Alot of those ideas have been mentioned before, but its good to see them brought up again for discussion! Avoiding too much naboo is important.

I wonder how it would work if the jedi were on tatooine already to retrieve anakin. anakin sort of blackmails them into helping the naboo in exchange for him joining the jedi.

What if Qui-Gon dies on tatooine at the hands of maul, leaving obi-wan to avenge him later on.

Perhaps if it were an extensive edit, with extra filmed elements, the queen could actually be a princess, and there could be an old king added to naboo to be the face of the suffering people. Maybe he dies too in the end. An alternative ending could be the padme's coronation.

well, maybe he should have LESS dignity. he was supposed to be this big-bad in ROTS, a jedi-killer who would be a real threat to obi-wan later on. yet all that is said of him by the jedi is that he is a coward, and they just send ONE guy to fight him.

giving him a higher raspy voice, and really playing on how greasy he is could strengthen his character alot more. when he suddenly reveals that he can fight later on, it could be a bit of a 'bummer we underestimated him' moment. certain elements would need changing to achieve this, but its worth a thought.

i tried this voice change AGES ago - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znm5AllHbG0

Here's the clip.  I think as far as dirt removal it worked pretty good.  It's not perfect and the tape splices, horizontal lines, and vertical lines are still present.

Perhaps this script would speed up the process of bringing these scenes up to a presentable standard? They are gonna need a little more TLC than just this script but it certainly helps with dirt removal and sharpening. I've turned the sharpening way down to where it's just a bit sharper than the original scene.  It might be better with less or a bit more.  I'm not an expert at this by any means.

EDIT:

Here's another from ESB.

That is some smooth work.  I hope it works just as well in the hi-def.

After playing around with the script for awhile now I'd say it works just as good or even better in HD.  Of course some of the parameters have to be adjusted for higher resolution. The downside really is that it is pretty slow.

EDIT:

here's some more scenes.

Beru's blue milk.

Luke and Biggs.

Luke and 3-PO.

wow! these are fantastic! will you make them available as stand alone clips without the comparison?

Info & Ideas: ESB and ROTJ Wishlist

it depends how extensive new subplots are integrated into ROTJ.

i've always fancied the idea that it is lead from a new cast of characters, such as rebel command, or a second rebel group being integrated into the alliance. general nadine/mon mothma and admiral ackbar could be replaced for instance and provide the relevant exposition to tie the ideas in.

i suppose the best we can do is re-storyboard new ROTJ stuff and edit that into the original film.

maybe if the bonus commandos was explored, a larger subplot could be introduced to replace/reduce the ewoks? if there is a larger rebel force, some event could seperate them into two parties, leaving the smaller party to finish the mission. it could be a second shuttle crashing, or failing to arrive. but it is generally assumed that the larger half is gone. the rebels get captured, marched outside and all seems lost. the battle starts as before (perhaps without the ewoks, just 3p0 causing a distraction). but theyre cornered and death is almost certain. the predictable twist later on would be the lost rebels showing up. maybe even using the shuttle's firepower to allow han and his few remaining troops to re-storm the bunker.

I'm assuming the system would clarify this. it would be a bitch admittedly having to have various releases ripped of the same film, but that is why the gods gave us external hard drives.:p

this could make a good thread if people wanted to start hoarding it.

*just a side note, this wouldn't be too different to game mods which implement a module system (neverwinter knights is an example). to run certain modules, a creator would specify what additional content patches would need to be present (HAK files for those familiar).

^a bit off topic, but would that actually work?

i was going to propose a while back, but it wold be interesting to perhaps have a bank of such small 'edit' files on dropbox for Final Cut, Vegas and Premier.

If we developed an indexing system for the ripped dvds, music files and sfx etc (Everyone would have the same stuff, with the same name in the same place on their own machines) then surely it would be quite a good way to piece some projects together.

I do wonder, if somehow another character is implemented as Darth Vader, be it Darth Maul, Obi Wan's second apprentice, or my favourite - Mace Windu, would there not be a danger with the audience thinking

"hang on? *Darth Vader's proxy* is the father and not Anakin Skywalker?

Mace is conveniently Black, Maul is spiky, but whatever alternative is found, should probably have some obvious physical difference to Anakin.

STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW</strong>
Time

surely even if there are just a few seconds of the edit from the Blu-Ray, a copy of the edit, regardless of definition, sources etc getting to someone without the original blu-ray source would class as piracy.

i personally will be buying the bluray, and then proceed to keep it at the bottom of my sock draw.

now PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be aware that THIS website, and FE.org are always SO close to some government copyright group shutting it down for such suggestions. THAT is why the said policy is in place, to protect what little space we have here.

Return of the Jedi: Dan Edit - Clips Online (Released)
Time

hey daneditor, just watched your sandstorm clip. i was trying something similar a while back with the intercom dialogue, but wasn't as successful as you. i agree with bingo about the music. the scene could use some perhaps, but the preceeding scene needs a change in tone.

is there any chance you could upload a musicless version so i could have a play with it?

hey ronster. just finished watching your clips.

you have done really well considering the materials provided are really awful quality, and although there are alot of choices that have been made which i don't think work perfectly, you have really pulled something together that refreshes ROTJ!

where did you get the footage for the tatooine fly through? i am assuming some sort of nature documentary? it works awesomely!
