To be honest here, it's one thing when people come into the forum and make suggestions for the edit that are so far from being logical from a technical standpoint that it is just preposterous. At least it is still on topic.
It's something else when people start trying to one-up each other, and then either start being rude as hell, or they start to talk down to each other in an obnoxious, condescending manner. There are quite a few people who are regulars on these forums that do this, and I doubt most of them would ever care to admit it.
I hate to say it, but it happens a bit too often, and I wish it was regulated better. I do enjoy visiting the many threads, especially this one, but there are days when people really go out of their way to show their ugly side. I realize this is not new, being the internet and all, but it's still a shame, regardless.
I hope all this nonsense will just stop, and people can be a bit more mature about how they handle these conversations. If you've read all this, thank you for your time.
I share your frustrations, and I apologise for my part in derailing this thread.

Actually nothing to do with getting out of bed on the wrong side, Jaitea, and it certainly isn't abuse. You came in and accused him of using ROTJ insight to justify things as he watches ESB, when he did nothing of the sort. In fact, it's only the "eww incest" crowd that do that, as they're watching the ESB kiss with ROTJ knowledge in mind......and taking the "always known" line rather too literally, I might add.
Muddy was justifying the ROTJ line with ROTJ logic. Nowhere is it even implied he is justifying ESB scenes using ROTJ. We can of course refer back to prior events whilst discussing that scene from ROTJ. You pretty much have to when the discussion is revolving around other people making out Leia is an incestuous freak solely due to that "always known" line. Your reasoning just makes no sense, Jaitea.
When the kissing scene has been brought up by both of us, it's only been because we've had to point it out to other people making it an issue based on future knowledge! Exactly what you're accusing muddy of doing, in fact. All he and I have done is just say "no guys, Leia ain't freaky in ESB. She didn't literally KNOW", and as an aside, "there was never any passion in that kiss anyway. It was always kind of awkward, not at all like the one she has with Han later on. The kiss with Luke was clearly to annoy Han all along. This was obvious even back in 1980."
You get the idea.
I was done with this convo, and was just going to leave you blissfully unaware that you'd misunderstood...pretty much everything in this exchange. But then you had the nerve to try and turn it around with the sophistication of an 8 year old child saying "whatever".
Don't worry. The contradiction will be forgotten about when pee-pee guns are brought into it in 3....2....1....
I'm finding it a bit of a challenge to articulate how flawed these assertions of yours are, despite the vehemence with which you put them forward.
If she genuinely suspected beforehand that they were literal brother and sister, then there wouldn't be a "somehow" involved, would there?
Therefore the meaning I took from it was that she sensed a brotherly connection, without explicitly thinking he was her actual brother, because of course she didn't HAVE a brother, did she? (As far as she knew). Whether she'd had this fleeting feeling of a brother/sisterly love (via the force, female intuition, whatever) she would have soon shrugged it off as ridiculous or impossible. It doesn't mean that the phrase "somehow I've always known" wouldn't have then had validity when she was finally confronted with the improbable truth.
I won't bog down this thread any further. Ady has already said what he's doing with it, and I support it, but not for the same reasons as you.
Again, I did make it clear the key word was "somehow".
There's a key difference between explicitly always knowing (which of course would make her a bit messed up to still follow through with 2 kisses in Empire) and "somehow" always knowing, which suggests to me that it's being considered more in hindsight. That she'd always sensed some kind of connection between them that wasn't romantic, but could never put her finger on what it was. This ties into her being force sensitive so it's all hunky dory to me.
Whether they should have even been siblings in the first place is another matter entirely though...
The unseen passage of time happens a lot in ESB. e.g. In Echo base, we go straight from seeing Threepio in the control room to seeing him in the hangar.
This does not indicate that Threepio has teleportation abilities. It indicates we've jumped forward a bit. There's nothing unusual about this and it happens a lot in film in general.
Likewise, there is no problem at all with the size of the asteroid in that first shot. Seeing it close up in the next is the indicator to say we've just skipped forward.
The only thing I might suggest for the asteroid (as mentioned a while ago in this thread) is to slow it down or stabilise it entirely to give it a bit more mass.
What the hell has happened to these boards?.............
I could let it lie, but I'm not going to. Bingo. Can't you understand those examples are no different and you just made my point for me? None of those examples had Ady promising PROGRESS UPDATES in exchange for donations. I really don't get what you're trying to accomplish here.
Only the example you gave......which wasn't an example at all. That was my point.
Not splitting hairs at all. You presented a superficially similar yet entirely irrelevant counter to what I said, and I shot it down. And why shouldn't I have?
I think it paints Ady as mercenary when that's not the case at all, nor have I seen any examples of that despite your assertion that you could dig some up.
As for suggestions, I have none because nothing needs to be done. The project is progressing and I'm looking forward to the final edit.

Despite the paradox contained therein in the past Ady has done exactly that and it's within his right to do so.
Equating Ady offering a bonus clip as an incentive (exactly what I said myself above, by the way) to 'holding updates to ransom' is pretty silly.
For that example to support your argument, it would have to have been the only update about his progress. It wasn't. It was exactly what he said it was - a clip. He wasn't there saying "I'm not going to tell you what I'm up to until you give me money". He was still giving updates independent of that clip.

It would also help disperse the impression that we are all waiting on one man if the other team members were to be a bit more vocal in regards to what they do and here not just on facebook because here is where it began and not everyone uses facebook.
I think that might be down to Ady wanting to keep certain aspects of the project a surprise. I certainly appreciate that he does that. As for things being on Facebook and not on here, for the most part I think updates have been repeated here, though not so much recently. But I do appreciate that it's a LOT easier posting an update to Facebook rather than the image hotlinking involved in doing the same on a forum. I've never understood people's aversion to Facebook either. You don't even need to be a member of Facebook to view the Revisited Facebook page, or its updates. Unless someone's boycotting Facebook as some kind of futile anti-capitalist gesture, I don't see the problem.

I also think that rather than having progress reports subject to fund raising drives and sheer body of moaning harms the project. It creates a false sense of simony. It would make more sense to do a monthly round up of what has been done with the occasional clip (but not too many) or picture (probably better and less draining on the final enjoyment of the piece) thrown in for good behavior.
Except the updates are nothing to do with fund raising drives or moaning. Occasionally, Ady has promised a new clip as an incentive for reaching a donation goal, however he's not been holding regular updates to ransom for donations. There have been updates whenever he's had something to update us on. A monthly round-up is pointless if progress is sporadic and Ady doesn't have anything tangible to show. And that's yet another deadline I sincerely hope he doesn't commit to again.

I also think an official ROTJ:R thread would help sooth any anxieties and transition the move from the nearly completed current project and the already started next one (the Dagobah trees will be used in both projects as would the lens that Ady is asking funding for).
A lot of the complaining on the Facebook page has been comments like "Why are you bothering to tell us your plans for ROTJ:R when you haven't even finished Empire?" I fully support Ady's decision to start the ROTJ:R thread when HE'S ready. I think it will be quite a cathartic moment for him when he finally draws a line under EP V and begins the page for ROTJ:R.

I think it's understandable that someone who has perhaps donated some money or effort to promoting and assisting the project to voice a concern or two when it comes to time etc.
I disagree strongly. Donations, cash or otherwise, are and should be no strings attached. If you can't wait, don't donate.
Exactly my thoughts. I do understand why people might be frustrated, but that's understandable regardless of donations. Having given money to the project should not factor into it as that suggest Ady is somehow contractually obligated. I disagree strongly with Bingowings' assertion that it's a 'product'. That kind of implies that the donations are payment and entitles you to delivery within a 'reasonable' time.
Yes, Ady has set deadlines that haven't been met, through a combination of personal circumstances and technical disasters, but that shouldn't mean people have the right to get arsey just because they've donated.
I sincerely hope that for all the subsequent edits, Ady does not commit to ANY deadline.
I've donated to this project. A lot more than I can technically afford in fact. I'm just enjoying the anticipation and updates. As muddyknees said in another post. It's about the journey.
And as he's just pointed out above, there are other people devoting their time, resources and skillsets to this project. They're donators too. If they had this attitude, the Revisited 'Team' would have disbanded a long time ago.
^ Couldn't have said it better myself. And I'd wager that there are more that have stepped up to help than people realise.
No one is disputing your enthusiasm or support for the project. I think it's you that's misunderstood us, 3fW. It's not that you're being that guy saying "is it out yet?". It's that you're being that guy saying "I have serious doubts that this project you guys love so much will ever get finished". Doom and gloom is not conducive to making this a rewarding experience for Ady, or those involved in the project. So as I said before, it was better left unsaid. I just don't think the negativity was appropriate to vocalise or justify.
You do acknowledge that there have been real life problems to delay this installment though, so it stands to reason that with more support (which is inevitable considering the buzz this is going to generate once it hits the internet) and hopefully the lack of these obstacles, production should become a lot smoother from now on.
Also, don't mention it muddyknees2000 ;)
I can imagine just that sort of workflow being possible once Empire is released and the project becomes more well known. As it grows in exposure, it's only natural that more talented people will offer their help to the project. I mean it wasn't that long ago a certain member came on board and sorted out that sweet new Vader shot for the hologram :)
We all want this to come out, but being a negative nancy about it is helping no-one. Least of all Ady. Can you imagine how tired of this HE must be?
I understand your sentiments, but sometimes things are better left unsaid.
Whilst I do prefer the new version, I would still really appreciate it if he included the option of both via a branching disk. Everyone's happy then as this seems to have been the most divisive change.
Same. The new version makes far more sense with regard to the flow of the conversation in my opinion. I understand that the intent in the final theatrical version may have been to add more of a sense of urgency, but in my opinion this was an important moment and the dialogue was chopped together in a way that was a bit jarring. Seeing the 'Lost Cut' version of the scene was a revelation for me.
Exactly....I don't think it matters what his name is in a novelisation. This is an edit of the movie.
Same goes for Adywan disregarding EU.

Would you ignore the fact that The Emperor has been called Palpatine since 1976 or would Sidious and Palpatine be 2 Dark Side users with no connection to each other?
He's never referred to as Palpatine on screen until the Prequels as far as I'm aware...

FINALLY!!! I was wondering if anyone was going to get the deliberate 3 eyed reference.
So are you saying that Dagobah is a post-Nuclear ravaged earth? :D
Yes, yes. I know it's 'A long time ago' etc, but Battlestar got away with time being cyclical/events repeating themselves, etc :)
;)
