i must admit some of the ideas mentioned do seem to detract from the usual star wars formula, i would love to have a stab at a reborn style project like that though. star wars but not star wars. hmmmmm
maybe the opening scene with anakin can be editted or even cut completely. what if the film was lead from padme? i always thought it would be interesting to see padme leading the PT over anakin, so the relationship with vader would switch from mother to son in the OT.

Adywan isn't gonna go to that kind of trouble for a necklace. Plus, Leia is the daughter of a great jedi. She may think she remembers her mother were in turn she actually has felt her mother. The jedi are hard to understand in that sense. But life finds a way in the star wars universe to continue. Another thing keeping padme alive would be damn near impossible. It would tear the saga apart. and thus be a great continuity error which i hear ady doesn't like continuity errors.
i didnt mean keeping padme alive for the OT, but just not killing her off in ROTS, surely leia saying she remembered her mother as a child, yet somehow dying a few minutes after she was born is a continuity error, as you said ady doesn't like continuity errors. why doesnt luke remember her if its felt through the force? that all sounds a bit like an excuse really.
the necklace i thought was just an interesting conversation topic. i should think that the ROTJ should reference some PT elements (depending on what ady does with the PT) as it should wrap things up a bit more.

AOTC outline should revolve around a certain tone, hopefully it should end on with a the same feeling we get in the early coruscant scenes in ROTS, ie moody and suspicious. i have been wondering about starting points for it, and what kind of pace and realism it should have too. alot of the subjects should be shifted around a bit perhaps
more pulpy, hard chissled men and their hysterical female companions....maybe not that sexist, but a bit more gunga din perhaps.
no mention of sith (they still exist, but this film should be darkside free)
romance should be less, well, unlikely. padme should perhaps be in love with anakin before he is with her, explaining why he is so wooden all the time. hopefully it will make the romance slowly grow throughout AOTC and ROTS, so it doesnt seem to be over as soon as it started.
alternative scoring and recolouring
added retro elements such as control panels, and as many people keep mentioning, less landing sequences!:P
more assassinations at the beginning culminating in the senate attack
new title, preferably something without 'of the' in the middle of it.
i love that scene with anakin on tatooine by SSWR using the alternative binary sunset score. perhaps 'silent scenes' to music like that could add more weight to them.
the film could loud and punchy until the execution scene, where the music stops for the first time, hopefully grabbing the viewers attention in a different manner, as if the only real moment in the film is that one.

theyre cool photos. would it be worth scouring documentaries such as 'planet earth' for actual footage of these places? i was looking for stock footage of frozen tundra a while ago for a hoth experiment, but interest fizzled out before i commited to it. if we complied some form of library or database it could be handy for future projects.
SSWR, mine isnt as advanced at the moment, one thing im trying to do though is trim as much of the CG, as it is so obvious in this scene. are you doing colour correction? i think we should start thinking of making an outline for an AOTC edit, though i like the idea of us simultaneously working on the same edit to see what the differences are! want to set a time to release them in unison so we dont steal ideas?;)
got alot of cursework on, but im intermittently working on the droid factory scene from AOTC. trying to give it a similar feel to the canyon in ANH, with some heavy editting. its a bit cut and past though.
how about you SSWR? i get the feeling AOTC edits are definitely flavor of the month!:)
kamino doesnt necessarily have to be a water planet though, it could just be raining when obiwan is there? maybe it could have an alternative environment?
if i was ever to make a full saga wide edit, i would make it 5 films, starting with a heavily editted AOTC, a heavily editted sith, then a tweaked OT. just thought id let people know.:P
i think the reborn project was the only ever way to make the secrets work well, alternatively watching the movies I, IV, II, V, III, VI also works well.

i have found the window that allows me to scroll through frame by frame, but what tool do you use to do the color correction? and is there a way to apply a modification to a bunch of frames as oppose to doing it frame by frame? (going to have a stab at some lightsaber recolouration and slave 1s engines!)
i know the first shot was a bit green, but i still like it a bit more. i think its because the dark shadows arnt as strong.

the tantive IV is far more interesting visally than the naboo craft in my eyes, so i would prefer to see it entering the clouds, but it may make more sense to be following the naboo craft and have the tantive IV there waiting.
something to add to the PT:R request list would be have the tantive IV changed to match the OT colours, but its not vital.

I thought I should let you all know that I've started a very rough edit of these few scenes. The question I have is: If the tantive does indeed have this medical station onboard WHY do they need to land on dagobah? Earlier in the film Obiwan meets up with Bail and Yoda somewhere in space...why not just do that again? One solution I've come up with is that the droid tells them something like: "We need to land somewhere nearby to make a safe delivery." I don't know...what do you guys think?
I never liked how Yoda gave up so quickly fighting Palpatine
move the "Into exile I must go!" line to later on and this might help as a transition from them being in space to being on Dagobah

It's funny because the other day I was playing with the Yoda escape scene and I cut the Yoda line completely. This, again, is another lets-spell-it-out-for-the-audience piece of dialouge. We *know* he failed. And why tell us he must go into exile when it would be much more interesting for us as the audience to wonder where he is up until ESB.
So are you suggesting that when Obiwan meets up with Yoda and Bail the *first* time in ROTS that it *not* be somewhere in space but actually be on dagobah? Because THAT could work...
So it could be like:
Obi: my clones turned on me...
Bail: we're sending you our coordinates...
-wipe to dagobah with Obiwan landing and continue with scene on board the tantive
-continue movie as is until we leave mustafar
-no asteroid planet thingy. instead yoda and bail are back at dagobah hiding and waiting for obiwan
Bail: we'll take her to the medical station...
-medical station is now on board the tantive...which is on dagobah

that sounds much better, perhaps a throw away line could be made from yoda, though im not sure if it is necessary, just like 'this place is hidden from the force' or something as such to explain why they are there. the claustrophobic atmosphere of the planet should be enough to show that they are hiding. i can't stop thinking about mattes of having headlights illuminating the scarily dark planet.
i definitely agree on having yoda not mention the exile buisness. having obi wan, bail (and padme, corpse or uncorpse) going their seperate ways, will hopefully force a 'loose end' that will get tied up in ESB. it makes yodas insane chatter seem so much more dark now, thinking he has just been losing it in lonliness for 20 years!
how hard would it be i wonder to remove padme from the table? it would be cool to have her give birth outside, though a logical reason would be hard to grasp. i really like the idea of 'it is too dangerous to deliver the babies in space' dialogue.
cant wait to see the next installment of SSWR. for the record i still cant stop thinking of the bugs life clip, my girlfriend keeps on chanting it whenever it appears in the films!:P
