Info & Ideas: ESB and ROTJ Wishlist

Couldn't "Anakins Betrayal" song go somewhere in ESB or ROTJ?  Like at the end of the Hoth battle or somewhere else.

maybe when luke is being electrocuted if there is a similar montage of the endor battle like the one in ROTS with the jedi massacre. though to be honest im not really for PT music in the OT, aside for when used with the emperor (palpatines teachings) once or twice.

if you bring the OT forward 10 years technologically, (better graphically, more dynamic puppets and aliens), and take the PT back 10 years, (degrade graphics, change tone and pacing, edit colouring and add more vintage music to subsitute the modern choral stuff) maybe they will meet in the middle?

okay, im going to start posting this stuff here as i think adywan may want to keep the ESBR thread clean, and this one is experimental enough.

thanks to davnes for uploading the holday special cartoon. i had a fiddle around in final cut to begin with, and was pleasantly surprised how much the quality was improved by just adjusting the sharpness and brightness/contrast. this wasnt possible with the youtube versions.

comparisons: (editted on left, original on right)

....forgive the stupidly big image..... i have shrunk it down for the forum, but click to see better detail.

Do you mean the KCCI version? I have that one and remember it being heralded as the best quality version around.

i had that one, i think it got deleted a while ago. would someone be able to rip the holiday special from it? (pretty please!:D)

(the only problem with it is you dont get the amazing retro adverts, which you do get on google video. theres an amazing TOBOR toy advert where the tag line is 'TOBOR is ROBOT spelt backwards'.:P)

What do people think..? Don't mind if you don't like, but I'm doing them for myself so thought I'd share.

best so far. looking forward to seeing the rest of them (please to retro prequels! concept art could be a good place for imagery) its good to see the bold red as oppose to blues. are you going to have a different colour per film?

Here is a suggestion for an extra on the DL DVD or whatnot:

would it be possible to include a remastered version of the Boba Fett cartoon from the Holiday Special (as in JUST the cartoon)?

Here is a link:

yes yes yes! i was working on one myself, hoping that a few filters and recolouring could improve clarity. only problem i had was the only source i could get was no better than a youtube copy.

where did you get this screenshot from?

it would be neat to re-edit it slightly so the planet is ord mandell (so hans comment in ESB could reference it), and to add a crawl.

one option could be a fan remake, where we can retrace the cartoon. with enough hands it would be surpirisngly easy and talentless. colouring and repainting backgrounds i can handle.

But these fan edits aren't really for casual fans.

Honestly, I can understand the argument of the old order insisting that everyone have blue, but would Luke care if everyone had green? I figure he just wanted to distance himself from his father, past and present.

my argument for the all blue sabres was more for the casual viewer. the audience i would aim for, ie girlfriend, friends and colleagues etc. i get analysing a comic or book, or even extra exposition on the back of an action figure box, but the films were designed for average joes to see once at the cinema, or even a dozen times on video.

my personal view is a fun adventure in space/tradtional monomyth, with a basic and effective visual message. not tolkien.

I actually disagree. TPM should be like Star Wars was originally: a movie that can stand alone, with just a sequel hook or two to link it to the next one. (Star Wars only really had one sequel hook, but it was in neon lights — DARTH VADER GOT AWAY!) The end should feel like "the end" of the TPM story, like ANH ends on the celebration scene.

definitely! i still stand by the idea of a TPM edit simply titled 'star wars'.;)

dark ressurection is great, it is the first ever spaghetti star wars film! revelations was very well done too, but felt like a star was convention on blue screen. there is a pilot episode of a fan series that was never followed that was very well done, and acted (to a degree), but i cant remember the name.

i think by the time ady gets through ROTJ, it would probably become a borderline fan-film.;)

thread icons
Time

oh no! lord jay! i must be eloquent.:S

i just thought it would be a nice small feature.

having icons on say, adys ANHR, and a different one for ESBR would be quite cool, as oppose to the same icon on both.

there are 4 threads on the SW fan edit board started by bingowings for instance, so we have 4 jabba the hutts there. maybe if there were specific icons for each thread a user could just jump straight to the thread he wants just from a quick glance. of course i can imagine multiple threads going for the same icons which would completely defy this.:P

there is no real argument for, just a whimsical desire for further customisation.

if its a feature that would be difficult to implement, the benefits probably wouldnt outway the effort! but it would be an extra way this forums members could flex their creative muscles!

just out of curiousity, when i first joined, there was an avatar library, what happened to that?

thread icons
Time

first time looking at this section of OT, just one idea i had.

since the forum changed a few weeks ago, we can now see the thread authors avatar next to each thread. would there be any chance to have a function that would allow the author to specify an icon to replace their avatar in its place.

it would be quite cool to build a small library of these icons.
