightsaber blue during his duel with Obi Wan. I thought for sure he would make it red, but I'm glad he didn't treat it like a mood ring.
Now, before you say that it would look really boring with 30 blue lightsabers in one shot, I'm also going to echo Plinkett in that there are WAY too many lightsabers in the PT. It really missed the opportunity to explore the spiritual side of the Force. Instead, we got midichlorians and excuses to show off lightsabers in every scene. If that could be reduced, the varying hues of blue sabers could be very effective.
Again, this is just my opinion and Ady may already have one on the issue, but just thought I'd cast my vote.
This is something I looked at a while ago and really want to see happen.
I even tinkered with doing global colour correction on Geonosis to make all the sabers blue without rotoscoping:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jam2WqcjGC4
I can tell that Ady would always go for a full rotoscope though, being a perfectionist. My test has some significant green bleed.
Sorry to resurrect this thread, but what music documentary have you sourced from? The official released soundtrack is a joke. I'm looking for a particular piece of music from the Extended Edition which occurs when Bilbo is speaking to Elrond about the Dwarves not wanting him on the journey (which then extends into the bit with the Dwarves messing around nude in the water). It doesn't appear to be anywhere!
I'm aware there's an alternate (significantly different) version of it on the track 'The White Council' but that's not what i'm after unfortunately. I wonder how long it'll take to release a 'Complete Recordings' set for these movies.....

This is an old one, but in regards to the first pages subject of Yoda in the Prequels.. would it be possible to do Yoda akin to the Wizard in THE WIZARD OF OZ, to the degree that you never see him as the tiny muppet, but only as an imposing hologram (maybe this is where Palpatine gets his idea of communication from)? Maybe through bit players added in, it could be suggested that not only is Yoda never seen, but no one knows where he lives... that those Jedi who reach the level high enough to be trained by hm are given the "hood over the head and thrown in the car trunk" treatment, so when they come to they don't know they're on Dagobah.*
* Yes, Obi tells Luke to go to the Dagobah system in EMPIRE, but the procedures the Jedi had would have been long gone, and things being what they were, I don't think Ben had the time to beat around the bush anymore.
In regards to Tattooine in JEDI, there is nothing saying that Jabba isn't located on a different part of the planet that ISN'T a desert.. we ARE talking about an entire planet.
Same thing with the prequels. You can either call it something else other than Tattooine, or use CG and other methods to create greens and different colors (as well as other alterations to the basic and background scenery) to differentiate it with what we see in ANH.
I would consider getting rid of Jabba's scene in TPM (as in: he's not on Tattooine yet) and insert him on Geonosis, per the idea above that the events in the prequels led him to becoming a thief and a scoundrel.
I like the idea of using Prowse for the unveiled Vader scenes. His voice would have to be altered to a lower pitch (to account for Jones' voice coming out the mask), but otherwise would be a nice way of acknowledging the man who wore the suit in all 3 OT films.
The wizard of Oz Yoda hologram idea is EXACTLY what i've proposed previously in this thread and the Prequel Radical Redux thread. :) I think it's a must, personally, though Ady has previously stated he believes Yoda's identity was never intended to be a surprise for the audience, only to Luke. Personally I think it WOULD have been a surprise (and should have) had it not been for all the promo material around featuring him, prior to release. I'm still hoping Ady seriously considers this treatment of Yoda in his edits.

The Emperor would know about Luke Skywalker by this point. He's the guy that blew up the friggin Death Star. Word gets around.
I'm not entirely convinced of this, considering the Rebels are an underground group in hiding and trying to keep the location of their base (and presumably anything that could connect them to the Rebels - e.g. their names and involvement) a secret.
Ultimately it doesn't make a difference in the context of the line anyway. Even if he does know his name, it doesn't automatically mean he'd refer to him by it. The Emperor might be more grandiose than that. I think saying "Young Skywalker" rather than Luke suits him. Very theatrical.
Makes no difference to me either way.
Actually, Kili doesn't have to get shot by the arrow. Those barrels are moving pretty violently. It's safe to assume he might have just been injured from knocking about. As long as you cut all the stuff mentioning a 'Morgul shaft', which was just an unnecessary and clumsy parallel with Frodo in Fellowship (has Jackson become George Lucas?!), then you can still have him recuperating in Lake town but without the stupidly long 'barrel battle'.
Likewise, there's then no need for Tauriel to follow as it's not a life threatening injury that requires Elvish magic to heal, so we can put a stop to this interspecies romance before it goes any further. Then there's no need for the Orc attack on Laketown or seeing any more of fucking LEGOLAS, which I find the most objectionable fan service in this whole mess.
^I don't know how to fix the text above......I had to copy and paste it because the site went down when I was originally posting it and now the text stays dark no matter how I edit it. Sorry folks!

I wonder if Mike Stoklasa would be interested in just saying "Luke" if the Ian McDarmid clip isn't sufficient. He does a mean Emperor....
You may have been joking, but actually that's not a bad idea at all.
Just as Ady was on a search for someone who can digitally replicate an explosion for the generator, he could go on a search for someone who can do a really good emperor voice.. get a recording of them saying "Luke" for this scene, then seamlessly fit it in. This may be the best option, instead of using a "Luke" said by Ian with a different pitch/tone.
And of course keep this same person handy when it comes time for doing the prequels/ROTJ, just in case there's changing/adding/improving of dialogue ;)
I was definitely at least half serious. Stoklasa (and his team) really "get" Star Wars and film in general, as seen in his prequel reviews. If he was actually interested, it would add some extra geek cred to Revisited as well as further spread the word.
Unfortunately, I Iearnt last night that all of the members of RedLetterMedia, under their former name of 'GMP Pictures', were friendly with Garrett Gilchrist (banned member ocpmovie on these forums) and they worked together under both GMP and Garrett's own 'Orange Cow Productions'. There are some videos on youtube of all of them together and looking very young. That kind of thing might mean it would be out of the question on both sides. Adywan has always been open about how Ocpmovie is a massive douchebag. :p

That was my first ever edit submitted to this site, quite a few years ago.....Ian says 'Luke' on the 'A Musical Journey' DVD.....but sadly my edit has been removed from youtube
I still have it, I'll upload it to vimeo later

Didn't you also make that mockup of the enlarged AT-AT foot too? I can't seem to find it so I assume YouTube deleted that too.
I don't suppose you've backed up the Jedi93 'Recloned Edition' Frink? No idea when it was deleted but it was hilarious.

Why should I be punished financially for distributing something
Just don't distribute it then. No one is forcing you to. Clearly you have no real passion for this project if your instinct is to only distribute it if you can make a quick buck.
Plenty of people have distributed discs through PIF chains without asking for anything. Plenty have helped with the workload for free, and others have outright given their money to the project to get this thing finished.
More than anything, Ady himself is doing this just for the love of it and it's costing him more than it is anyone else. Perhaps the question you should be asking is, why should Ady, or any of the people helping, be out of pocket? I'm going to give you a hint, seeing as your limited intellect seems to restrict you from grasping this - it's not for people like you to profit from it.
The Terminator said:
I may just have to go against your word on distribution of these. There are many people who I know that would like this edit, but do not have Blu-ray burners, blank Blu-ray cases & discs, and do not know/are not interested in purchasing them and downloading and burning these edits themselves.
Then Hasta la vista, baby. You've been referred to the rules and outright told in posts, yet you still think it's ok to not only still do it, but openly announce that you're still doing it. If it wasn't for your clear stupidity in previous posts, I'd think you were a troll.
The Terminator said:
What are the penalties if caught distributing these for the cost of producing them on physical media, shipping, plus a few additional dollars for labor? I see people selling fan edits on amazon and ebay all the time. I have emailed some of them and some responded claiming it is legitimate if you just sell them for the cost of the physical media, shipping, and a few additional dollars for labor of making them. I found out that it may still be illegal and I emailed them back telling them that, and only one responded saying "they will take it under advisement."
It's piracy, so you figure it out. We're already operating in a grey area by distributing it for free. Add money into the equation and it's definitely illegal. Maybe you aren't cut out for this line of work. You seem to have missed the subtleties of how to properly act like a Star Wars bootleg baron. If only those sellers you quoted weren't so savvy -something you appear to have missed as you appear to be taking all their bullshit excuses at face value.
I wish there were more criminals like you. They'd practically arrest themselves.
Some of your ideas are strikingly similar to some from my edit (however not all of them executed). If youtube hadn't blocked all my videos on copyright grounds I'd post them up here to see if they got the creative juices flowing.......May have to dig out my FCP timeline and upload some parts to Vimeo I think...

ROTJ:R Question: Has Ady considered putting Jabba's palace on a different planet?
The following post gave me this idea: http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/something-I-always-wondered-about-the-PT/post/686800/#TopicPost686800
You took the words out of my hands.
Although there is the problem of Lando's line at the end of ESB about the rendevouz point on....Tatooine.
The name alone wouldn't matter as the name "Tatooine" is never said in ANH (as far as I know). The only reason anyone would know the name of the planet, pre ROTJ at least, would've been reading it somewhere (like how everyone knows the word ewok despite it never being said by anyone).
Making "Tatooine" an entirely new planet is a great idea. I hate how the canonical Tatooine became so overemphasised come the prequels as some sort of central location for everything of galactic and spiritual importance to occur on. Just like how Anakin was overemphasised as the chosen one - and why did he have to be from Tatooine too? As someone said, George wanted to reuse existing ideas and familar stuff, so as a result he shrunk the universe. Part of the charm of ANH was that this backwater dust planet was so insignificant in current events that we never even learnt its name. Maybe it didn't even HAVE a name.
In terms of executing this idea, the only clear acknowledgement that the desert planet in ROTJ is the same desert planet as in ANH is Luke saying to Han he used to live there, and Han replying that he's going to die there. This could be edited out somehow.
Something like the Invisible Hand would be cool as a recurring command ship as you say. I certainly prefer them to the donut ships which could be increased in scale and become the space factory/cloning facility/base I proposed
The thinking behind the donut ship was "make a bad guy ship but make them different from Star Destroyers". They've certainly achieved that! But in doing so have ended up looking more like immobile space stations than ships -which is perfect for my concept, however their intention was to have them be actual ships - the model has engines on the back and everything.
Thanks for bringing this one up ben_danger. I've been mulling this one over for quite a while myself.
I think the big Droid Control ship from Episode 1 is probably the most suitable to be a "bad guys' base" ship, and it's the most realistic part of the whole prequels as it was actually an enormous miniature they built.
Add to that the fact we already have some footage of it being blown up which can be utilised for Episode 3 when they're finally defeated.
If a radical editor wanted to completely redo the concept, or have a completely different stationary base, the Space Station in the game Knights Of The Old Republic would be a good reference, plus possibly provide some good ideas:
As well as the aesthetic of it drawing its power direct from a star (pretty cool) this space station was called the 'Star Forge' and was essentially a giant space factory. It is how the Sith in the game were able to churn out seemingly impossible numbers of ships and droids. This is a concept that could easily be adapted for our Prequels with the Droids army and droid ships.
More radical still, if someone wanted Clones on the opposing side (me me me me!), it could replace Kamino and explain the overwhelming amount of troops the opposition has. The almost decimated Republic must then, just for survival, mount a last ditch assault on this newly discovered threat, and we then have the moral issue of our supposed good guys extinguishing millions of lives in the process, thus making an obvious parallel with Alderaan. We could have all the Jedi back on Coruscant feel the disturbance in the force just like Obi Wan did in ANH. The act would speak for itself. The Republic is becoming evil.
The last thing I would want though is for someone to interpret this act of evil as a Pro-Life/Anti-Abortion message. Destroying a space station full of largely embryonic humans, and then becoming the Evil Empire? LOL. It seems almost too perfect doesn't it? Honestly though, it's just an accident that the idea has those parallels. I don't have an agenda, certainly not that one as I'd be considered 'Pro Choice'.
I'd rather the green be the surprise colour....for luke. Let some other rogueish Jedi have orange, purple or yellow possibly. The only Jedi that fits the bill is Dooku, but only if it can be convincingly made clear he's actually good. No one has accomplished this completely yet although JasonN went to some lengths to making it so he's not obviously a Sith.
In a reimagined prequel, Obi could already be a full Knight so it's no issue. Yoda will have trained him before the events of the films :)
The Prequels as they already are has done more damage than that by introducing Qui Gon as Obi's master, contrary to what we were told in the OT - and then Lucas awkwardly tried fixing it by implying that Yoda is like a freaking Kindergarten teacher for all young Jedi......yes, that makes it all better, George.
I think Yoda in ESB was there to show Luke (and by extension the audience) that the force is something beyond the physical, and that you don't need to be physically big and strong to make a big difference. The audience isn't expecting this shrivelled up frail alien to have any real power at all, and then he raises the X-Wing out of the swamp, not with brawn, but with the power of his MIND.
Yoda represents the intellectual and the spiritual. To have him fighting at all undermines that IMO. He should be like a Jedi monk, rather than a Jedi Knight.
It's worth noting again though, that I don't think Yoda should even be in the prequels. He should be known to the audience as "That mysterious Jedi Master that the most gifted Knights go off to be trained by occasionally" but we shouldn't actually meet him until ESB.
