The video is 9 minutes long and is separated by Knight. Each submission was assigned a number, and those numbers change from knight to knight. (Meaning that Ap’Lek #3 is not the same person as Ushar #3) This is to keep things as blind as possible.

NOTE: A couple of people just submitted a few lines instead of doing everything, so I’ve included everything I was sent. There will be a couple times in the video when it will seem like a submission was omitted, but I promise I’ve included every line I was given (or if multiple takes of the same line were supplied, I’ve just included the best take).

After listening to all the submissions for one knight, please post here telling me what your #1 and #2 picks are. After a day or two, I’ll see what the consensus is and reveal who everyone was!

After we’re done, I can create a Google Drive folder containing everyone’s clips with their names on them if people are interested in that. If not, I’ll just make a folder for the finalized audio for the “winners”.

The Knights of Ren need voices. It makes them feel a bit less pointless. But what should they say?!? I’ve recorded a handful of lines for scenes that would work best with a bit of talking. (Kylo’s mask reforging scene didn’t lend itself to any new dialogue, so I’ve skipped it)

I need everyone’s help with two things:

1. Listen to the dialogue options in the video linked below, and then let me know which you think works best.
2. Let me know if you’d like to voice one of the Knights! There are four total who speak, so I need three more people who can speak in a menacing, monotone voice.

This was an idea from krausfadr. After I watched his “RESURGENCE” workprint edit, I was going to ask if he would consider adding dialogue for the KoR, and it was already on his to-do list! His line suggestion “I get his teeth” was so menacing that I didn’t even bother giving other options for that bit.

I created the vocal effect based on the Knights’ grunts when Ben kills them.

When there’s a consensus on which lines are best, I’ll put together a list of who says what, and then I’ll have volunteers send me their raw audio so I can run it through the effects I’ve created. If anyone wants this audio for their edits, you’re welcome to it! Feel free to PM me for the isolated tracks.

I tried to come up with stuff here, but the only things that seemed to make sense and not just be filler were attempts at negging Kylo. “Try not to smash it this time”, stuff like that. It felt like it just interrupted the scene. I couldn’t make anything fit naturally.

Obviously it would make the most sense for the chatter to all be on a single channel, but if you get me the stems, I’m going to try mixing them a bit wider. If what we’re really after here is an inspiring moment of thousands of people showing up to help, I’d happily suspend my disbelief about the panning if it makes the scene hit harder.

Obviously, we won’t know if it works until we try, so I’ll attempt it when I get the sounds from you and report back.

I’d be happy to take a crack at it! Do you have the dialogue separated from the music, or are the two all on one layer? If there are separate stems, PM me and I’ll try to smooth it out.

Would you mind if I mixed this part for you? I do audio (not a video guy like most of you), so I could get the voices to sound more like the chatter Poe’s hearing in the beginning part of the scene. I wouldn’t have a problem getting them to sit on top of the music and spreading them out so they don’t sound like they’re sat right on top of each other.

Just as a show of what I can do, I’m currently working on giving the Knights of Ren voices, here’s my first attempt at recreating their vocal sound based off the grunts when Ben kills them. (Once we’ve pinned down the lines we want, we’ll need three other voices to join mine for this project if anyone’s interested!)

I was thinking the same thing, but from their POV, Kylo betrays them by switching sides. So maybe they should just sound agitated with him and his search for Rey.

It’s very similar to the previous Option E, but looking at it fresh after a few days, I wanted to add a little lens flare to integrate it, adjust the final trajectory/orientation of the ship and its hyperspace path, as well as a few other minor tweaks like matching the grain in the shot. Hope this is close!

I feel like any dialogue would just interrupt the scene, so unless you disagree, we should start coming up with more line ideas for the scenes I’ve done. I can do tests of each decent idea, and then when we have a final list, I can wrangle 5 other people to record lines and then finalize the audio. Does that sound good to you?

Kuruk: I get his teeth.

(It’s quite clear which Knight is speaking due to the body language)

Kijimi Alley Scene (the KoR pause in an alley just after Rey and the gang passed nearby):
Ushar: Luke’s scavenger girl. She’s close. Spread out.

(Ushar is the one in the middle, and assumedly is giving directions to the rest)

Exegol Ben Fight Scene (the KoR confront a weaponless Ben):

As they initially circle him:
Ushar: Well, look who finally made it.
Trudgen: Still chasing the girl, Ben?
Kuruk: Palpatine was right. You’re weak.

(Ushar is in front of the first shot, Trudgen is closest to the front and center in the second, and Kuruk is centered in the third)

After “She will take her revenge”:
Vicrul: What a disappointment.

(Vicrul is in the beginning of the shot and pans slightly behind Ben. Trudgen is also in the shot, but it doesn’t feel like he’s the one speaking)

When they see Ben’s saber:
Cardo: (mutters breathily) Oh, that’s not fair.

(Cardo is in the foreground and has the biggest physical reaction to the saber reveal)

This gives each Knight at least one line. So we would need six voices in total. To show a quick reference:

Palpatine’s voice isn’t a problem in that scene. With Kylo finding an old Empire fleet, I wonder if that rumored title “Ashes of the Empire” would work for this edit?

Eh, I’ve seen the Battle of the Heroes and DotF music mentioned multiple times here, but personally don’t know why we’d want to borrow a prequel-specific theme for the final Kylo/Rey duel. To me, this screams TPM and ROTS. It’s not like the main SW theme, or Force theme, etc. that’s been used across the whole saga. These are very specific to certain people and/or events and don’t come across as a good fit to me for this fight. For the hell of it, here’s a different take I just made that mixes in some Kylo and Rey motifs. See if you guys recognize the source. Seems like a better fit to me for the first half of the battle before JW’s The Final Duel music kicks in.

This is great! The one bit that makes it feel a little wonky is that at 1:12 it plays Kylo’s theme for a bit while the camera focuses on Rey. Musically, it would make more sense for Kylo to be striking more aggressively as that plays.

jonh, that is all looking fantastic. The blue lightsabers were so boring, you’ve made these scenes so much more visually interesting!

Glad you liked it! Yeah, let’s try to pin down what phrases we want them to say, then if we could get a few different people’s voices, there could be more diversity without having to create six different effects.

I like the idea of changing that line to “Kylo’s scavenger girl” or “Kylo’s pet scavenger”, I don’t think they’d call him Ren since they’re all Knights of Ren, but I’m not honestly clear on how their names work. But yes, definitely need a force-sensitive line here too.

What do you think about changing the way they recognize Chewie? I’m thinking if they were Luke’s students, they would have known Ben as a kid, and they would have met Cheque through that lens. Maybe instead of “A friend of Luke’s” he’d be “Solo’s Wookiee”? Maybe even “Solo’s Wookiee… from Luke’s Academy”.

Lastly, I really don’t know what lines to use on Exegol. What needs to be conveyed more than anything? That they were with the Emperor all along? That they think he’s a traitor? We need four good lines, and then a consensus on if the “That’s not fair” line is a poor fit.

Not sure which lines work, but I really like how “I get his teeth” turned out. I’ll record suggestions to see what fits best, and if anyone wants to try recording themselves, I’ll put the raw recording through the effects I set up.

Most of my comments were going to be about the Knights of Ren, so I’ve posted those on the relevant thread. I’m also glad that you’re planning to add the force ghosts and the Falcon taking off ending (with Finn, Poe and Chewie on the Falcon?). I love what you’ve done here, and these are my suggestions:

• Take one of Rey’s early “Be with me” lines, and add it at the end when she’s burying the sabers. Either put it when her face is off-screen, or make it echo so it’s in her mind.
• Tweak the crawl. If this is indeed a Rey Nobody cut, the movie needs a new name. I’ve made some suggested changes in bold. If you think they change things for the worse, I won’t be offended:

Episode IX

A BETTER NAME FOR THIS MOVIE

All who dared speak the name of Luke Skywalker are now silent, slaughtered by his former students, the merciless KNIGHTS OF REN. Yet whispers of the Jedi Master still echo across the galaxy.

Supreme Leader Kylo Ren rages in torment! Haunted by the memory of his father, he means to destroy Han Solo’s home world of CORELLIA to further kill the past, erasing all reminders of his paternal heritage.

As for potential titles, I checked a bunch of old speculation articles, and I like “The Last Hope”, “The Final Order”, or “Ashes of the Empire”.

Pasaana intial reveal and pan:
Palpatine echoing: My servants… (take any line of him saying “My servant” and then copy the initial “S” from servant and paste it at the end. I can make this if you have the isolated dialogue stems)
Then insert one of the cut lines from Palpatine to Kylo about getting Rey for him, like “Bring me the girl” or something. This can set up the idea that they are more loyal to Palpatine than to Ren.

I think this is great, but I think the other suggestion of adding a third line about his fur is too much.

“Start killing all the women.” Is too cartoonishly evil, and “Just like the temple” is a bit too hamfisted. I agree that there should be little bits to remind us of them being Luke’s students, but I don’t think those lines work here.
