If the original star wars was a medley of other sources, then perhaps where the prequels lost their way was trying to make something 'original' or 'symbolic' as oppose to a formula that already had charm. So a B-Movie in space.

that was a total massacre! i didn't even get that far though. just threw ideas out about combining episodes. what is interesting though, is that the episodes are not in chronological order, and you can resort them later on into small groups. for instance there are two episodes set before the hideous cinema release.

i second that. i must admit though, because the old and new clone wars series are essentially a bunch of cartoons, there is much more flexibility for storytelling, and even the jarjar bits seem to have some ludicrous charm. which i prefer in this context.
perhaps if GL had concieved the animated series idea earlier he could have vented certain characters and topics there enstead of the films.

is it that necessary that the saga portrays the actual fall of the empire? i keep on suggesting this, but ideas for changing ROTJ should be couples with ideas for changing the PT. if in episode 1, we are presented with a sense of a deeper backplot before the film, it would be appropriate that ROTJ ends with a suggested, yet open-ended finale. like the great ending SSWR posted.
i like the idea of jedi being set years later.
i reckon the success of this film though rests in the radical changes made to the PT aswell. whoever comes up with the best idea will need to lay the foundations and plot strings back then.
if jabba was a more important player in the PT for instance, the han solo mission could have a two fold purpose (reanimating lots of droids for example).
perhaps the endor bunker could be the droid control hub?
it would be good if the new "threat" could also be in the prequels, either something pre-existing or some new "sleeping beast". the only thing i can think of is some droid army control hub, or an earlier planet destroyer device.

if you split padmes two identities in TPM, make one mon mothma, and somehow add the mon mothma character into AOTC and ROTS as an operative character.

don't kill padme off, don't have anakin fearing her death etc. she just disappears at the end of ROTS. in ROTJ luke discovers leias identity, then enstead of mon mothma, a rebel general can introduces 'the former senator padme amidala', then an older padme is revealed. leia may be fully aware she is alive. perhaps luke could look at her and smile, and maybe grandma padme could look at him knowingly. she could give the address, and again, new actors brings lots of alternative exposition!
like all radical ideas, perhaps not straight forward, but surely would tie the sagas together a bit. (aside from jabba the seperatist...:P)
radical idea for prequels- so don't shoot me up too much - if we seperate padme queen and padme senator into two characters - could we make one ginger so mon mothma in rotj appears to be the same character?
very radical idea for rotj - i was thinking it would be cool if mon mothma in rotj could be replaced by a padme-alive, but has been in hiding character perhaps, but that would require some scene of her being reunited with leia and luke and explaining vader to them (cool, but impossible). - and of course scenes alluding to her death being cut.
i'd love it to be the show down between mother and father aswell to some degree.
i have The Children of Hurin audiobook, which has 7 hours of Christopher Lee narration. Something in there must be helpful.
yes we can. he is mentioned, or spoken about at numerous points when he is not around, and events can be editted to suggest they are talking about him when he was there originally.
im not 100% sure if this would work, but it is interesting.

i liked the internal travel network that was in the Malevolence in clone wars. perhaps something like that could be worked into it.
could it end on the montage? perhaps at coruscant? as the heroes arn't the only core characters anymore, the yearbook shot doesn't seem as necessary.

perhaps just something small, like removing all the ewoks chattering could make them a bit more 'mysterious'. i'm not at all suggesting that they be portrayed as small white men or anything.
also, the dinosaurs etc. if endor was more primordial, the presence of bigger badder beasts would also make the ewoks seem tougher just by their very survival.

Well, without the direct rip from Avatar's approach to Hell's Gate(which was done by ILM btw), the idea of Endor providing resources makes sense. Deforestation, strip mining, etc, etc.
But instead of blue cat people we have Ewoks and Star Wars.
i hope i don't get defined as an avatar fan, as i can't stand the film. however much it may seem like a rip off as an idea, the way it is portrayed and combined with numerous alternative elements will play it down. it can just be a convenient "look how nasty the empire is" moment.

i was wondering today, if somehow the jango-obiwan buisness could change location, or be cut down in such a way that they fight on coruscant. this could allow yoda to find the clones around the same time obiwan finds the droid foundrys. seeing both the armies simultaneously could be cool. (and would better explain yoda showing up with the army)
