With the hologram masking, Sio Bibble’s hologram (and Palpatine’s) flicker and get interrupted in TPM; I don’t remember if there’s an accompanying sound, but if there is, could it be lifted from there?

Ooh that hologram sound is great! I’ll try it with that. I’ll come up with a different way to mask the gaps then if normal static wouldn’t fit.
Does this layering for Palpatine’s voice work better? I was trying to just pitch his own voice down with a couple layers, trying to evoke the Episode III just-got-disfigured vibes, while still leaning into the “all the Sith” idea of multiple spirits inside him.

i think the whispers could work really well, but to me, they shouldn’t appear just in the end, they could be there in Exegol since the first Kylo enters the temple, like the ghostly voices of the past sith lurking in that darkside madness, they could be really suttle in the beggining, appearing here and there, and getting stronger closer to the end, taking a bigger leap when Palps regenerates.

I agree, but I’m gonna keep trying different effects on it to hopefully get something that works. If it doesn’t, no big deal.
Personally speaking, I do like the idea of having the Sith Whispers being in this final confrontation as being a last temptation sort of thing (even though it doesn’t really make sense in a 1:1 interpretation since Palp’s is trying to kill her at this point but whatever).
However, I’m really not a fan of the echo voice for Palpatine. It just seems really hokey to me (although you have done excellent work with it, Axlanian!)
Yeah, I’m still playing with the Palpatine voice thing. Right now I’m trying to just pitch his actual voice down to get something closer to his voice in Episode III after the Mace Windu confrontation. I feel like there’s something to this idea, but I’ll post a different version this weekend. But in my head, it’s less of a “last temptation” (I’m doing that too though, with Sith whispers on Exegol while Palpatine’s still trying to get her to kill him) and more like the disembodied Sith are all piling on her to try to break her at the most crucial moment.
No idea where they’re intended to go, but honestly those ‘sith whispers’ are very out of place during that moment really pulls you out of the climatic moment with Rey and Palpatine.
If it’s strictly Palpatine vs. Rey, then yeah I agree. I’m working on emphasizing the “I am all the Sith” idea throughout the movie, with Palpatine’s current body literally containing the spirits of the Sith that came before him. If this is included, it wouldn’t come out of nowhere, it would be built up throughout the movie whenever Palpatine speaks.
I’d be down for this. It kind of sounds like the Sith Whispers already, but just a little more explicit. The added whispers could also be really cool when Rey is wandering around Exegol, as they guide her to Palpatine…
Sherlock, did you hear my Sith voices test for the climax? I’d be totally down to make a sound pack of clips like this (not the Palpatine voice doubling, I’m still trying to make that work) so they could be added wherever you want.

Currently been cleaning up the Lando audio from the Star Tours ride however; theres a kid speaking over part of the message, unfortunately all the youtube recordings of the ride have crowd cheers with the exception of the one I have found.
So, I have a pretty janky solution for this: put some crackle or interference over when the kid speaks like Lando’s transmission is going out slightly.
Okay, I want to try this now. But does anyone have an idea of what footage to put the transmission into?

Oh! Or what if he calls out to her right before she sees him and gives him the lightsaber? (“Rey…”) Not super deep, perhaps; but conceptually, I think it would flow well.
I feel like this is the one that would work best. Though I’m sure someone could easily find some Sad Adam Driver Noises in Marriage Story if they wanted to add that to the bit where they take turns dying.

Okay, here’s an interesting idea. What if we laid the groundwork with Sith voices/whispers on Exegol like this:
An Idea that was on my mind last night. Anyone who has seen Rebels will remember the World between Worlds.
In The World between Worlds we hear the jedi past & present reverberating throughout the scene.
How about on Exegol we hear the Sith of past reverberating throughout the entire place?
I had the thought that instead of hearing moments from the past, the sith keep calling to Rey & Kylo.
whispering stuff like ‘‘Come to us…’’, ‘‘Be one with the darkside’’ & a bunch of sith whispers. It makes the sith seem parasitic (which they are & were).
And then it can build to Palpatine having multiple voices right at the end? Really just trying to add some weight to the “Sith” aspect of the movie instead of “Here’s a bunch of acolytes somehow”.
Maybe a falsetto one too, cuz y’know… species.
Can’t tell if this is kidding or not, but I’m willing to give it a shot!

I really wanted the “I am all the Sith” thing to lean into the “I am Legion” idea of the Sith literally possessing Palpatine’s body, so this is my attempt at conveying that. I’ve used Sade’s PHENOMENAL re-ordering of Palpatine’s dialogue, ending on “No match for the power in me”.
Now, I had seen people on here mention that the pregnant pause in dialogue in this cut was unfortunate, and some wishing that it ended on “You are nothing” so that it’s clear that Rey is responding to THAT specifically. So I let the Sith voices do the talking during that pause. Honestly, I’m pumped about how this is going, but I need everyone’s ears. Does this rule? Or does it suck?
If people want this for their edits, I would do it for all of Palpatine’s dialogue in the entire movie. Then editors could adjust levels however they like, or even do what RL suggested initially and only have the extra Sith voices come through occasionally.
I would essentially be supplying WAVs of each Sith voice separately so they could be mixed in as desired. Maybe sometimes you only want the whispery ones, maybe sometimes just the croaky ones, or the deep ones.

Like, okay, at this point, Rey is partway through her line “I am a Jedi.” The camera is doing a dramatic push in, the music score is rising up and crescendoing…to me, this pause is almost like Rey is “charging up” to unleash her final Jedi move on Palpatine. It’s a moment that should be building in hope and strength, not trying to tear Rey down more. So those “you’re nothing” whispers kind of work in opposition to what the scene seems to be trying to convey.
Hmm I get what you mean. The intention was to emphasize Rey embracing her identity as a Jedi (and, later, a Skywalker) by rejecting the labels people have given her all trilogy. It’s the make-or-break moment of the climax, and “All the Sith” are trying to wear her down while Sheev gloats. For me, it makes her triumphant moment stronger, because she’s not just pushing back physically, she’s pushing back against all that Sith “negging”
I get the idea of having Jedi encourage her instead, but:

The problem with leaving in “I am all the Sith!” is that Rey’s new “I’m a Jedi!” response has to specifically be to Sheevie’s “a SCAVENGER GIRL is no match for the power in me!” statement, right? (edit: just as the poster above said!) Perhaps swapping Palpatine’s lines would work. Here’s a crude mockup of that idea (forgive the unpolished audio and lack of ghosts).
Edit: Does Rey ever refer to herself as a Jedi before this? I know Luke does, but I think that’s alright. It’s just that for this to land well, I think it has to be a ‘breakthrough’ in her confidence in herself, overcoming that self-doubt (which would be undermined if she’d previously considered herself a Jedi).
This is one of those special edits. Such a simple change, but brought a smile to my face each time I watched it. I wholeheartedly think this is the solution. It keeps “I am all the Sith”, which allows Sheevykins to boast a bit longer before Rey slays him, which I think is better for the pacing of the scene than outright removing it. (Also, “You are nothing, I am all the Sith!” flows perfectly as a single sentence) But it still maintains the change everyone is loving here, where Rey retorts to being called a scavenger, not to the Sith comment. Well done!

This is such a small change, but it works flawlessly. Love it!
I was playing around with tweaking the exchange a little bit for my version. So instead of “A scavenger girl is no match for the power in me. I am ALL THE SITH!!” “And I…am all the Jedi.” I’d like it to go, “A scavenger girl is no match for the power in me.” “
AndI…am [a] Jedi.” Suddenly it goes from a stupid game of one-upmanship (“I’m more powerful!” “No, I’m more powerful!”) to something that culminates Rey’s arc - both in terms of this movie (“rising” to become a Jedi, like Luke before her, rather than falling to the Dark Side as has been her fear), and also her arc across the trilogy, going from a poor scavenger to a powerful Jedi.I mean, I guess you could argue that she’s accepting her responsibility of “a thousand generations live in [her] now”; but that seems less important to me than what she’s personally been struggling with this whole time. “I am all the Jedi” is the culmination of her arc of…trying one time to “hear the voices of the Jedi who came before,” and then suddenly being able to do it when the plot requires. Powerful stuff.
I’m just not sure how badly removing the word “all” will throw off the lip sync.
EDIT: Maybe I’ll mock something up tonight, if anyone is interested.
Very, VERY curious to see how this would turn out. Removing the Endgame moment would really help the climax. I do wonder how much impact those specific line deliveries would have if they’re trimmed down though. I hope it’s great!!
Issue 11 of Greg Pak’s run, from late last month? I thought they only had daggers in that. Or is this a different comic?
They did on the cover. Or maybe the cover is just clickbait. Who knows.
I’ve read the issue, they only have knives. A good amount of their comic cover art has been more like concept art, not necessarily accurate to what’s inside. Honestly the biggest problem with that issue is the dialogue.
What bit do you think I should test it on first? I was thinking of doing the part when Rey finally meets Mr. Sheev on Exegol
