i would love to see a 700mb avi version as a trial run, incase there is anything that would be worth changing? but i will be certainly downloading a DVD edition if/when it becomes available.

i like the coda idea, like a closing crawl. i suggested somewhere else, that the film could end at the funeral pyre, with the pan upwards to to stars, being a reverse from the pan down after the crawl at the start.

maybe if tpm has a special pre-crawl prologue, or just something a bit different, a reverse of this could be played on in ROTJ.

oooh nooo, i wasnt suggesting taking that out at all, i just know that jasonN is. lukes final fling in his fight with in ROTJ is tied to leia, he may require alternative motive if that subtext is removed.

i could imagine a little bit similar to when the emperor orders the use of the superlaser,

luke could then get annoyed (maybe that could inspire his charge, maybe good for JasonN if he eliminates the leia sibling subplot)

a small problem though is that it would require alot or reorganising, as all the fighters wouldnt immediately be able to enter the death star shaft.

ady, this has probably crossed your mind, but would your sets be re-usable for your various PT edits in some capacity after some tweaking/repainting? i understand you can't store them, so i guess you would have to make whatever footage you need with them when theyre built.

my friend who is a stop-motion animator often plans projects a few months in advance so he can pre-recycle sets when theyre built. (he also has a space management problem)  he is currently doing three different films with the same model hospital ward! (i don't know why im telling you this.:P)

i love theodos dialogue, it brings some decent character to the federation goons, and calling to 'legends' of the jedi, makes them sound that extra bit more unknown that we need for suggestions that they are in the OT.

i would love it if the whole 'sith' concept could be written out. sith are one of my favourite things in star wars, but as they ernt invented until after the OT, it would be good perhaps to just have it that palpatine is a force user who indulges in the dark side, and anakin falls to the dark side. the 'sith' in this context may over complicate things perhaps? unless the term 'sith' could somehow be slipped into the OT.

the big jedi battle from AOTC would be really cool in TPM, for a climax in the centre of theed. it could perhaps eliminate the need for the gungan battle, and maybe the gungans altogether. perhaps as the republic refuse assistance, the jedi take it upon themselves to do so?

i love the b-wings, its a crime the only feature in ROTJ really. maybe ady could sneak them in to PT:R?

it could be cool to see the bombers doing bombing runs over the star destroyers, blowing big chunks of hull out.

the thinking for the accident death was a bit like the 'death' of all the characters in lost in space (terrible film) when they attempt an escape but just launch headlong into an asteroid. its kind of cool because it just reminds me of those accidents we have when you kind of see it coimng, like falling over or dropping something. it would just be cool to be in Lando's seat, then you just see something in the corner of our eye.

though the heroism is kind of what star wars is all about. i guess it really depends on what tone the scene needs, and what point you want him to die, there is a little bit of time between the two. do we want to salute him or mourn him?

what if there are some sneaky ties in the reactor chamber, or some new form of defender ship. one could shoot the extra tie fighter that goes in (doesnt have to be wedge) and badly damages the MF, they cant seem to shake them, so Lando just rams onr f them straight into the core as a final act?

that is true, the death should probably have some purpose. it would be too late in the SAGA to have it as an emotional device to affect the other characters. i just liked the idea of a abrupt unromantic crushing death.

has anyone seen serenity? i still dont quite gt why they had to kill wash off. id rather have had them kill the whole crew than wash.

maybe when the death star core is shot out, and there is a bit of a delay for the explosion, akbar summon the fleet to move away, and we could see the hologram begin to flash perhaps?

the more i think about lando dying, the more id prefer him to get caught in an accident on the way out. as the DSII may explode over the period of a minute, it would be cool to see it breaking apart/imploding whilst this is going on perhaps? then the other idea of the MF being smashed by a huge piece of debris, and us suddenly seeing it from the perspective of the MF cockpit could work too. just imagine how sudden and shocking it would be. (see diagram below)

ooh, i love that vaderios very much! it masks the reused set. it would be good if home I got prety knocked up, so we could see flames and sparks behind ackbar, so it looks like he was a bit more involved in the battle.

this is probably a bit of a silly idea, but what if the rebels somehow gained control of all those legions of deactivated droid battleships from the PT? okay they would be pretty weak considering the progression of technology, and we would assume someone would have scrapped them, but it could provide a link to the PT again perhaps? i like the idea of the separatists turning out to be the good guys in the end.

i found his reviews funny, a bt silly, but quite funny. i think he'd make a much better comedian than a critic.

the key problem with the prequels for me, that ironically was the only thing he didnt pick up on, was that it missed star wars' simple plotlines, that focus more on characters and ground level people than the 'big events' that seem to, in themselves be quite simple ideas. the PT was pretty much the reverse of this.

i must admit, the new clone wars series on the other hand, is much more star wars for me i find. anakin is more of the anakin i would have like to have seen in the movies, the clone troopers provide that ground level character to have a face, and the cartoonish simple plots are great.

all i can think of now, is ady retrofitting his flat to look lke the falcon, then breaking it to his family and neighbours that he needs to start a domestic fire for the purposes of a fan edit.

though you are correct bingo, im sure a model would work great. if we saw the falcon blow up, id like to see it in that traditional star wars burny death manner, of flames launching from behind the pilot, then we see the crumpled burning falcon crash somewhere.

personally id like to se the falcon just miss its exit. maybe a falling chunk of metal could just slam into it? they could be racing to the exit, adrenaline pumping for the audience as the falcon slowly gets surrounded by flames, then just as the near the exit, the tunnel ceiling collapses, and maybe the last thing we see is a giant piece of pipe from the perspective of the cockpit.

its probably not possible, but maybe within the endor celebration, someone could whisper into hans ear, then leia could ask "wheres lando", then han shakes his head or something.

a whole new sequence with them maybe rigging up the falcon as a bomb (deep impact) would be cool if we had an interior set. maybe if ady decides to redecorate his flat he could go for a more corellian theme?

loved the clip, i like how sudden the explosion is. i was wondering, if you chose to do a verison 2, inserting ackbars 'shocked' look that he has when the death star explodes, maybe so there is an on screen reaction to 'that blew up a bit quicker than i imagined'.

have you ever seen that fan film 'revelations'? the CG was great, but the acting and plot let it down a bit, but still amazing for a fan film. there is also a spagetti fan film that is really cool, but its name escapes me.:S

any thoughts on holographic people dotted around?

all these ideas sound perfect. i especially look forward to the colour correction and blue sabers.

you could just have ani go straight to the homestead, assuming he sensed shmi through the force to that location, only to be surprised she married, and then that she is a corpse.

i would like to see the suggestion someone made of having the senate lights going out, so there is a visual sign of the republic crumbling, and maybe the first senate scene reintroduced to aid this.

id love to see troops from both sides loading guns, as it would add a more dramatic element seeing them getting obliterated on both sides. i could imagine that being quite difficult though.

obi wan in the garage would have had been a nice similarity to luke finding leia's hologram.

AOTC edits are definitly the most interesting out of the PT, because it was where the overall PT plot was let down the most. i always feel that the PT movies seemed to be a bit offset. ideally TPM would introduce the idea of seperatists towards the end, so AOTC would only have to address the clones mystery and could have anakin start to doubt the jedi towards the end. ROTS could then start much closer to anakins fall from the jedi, and the other plot elements could culminate in a more complete ending.

the clone wars series adds to ROTS, and makes bits like the clone wars (obviously) grevious, obi wan and anakin's relationship etc, a bit more fleshed out, but really we shouldnt have to rely on a tv series to do this.

right, just watched ep II - Twilight of the Republic

a really good and original edit, it definitly combines the better elements of fan edits done so far, and with some original ideas added too. so far i would say this is my favourite edit available from the ones i have seen, though there are some improvements i would like to see before it moves to DVD.

what worked for me

• padme's reveal postponed (no immediate introduction) on the landing pad
• cut dialogue from anakin
• anakin's 'youve grown too' line turned into quiet a nice joke (anakin has now learned wit)
• shmi being dead already, and anakins 'i mss you . '
• cut yoda fight
• no more dex
• less crap exposition
• no R2 and 3PO in geonosis.

what didnt work for me

• my key critisism for this was the cutting of the scenes around the middle of the film, especially when we are following obiwans investigations and anakin on naboo. if the scenes of the separate characters could be combined to form longer 'chunks' i think it would allow the viewers attention not to be thrown around as much. i understand though that the cutting of bad elements of the film caused this, but maybe just less mental traveling would help. all in all i found it hard to engage with the film because of this.
  

• introducing kamino, i do think some form of introduction would help, even if it is the jedi analyser droids telling obi wan that it is a kamino dart or whatever, they dont necessarily have to talk about the planet itself. i just felt there was something missing.
• force lightening from dooku. unavoidable really, but would it be possible for him to force throw anakin? as he is more of a gray jedi though this isnt really an issue
• music cuts. you did a great job of blending the music between cuts, but it still did seem to move prety weirdly. its hard to describe, but i think it could be down to AOTC having HORRIBLE music in comparison to the other movies. this was felt more during the droid factory scene and the arena battle.

what i found interesesting, but am unsure whether would work or not

• i really liked the blue text, but would prefer the who SAGA to be a bit more standard, or for each film to have a dfferent colour. its not a major issue, and its cool that you went with it. it could be cool if you make your ROTJ edit have blue too so maybe it is a JasonN trademark. it also would go with your dark city/matrix edit (which i cant wait to see btw, love dark city!)
• im not sure how much colour correction you did, or if this was in the original, but anakins sabre was a lighter blue when he kills the worms in padmes room, a very similar colour to the blue in ANH. it made it look quite retro. retro is good.:)

what i would like to see added (or removed)

• someone suggested removing the lights from a number of senate seats, that would add to the twilight element, so as the various scenes from the senate progress, more dark patches are visible. would you consider reinserting padmes senate scene?
• maybe if anakins mother wasn't dead, you could do a scene similar to SSWR?
• not having 3PO in the film
• alternative music (though that would be a mammoth undertaking)
• maybe doing some of the small tweaks featured in SOTDS? (though now im just nitpicking)

overall the most enjoyable AOTC experience so far!
