STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

I have a feeling adding an alternate split screen version might push the size up too far, as it would necessitate more than one version of the film on the disk (whether it's a small 'picture within picture' version, or a full split screen version). I suppose one thing Ady could potentially utilise if Blu-Ray authoring allows it is an 'interactive mode', where in key scenes that have had the most changes it would tell you to press a button on your remote to see a VFX breakdown. That'd be cool.

Until the site problems have been fixed i won't be replying to all the previous replies. I'm fed up with typing out a lengthy response only to press "post reply" and the damn site has gone down and i lose everything i've typed. Hopefully the issues will be fixed soon

I've been kicked off Yahoo numerous times after writing a lengthy email. If I intend to write a large email or post on any site now I just write it in word then just copy and paste it-that way if something goes wrong when I send or upload I can just re-paste it and try again.

I'm guessing you've just noticed the other forum issue - that if we copy and paste from word or similar, that happens! ;)

Yeah that site down issue has happened to me loads of times.. It is a frustrating issue.

Looking at the great new model pictures and without trying to assume anything what so ever but my hunch is that the CGI falcon in the Asteroid canyon shot's will be replaced with the model that is being built. And if that is the case hat's off on that one. But like I said I don't want to sound like I am putting words in anybodies mouth but that was the first thought that sprang to mind and Ady dropped the hint in the comments that "I am still working on ESB" so I kind of drew some conclusions from that statement that this could possibly be the case?

If people still donate before the runners up draw coiuld that still get the clip released? If so please announce that because I really wanted to see the next clip too what ever it was planned to be. and I may make a small donation to drop it down by one less.

No I don't think he's doing that. If I recall, the Falcon is for the new Echo Base set he's building to replace some dodgy mattes. I think the CG falcon in that asteroid sequence looks fine. Really seamless.

I noticed how often the site was down the other week when I had a bad chest infection and I was pretty much glued to my computer and phone 24/7. It goes down 2-3 times a day minimum. Very irritating when you get an email notifying you of a new post but you can't view it. Hope Jay can sort it soon :)

I am not disputing any decisions about music. But deleted score is totally different to adding prequel music. I can't see any downfalls if the right choices are made and since i heard the deleted score when i get some spare time i am going to start a thread about it and do some demo's because kershner although mostly right went a bit too far with the audio cuts to score. But he did a great job on the most part but theres "moments" that should not have been lost.

And some of those "moments" you might struggle to tell the difference

Again, that's not what Revisited is about. Any music not in the theatres in 1980 isn't going to appear, from what I've gathered about Ady's intentions. I wasn't comparing it to Prequel music, I was simply pointing out what some might see as a hole in my reasoning. Unless Ady has plans for an alternative audio track accessible from the menu via an 'expanded score' option, I think you're barking up the wrong edit.

For another edit, that would be interesting, but inserting music that wasn't present in the original release is not what Revisited is about. (Yes, I'm aware that ANH:R had the Prequel music briefly, bit I think Ady now considers this a misstep - which is reflected in his plans for the HD version).

Last day to be in with a chance of winning one of the models from ESB:R. The draw will be taking place on 2nd july. Don't forget, for every £5 you donate, that gets you an entry into the draw. So, if you donated say £10, that got you 2 entries, and so on. And for every £25 donated that gets you into the exclusive draw to win the snowspeeder model.

Best of luck :)

Oh, and if we get 5 more entries for the snowspeeder draw, i may well post a new clip ;)

Welcome Magnus! You share my opinions on the prequels exactly. It can be quite disheartening confronting the fact these films are just inherently flawed on a basic level and unfixable without major refilming. It can drive you a little crazy constantly coming up with ideas of what could have been, but these types of threads are in no way feeding our crazy delusions. No, not at all! *cackle*

Good to have you aboard! :D

I'm assuming that with something like Revisited or something as radical, the editor would be rotoing Obi out from the background anyway and inserting a new one, so I didn't mean the scene was unsuitable - only that it would have to be altered :)

I have no idea if such a manipulation of Qui Gon would even be possible anyway. You'd have to have Liam Neeson saying the words for at least some of it. You could probably get away with a lot via cutaways and by having him more like Obi's ghost on HOTH rather than his walking around clear as day ROTJ version. Maybe have him in a misty, foggy setting like Dagobah.

The other alternative is to make Qui Gon a disembodied voice instead. Obi spoke to Luke in this way before. The key is to have more of the film with Obi wan, and even if Obi himself isn't actually speaking any more than before, scenes with him consulting his dead mentor help to push Obi to the foreground - more like the main character he should be than supporting cast to Anakin.

I think removing the contrived explanation that force ghosts are a new thing is a must in any edit. I can only assume that Lucas felt he had to explain it because he didn't spell out why Qui Gon left a body behind rather than disappear in the way established in the OT. Just like the force in general it didn't need explaining, yet he tried explaining that as well via Midichlorians. Urgh.

Your idea lends itself really well to making it an established fact that Jedi can do this, and always have.

The force glow effect can hide a lot (much like Adywan's new Emperor Hologram), so it MIGHT even be possible to utilize a shot of Qui Gon, standing relatively still, and manipulate the mouth. Then you can cobble together some dialogue from TPM, The Clone Wars series (which luckily already has the echoey modulation), and Liam Neeson's other body of work.

For me, it would have to be a slightly more mystical setting than a landing pad though ;)

One potential issue is that this deleted scene was only included on the DVD, not the Blu-Ray so resolution might be an issue.

UPDATE OF THE PRIZE DRAW

Some time ago didn't you make a model AT-AT? Are you still going to need that for filming (possibly stomping through trees on Endor?) or was it already given as a prize?

He still has it as it was mentioned in a Facebook post about the Shield Generator castings. I'm not sure what his intentions are for it in ROTJ (if any), but it's not part of any draw.

Besides, I don't think one would need to be able to "disappear" to hide from such a ship as the Falcon. A cruiser can have equipment allowing it to detect any ship nearby, but a freighter wouldn't necessarily have that.

Not sure if that's true. In ANH we hear the Falcon's sensors go nuts just prior to us seeing a Tie come into view (before they unknowingly approach the Death Star)

All this discussion is moot anyway. I don't think there was ever a chance Ady would want to change it.

Personally, I've always thought of "cloaking" (at least within the Star Wars universe) to be just making your ship undetectable to the other ship's scanners rather than literally making it invisible.

In any case, it doesn't seem like something Ady would go for...I think it's been discussed before as well.

Side note: I'd enjoy possibly seeing "disintegrations" being used in the PT:R, or at least maybe the reference in a cool voice: "I will disintegrate you" (if there is a Fett still seen).

I would love to actually see Fett disintegrating someone in the PT so that Vader's line in ESB:R has some significance. I previously played around with the footage of him shooting that dart at Zam Wessel, but her death doesn't last long enough to showcase any sort of effect.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHHmM1nkjMA

I know it's awful, but it's literally my first and only foray into After Effects. The disintegrate effect shouldn't be so quick (I was constrained by the length of the shot and the lack of subsequent shots) and it would ideally be done in a way where the disintegration spreads outwards from the impact point - not move across in a straight line like mine did.

If Ady could choose a new character for Fett to kill (or film one) it could be done. Zam Wessel was a complete non-entity and served no purpose anyway.

We should probably take any further discussion to the Unofficial Revisited Saga thread, but the fact that the line in question is from ESB makes my post on-topic, I swear! ;)

Oh please just give it a rest, Ronster. Boba can't kill Han. End of story. It's clearly stated he's worth a lot to him alive (and presumably less or nothing dead). He says "he's NO GOOD to me dead" so that indicates he doesn't get anything at all if he dies.

It doesn't undermine Han's "dead man" line at the start either. A gangster like Jabba might want him delivered alive so he can have the pleasure of watching him tortured/killed himself.

Please just drop it. There's so much of this sort of inconsequential crap cluttering up the thread. We're all guilty of it at some point, granted, but this is just too much.

I'm the one who stated he's not making it just for you. I don't need to quote you because it wasn't you that said it. You're quite right.

I felt the need to state that fact because of your attitude in response to Muddyknees2000. "Stop it right there" and then going on to whine about the release date being pushed back.

It was a reminder that Ady is making it for himself, therefore he can take as long as he needs to. I hope this clarifies things for you.

The last Facebook "progress" update was in March.

This is Ady's hobby....something he does for fun.....not something he owes to anyone.

Stop it right there! Ady said this was releasing way back in 2010 and now it's 4 years later and sequentially every year we've been told it's coming out the following year. And it may be coming out in 2015. So there is no reason that we can't ask for an update after 2 weeks of no updates when the list of things left to fix are monumentally minuscule.

Wow. Your attitude stinks. What's this sense of entitlement you seem to have?

Miniscule? Really? Just off the top of my head he still has 2 miniature sets, Han in Carbonite and the new Wampa to build. Then there's filming and compositing these things and any After Effects tweaks and colour correction to integrate them into the film.

Then he has to rebuild the sound mix from scratch.

He's not making this just for you.

Yes. My interpretation was always that the scanners only extended beyond the surface of the ship, therefore by attaching itself like a limpet to the Star Destroyer's surface, it went unnoticed.

It's pretty damn obvious that it doesn't actually have a cloaking device. If it did, why would it need to attach itself like that at all?
