Star Wars OT & 1997 Special Edition - Various Projects Info (Released)
Time

I've managed to fix the Vader frame, but the Luke one i would need a copy of the previous frame to be able to attempt to do anything with it

EDIT: Sorry, i didn't see that Harmy and yourself have already fixed this frame

I also just checked that Frame from the Wampa cave in ESB and that final frame and the following are both clean in the PAL version of the GOUT

FFWD to 03:10 (if it's showing counting down, then 01:30)

Question: What was the full title of the original Star Wars.

Answer: Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope

Announcer: I don't know if she's right or wrong but it sounds good.

Aw man. I just came here to post that.

For a hot chick she did pretty good. I'm guessing the guy wanted just "Star Wars," but my mind immediately went to "Adventures of the Starkiller, Episode I: The Star Wars." =P

Actually there isn't really a problem with the answer given to that question. Now if it had been worded "what was the original title of the first Star Wars" then the Episode IV:A New Hope answer would have been incorrect.

Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace appreciation society

This group is dedicated to the fact the Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace is a great movie. We are here to celebrate the first instalment of the prequel trilogy.
Note: We are not saying that The Phantom Menace is better than the Holy Trilogy, just that it is not as bad as everyone says it is.
Please post pictures, videos, quotes, anything at all that relates to The Phantom Menace.

I see that Adywan is a member. =P

That's the one thing i hate about the new facebook software. Anyone can add you to a group and you don't know about it until it shows up in your newsfeeds. They don't even need your permission any more.

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)
Time

i guess they got a bunch of people they knew would say how good the transfers look, but really haven't got a clue what they are saying. Clueless statements, like the above mentioned and the following, invalidated anything that they say in that review for me:

While the newer Star Wars films were ready made for high definition, the older films will obviously suffer a little from the all scrutinizing eye of HD. (The only pre-digital, color sci-fi film that holds up spectacularly well to date is 2001: A Space Odyssey; and to quote Malcolm McDowell out of context, you’re talking about Stanley fucking Kubrick. No offense, Mr. Lucas.)

That is true with ESB too. The original version of ESB was the 70mm version as this was the one finished first and contained some differences from the 35mm print. I was lucky enough to see the 70mm versions of Star Wars and ESB when they were first released (although a few months after people would have seen them in the US because of the UK release date)

Blu Ray movies look...wrong
Time

Yes, Ziz is correct. Almost all of the time it isn't a problem with the source but in fact the TV you are watching it on. Many HDTV's now have 200hz (or greater) motion. This is supposed to eliminate motion blur and judder but will give the "video" look you mentioned. I have it on my Samsung HD3DTV. On default setting it makes films look like video. The first thing i watched on it was one of the new episodes of Doctor who and the film look wasn't there. It has that 70's Doctor Who video look. But luckily you can adjust /turn it of. The problem was gone and HD films once again looked like film.

Oh and don't get me started on that Predator Blu-Ray with the plastic faces.....

I love HD. It's just evolution baby ;)

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)
Time

Well almost all of the posts defending the OUT over at Bluray.com have now been deleted and we get a nice little warning from the site owner:

For the last time and it's not name the system, if you want to fight about the UOT the changes that damaged the universe or all that bantha go to the appropriate thread. Otherwise the Death Star will suspend you to beyond the Christmas after the discs are released. Do I make myself clear? I grow tired of asking this so it will be the last time.

I guess we know which camp the owner belongs to.

There are some real idiots over there that really haven't got a clue what they are talking about, yet if you try to put them straight and you'll get a ban. With all these idiots wanting the OT puppet Yoda replaced by the CG version because "it doesn't look like the PT version", defending the colouring of the 2004 DVD set saying "it makes the films look better" and "it makes them more atmospheric", "the model work on the OT looks Fake and that it should be redone with CG" etc etc etc, i'm finding myself more and more disillusioned about being a Star Wars fan if this is what the fan base is becoming.

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)

I reposted Zombie's post from AVS over at Blu-ray.com and it's now been deleted, along with most of the posts i have made since i joined the other day. That forum is very one sided. It seems that anyone that has valid points about the original unaltered versions vs the constantly changing special editions will just get their posts deleted, but ones that are attacking the people who want the OUT or are typical Lucas gushers don't have their posts removed. I guess the mods their are either SE fans or too afraid of upsetting George.

And NONE of kenkraly's posts have been deleted, It's almost as if he has copied and pasted all the things he has said here and on other sites. Makes me wonder if their all clones of Kenkraly over there ;)

BTW- you said the missing frames from the Wampa scene didn't come from the GOUT, but I'm still unclear as to where you harvested them as I assume they're missing on all post-1997 sources (?)

I'd like to know this as well. Maybe Ady used SE background plate and rotoscoped Luke in from GOUT in the

missing frames, like I did it in my ESB using this reconstruction.

No, i only used  the HDSE version to reconstruct the missing frames. No GOUT was used

Get yourself over to your local CAB they may have a list of solicitors who would give you a free consultation because I'm pretty sure under probate law neither side of a joint bequest can sell without the consent of the the other side.

Unless the car was left directly to your brother it's not his alone either.

You could take out a new mortgage on your dad's house to pay off your brother's half and rent out your current home, either directly, via an agent or via the local authority which could be used to pay off the new mortgage.

A friend of mine did something similar in a similar situation.

I'd get that black-listing looked into too because it's a common problem south of the border but it can be sorted out.

Our family is blessed by never having a bean to our name to worry about at times like this.

When you are trying to cope with grief having to handle money squabbles too adds indignity to the pain.

Usually all these items would be audited by the Inland Revenue so he has no business selling anything of your Father's until a tax audit has been concluded anyway.

Having spoke to a solicitor he can force the sale of the house if i do not have the funds to buy out his half of the house. Our flat is a council flat (well housing accosiation now) so it is against the law for us to rent it out. Because our flat is blacklisted our credit rating is shot to hell so they won't lend us the money. We're stuck in a hole here.

I did try adding some more movement to Bossk, but it didn't look too good so i dropped the idea.

As for the "red mist" it is impossible to see in motion because it is one frame before a shot change. It can only be seen going frame by frame. You could notice the saber because of the brightness change but not the rotoscoping bleed on the left.

The motion blur on the final frame of that falcon shot has me stumped though. I have checked the video in the timeline and the motion blur is there, but not on the video i posted. But this is impossible as it was composited in After effects then imported into Vegas. So if it is on the timeline in Vegas it should have been  in the video. But i did render that video before Dad started his treatment so i may have had the unfinished version there at that point, i just don't know.

Anyway i just don't give a shit about this edit at the moment. I'm trying to save my dads house from being sold . I can't get a mortgage yet and have offered to pay my brother monthly to buy out his half of the house until we can get the mortgage to cover the rest, it looks like he just wants to sell the house. That house was our family home and there are too many memories of Mum & Dad for me to let it go, but he just doesn't seem to care. I even tried to get a loan for a few thousand that would probably persuade him to let me buy out his half, but we were refused that too . Seems like our house is blacklisted because of a bad loan that had nothing to do with us. But please don't mention anything about what i have said  on facebook or anywhere else because it will only make matters worse.

With all this and the fact that our house is a poison pit thanks to black mold and severe damp, which is ruining all our possessions, and we are going to lose this house because it's what is making my health worse, but if he sells the house we still won't have enough money to even but a small place and will have to use that money to rent somewhere until they sort out the house, which is going to take months. The last thing Mum and dad would have wanted was for one of us to be a lot worse off after they left us the house than what we were when they were alive.

I'm thinking of selling off my whole Star Wars collection, but i doubt that would raise enough money in enough time, plus i promised the whole collection to my kids when i die.

Wow, great clip! The changes I noticed are the Executor's engines, CG Millenium Falcon, Yoda's lip movements, re-rotoscoped sabers and the fixed continuity of Yoda getting off Luke's back. Did I miss anything?

Jump cut fix when Vaders helmet explodes (as has been said),  motion blur added to the bogwings, 3 eyed lizard, Lukes lightsaber straightened, different stardestroyer after the wipe from the bounty hunters scene & new asteroid field.

Someone found this:

http://www.fsk.de/index.asp?SeitID=491&TID=70&txtFilmtitel=star+wars

So about 46 minuted of extended(?) scenes for the PT and about 47 for the OT. Interesting that the OT ones seem to be split into two parts. But you could probably halve that running time because there are probably introductions included in that.

What about Bossk's arm? Around the 5:23 mark. It just seems to dangle there, in a really weird bent angle. Has it been discussed already?
Will/can that be fixed?

There isn't anything wrong with Bossk's arm in this scene. Nothing to fix there.

Just fixed the wobbly panel
