Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)

Adywan 1st off we don't know if the same transfers for SE OT that where on dvd will be used for the blu-ray box set. Why do you keep saying that? DVD's are 480p and Blu-Ray is 1080p ok. And the encodes for DVD's are MPEG 2 blu-rays are using VC-1 or AVC HD MPEG 4. We won't know what the transfers will look until we see screen captures on the different blu-ray sites like digital bits , blu-ray.com etc.

What are you smoking? Maybe if you actually knew what the hell you were talking about then i might b able to have a decent discussion with you. But i guess now you have got your little posse over at blu-ray.com that will attack anyone who dare question the great George Lucas and mods that delete anything that goes against the gushing, you feel the need to come back because you've got a little braver.

You say the same thing over and over and over and over again. You say you don't want to argue, so why is it that when anyone over at blu-ray.com starts attacking anyone who says the prequels and SE's are shit, that you suddenly jump in and join in the attack against them. In fact that place is just a gushers paradise. When you have mods that are so biased against anyone who can speak their own mind and actually produce facts to prove these gushers wrong, then why don't you just stay over there. I really can't understand why you feel the need to come here. You do realise what this site is about don't you? This isn't I-love-everything-George-does-so-i-will-kiss-hiss-butt-and-the-colars-will-be-fixed.com

And please don't come back with that "I like your edits and support you so please don't argue with me" crap like you always do. You seem to forget that people can access what you say on other forums (Blu-Ray.com):

I do not support illegal fan edits and never will. I will to continue to support GL and all of his star wars films and products and not listen to some of these GL bashers out their.

And why is it that the mods will delete and move any post that support the preservation of the theatrical versions claiming its going off topic, yet leave all the gushing posts and ramblings of mad men and posts that attack other members who aren't Lucas worshippers? Every time i try to reply to you and your asshole friends it gets deleted, but you are in a different world now little boy ;) So let's have some fun. Anybody else think a lot of these rambling sound very familiar?

An extract from my upcoming book: "$#*! Kenkraly says:"

Can't wait for the release of the saga blu-ray box set on September 16th. I also hope the release back here in the U.S. is very good that is if the packaging and disc art is the same as the U.K. release if it is it will be very close.

I am going to buy the complete saga on blu-ray and to me the changes made to the OT for the special editions made the films better why some fans can't see that I will never understand. Their is nothing wrong with those changes ok it made the films better with those changes. I never grew up with OOT when it 1st came out I was born in July 83 the year ROTJ came out so I did'nt see the films in the theater until 97. The special editions to me are the best version of the films. Are you going to get on me just because I like special editions of the OT?

I've heard this story before bottom line is they are GL's film's he is an artiest and he can release them any way he want's to. No fan petitions are not going to make either GL or LFL change their minds on which version of the OT is released the special editions are the ones that are being released on blu-ray and I have no problem with that at all.

They are GL films people he can do what ever he wants to them. Get this through you head.

I have no problem with the changes to the films over the years. Why some do I will never understand they are GL films he has every right to change them.

The SE's of the OT are he perfered versions of the films ok why can't some fans understand that?

I am saying the SE's of the OT are the versions he wants out their because he was never happy with the original versions. Is it that hard to understand?

Bottom line is we should be thanking GL yes thanking GL for giving us the star wars saga and allowing the saga to continue with the clone wars cartoon series. Star Wars whould not be Star Wars without GL.

If I hear 1 more person say GL doesn't care about the fans I am going to go mad. GL does care about the fans so stop saying he does not.

Bluyoda I agree with all of your posts about the blu-ray box set so don't call me a broken record. So take back what you said.

I know I say the same things over and over again of what I want fixed for the OT on blu-ray , the color timing issues , the sound mix for episode 4 A New Hope and so on but these issues are important that where messed up in 2004 for the dvd release and they need to be addressed for the blu-ray release. Soory if I say those things over and over again but these issues are important and need to be addressed.

I am very excited for the blu-ray release of the star wars saga as well looking forward to September 16th 2011 as well. I already pre-ordered the complete saga on amazon.com. September 16th can't come soon enough.

The star wars saga on blu-ray is going to be the biggest selling box set in the history of the blu-ray format since it launched in 2006. A lot of people are waiting to buy a blu-ray player just for this blu-ray box set of the saga. And the box set willl sell a lot of copy's desbite what the complainers say. And the transfer for the films as far as the picture and sound goes will look good. I know when it comes out I will be enjoying the box set and so will other star wars fans.

No I don't. But the blu-rays of the saga will sell well desbite all of the complaining about how the transfers about the picture and sound and it will be the best the films have ever looked.

I pre-ordered my complete saga box set back in January on amazon.com for $89.99. I don't care what some fans and others say about the prequels I like them sure they are not prefect but I like all of the films and that's all that matters.

Anytime fans or other people say the prequel films are no good I don't like it. Sure the prequel films do have their flaws in them I do admit that but they are not as bad as everyone says they are. The prequels are just as enjoyable as the original trilogy and all 6 films are enjoyable.

Adywan I understand everyone has their opinion on star wars and all thing star wars. But when some fans pick on and complain about the prequels , the SE's of the OT or anything else when it comes to star wars I get upset. I know I shouldn't but that's the way I feel. Just like star wars all the films and leave it at that. I never said if you don't like the prequels your not a true star wars fan. It's some people on forums and blogs who said that not me. And we are all star wars fans and that's the way it should be.

Fair enough I do at times can be pretty aggressive to people who have disagreed with me but I don't mean to at all. In the end we are all star wars fans to the very end and we have different opinions on star wars and all of the films. I like all the films some fans don't like all 6 films I understand that. I've talked about this with you for 7 years about the dvd color timing issues and sound mix problems. We know about them my opinion is all of those problems will be fixed for the blu-ray release by LFL and hopefully they will be. You have your view opinions on star wars and I have mine.

The SE of the OT are good their is nothing wrong with them. They are GL's films he can release them anyway he want's to. Do I wish the cut's of the UOT was out on blu-ray? Yes but I am not going to be upset over it and dwell on it. It is the way it is.

Agreed I prefer the special editions of the original trilogy as appose to the theatrical editions. They look much better and come September 16th the films on blu-ray in the box set will look and sound the best they have ever been.

GL does care about the fans of star wars and star wars in general if it was'nt for GL star wars would not be what it is today without him. He has given us so much when it comes to star wars. He is not a bad guy. So what if he does'nt want to release the UOT on blu-ray right now they are his movies he is the filmmaker he can release them any way he wants to.

Come this September I will be enjoying the Star Wars Saga on Blu-Ray in full 1080P HD video and DTS HD Master Audio 6.1. Star Wars is forever and always will be.

Now I know some fans are worried about how the transfer of the films for the picture and sound will look like for the blu-ray box set at least as far as the OT is consern. The thing is though we don't know how the blu-rays will look and sound until the set comes out on September 16th none of us know yet. We need to reserve judgement until the set comes out. Then we can judge for ourselves how good the picture and sound transfers of the blu-ray's will be.

I am looking forward to the blu-ray box set of the star wars saga on September 16th. It's going to be fun watching all the films in 1080p HD and listening to it in DTS HD Master audio 6.1. And it's going to be the proper aspect ratio and it won't be compressed on some channel on cable or satellite. Another thing a lot of people for whatever reason are judging the reason before it comes out 1st off we don't know what the set will look like and we need to reserve our judgment for the star wars saga blu-ray box set until it comes out. The Star Wars saga on blu-ray is the biggest release in the history of the blu-ray format and we should be happy about it yes it whould be nice to have the original theatrical cuts of the original trilogy on the blu-ray box set but those will be released later in a future release so we should just be happy that the star wars films are coming to blu-ray.

Adywan no one want to argue with you ok but I disagree about your opinion about the complete saga box art. I think it looks good maybe not great but it's not bad and yes it could have been done better with the poster art that I will agree with you. The bottom line is where getting the blu-ray box set for the films and the extra stuff that is on them not on weather the box art is good or not. And star wars is enjoyable for everyone not just for kids.

We could go on and on about the errors from the 2004 dvd's weather they will be fixed or not or about the original theatrical versions versions vs the special editions. The bottom line is the star wars saga on blu-ray is going to be one of the biggest selling blu-ray box set in the history of the format since the format launched in 2006. And come September 16th we are going to enjoy having the films n blu-ray in our collections. I know I am.

Only 2 more months until Star Wars The Complete Saga comes out on Blu-Ray Disc. September 16th can't come fast enough. Looking forward to the release and seeing all 6 films in stunning 1080p HD Video and listening to them in DTS HD Master Audio 6.1 surround sound.

Agreed The Star Wars Films on blu-ray will look good in 1080p especially Episode 2 ATOC and Episode 3 ROTS and Episode 1 TPM will hopefully have a new digital transfer.

The Star Wars Films will look good on blu-ray come this September. And I'm sure LFL has taken their time to get the transfers of the Special Editions of the OT right this time around and knock on wood all those errors from the 2004 dvd transfers of the OT will be fixed and correct (Sorry if I said that before) also the prequel films will look good on blu-ray I'm not worried about that.

I don't know anything but their are people on the net claming I do but it's not true. This website has been nice to me but on other online fourms like I get yelled at because I like the SE's of the OT and like the PT's and I support GL.

The star wars films will look good on blu-ray ok even the prequels will look good in 1080p.

You tell'em Bluyoda screw the haters. These trolls all they want to do is bash GL every chance they get and it's not nice at all.

I voted for UOT included because we all know it will not be included.

This will be a day long remembered. Very excited for the complete star wars saga. And to all you star wars haters out their screw you.

Great job looking forward to star wars the complete saga on September 16th on blu-ray disc. Star Wars is forever.

Looking forward to star wars the complete saga on September 16th on blu-ray disc. Star Wars is forever.

Agree 100% percent. And people saying GL does not respect the fans is wrong he has done everything good for star wars sure he may make changes / edits to the films that we don't like but in the end he does respect the fans. And people saying the prequels are no good to me are'nt real star wars fans. I like all 6 films to me it's one complete saga.

All right I am sorry I angered star wars fans please forgive me. But I can't stand it when fans bash GL and the prequels it's that not hard to understand. I am a star wars fan and don't bash GL and the prequel films like some fans do.

This star wars blu-ray box set is going to be great. The films themeselfs all 6 are going look great in beautiful 1080p HD hd resolution and DTS HD Master Audio 6.1 sound and I think all of the errors from the 2004 OT DVD's of the Special Editions will be addressed and fixed for the blu-ray release. And for those fans complaining about the original cuts of the original trilogy and why they are not on the blu-ray release take a look at the anatomy of a dewback documentary on star wars.com and that will be on the blu-ray box set in the documentary GL explains why the films where change and restorted for the speical editions because the negatives for the original cuts of the OT had degraded.

I like the changes made to the original trilogy for the special editions they tie all 6 films together and they improved the films. Why some fans complain about the SE changes to this day I will never understand. If you don't like the changes to the OT for the SE then don't watch the films. I like all 6 films and I don't listen to those complainers out their about the special editions of the original trilogy because all they do is complain and whine about it to this day.

Your are a troll not me. The colors and the sound mix for EP 4 will be fixed for the blu-ray release you don't know that you don't know anything about the blu-ray releases and I don't either. So I don't want to here anything you have to say. Do not cause trouble you understand. Those trolls at originaltrilogy.com are mean and disrespectfull. You keep it up and I will report you.

And that is just a small sample of shit you said in ONE SINGLE THREAD

So why don't you just head back to your boyfriends over at blu-ray.com and continue to report me when i disagree with all the crap you and your gusher harem come out with and maybe you'll be able to get me banned this time instead of just a suspension. After all we are all just f**king disrespectful trolls here.

I bet a hundred dollars that it is real. It's precisely what LFL would release nowadays. Did you expect it to be good?

Yeh, they're real:( You can tell by the fact that each disc has had the same style of artistic treatment done to them as is on the separate trilogy box sets. It must've taken the art department al of 10 minutes to create those. Another set that has been created by the cheapest possible means to make the highest possible profit. It's not looking too good for the transfers of the OTSE. Same old crappy transfers we already have from the HDTV sources. but with even worse additions.

FFWD to 03:10 (if it's showing counting down, then 01:30)

Question: What was the full title of the original Star Wars.

Answer: Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope

Announcer: I don't know if she's right or wrong but it sounds good.

Aw man. I just came here to post that.

For a hot chick she did pretty good. I'm guessing the guy wanted just "Star Wars," but my mind immediately went to "Adventures of the Starkiller, Episode I: The Star Wars." =P

Actually there isn't really a problem with the answer given to that question. Now if it had been worded "what was the original title of the first Star Wars" then the Episode IV:A New Hope answer would have been incorrect.

i guess they got a bunch of people they knew would say how good the transfers look, but really haven't got a clue what they are saying. Clueless statements, like the above mentioned and the following, invalidated anything that they say in that review for me:

While the newer Star Wars films were ready made for high definition, the older films will obviously suffer a little from the all scrutinizing eye of HD. (The only pre-digital, color sci-fi film that holds up spectacularly well to date is 2001: A Space Odyssey; and to quote Malcolm McDowell out of context, you’re talking about Stanley fucking Kubrick. No offense, Mr. Lucas.)

That is true with ESB too. The original version of ESB was the 70mm version as this was the one finished first and contained some differences from the 35mm print. I was lucky enough to see the 70mm versions of Star Wars and ESB when they were first released (although a few months after people would have seen them in the US because of the UK release date)

Blu Ray movies look...wrong
Time

Yes, Ziz is correct. Almost all of the time it isn't a problem with the source but in fact the TV you are watching it on. Many HDTV's now have 200hz (or greater) motion. This is supposed to eliminate motion blur and judder but will give the "video" look you mentioned. I have it on my Samsung HD3DTV. On default setting it makes films look like video. The first thing i watched on it was one of the new episodes of Doctor who and the film look wasn't there. It has that 70's Doctor Who video look. But luckily you can adjust /turn it of. The problem was gone and HD films once again looked like film.

Oh and don't get me started on that Predator Blu-Ray with the plastic faces.....

I love HD. It's just evolution baby ;)

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)
Time

Well almost all of the posts defending the OUT over at Bluray.com have now been deleted and we get a nice little warning from the site owner:

For the last time and it's not name the system, if you want to fight about the UOT the changes that damaged the universe or all that bantha go to the appropriate thread. Otherwise the Death Star will suspend you to beyond the Christmas after the discs are released. Do I make myself clear? I grow tired of asking this so it will be the last time.

I guess we know which camp the owner belongs to.

There are some real idiots over there that really haven't got a clue what they are talking about, yet if you try to put them straight and you'll get a ban. With all these idiots wanting the OT puppet Yoda replaced by the CG version because "it doesn't look like the PT version", defending the colouring of the 2004 DVD set saying "it makes the films look better" and "it makes them more atmospheric", "the model work on the OT looks Fake and that it should be redone with CG" etc etc etc, i'm finding myself more and more disillusioned about being a Star Wars fan if this is what the fan base is becoming.

I reposted Zombie's post from AVS over at Blu-ray.com and it's now been deleted, along with most of the posts i have made since i joined the other day. That forum is very one sided. It seems that anyone that has valid points about the original unaltered versions vs the constantly changing special editions will just get their posts deleted, but ones that are attacking the people who want the OUT or are typical Lucas gushers don't have their posts removed. I guess the mods their are either SE fans or too afraid of upsetting George.

And NONE of kenkraly's posts have been deleted, It's almost as if he has copied and pasted all the things he has said here and on other sites. Makes me wonder if their all clones of Kenkraly over there ;)

I'd like to know this as well. Maybe Ady used SE background plate and rotoscoped Luke in from GOUT in the

missing frames, like I did it in my ESB using this reconstruction.

No, i only used the HDSE version to reconstruct the missing frames. No GOUT was used

Get yourself over to your local CAB they may have a list of solicitors who would give you a free consultation because I'm pretty sure under probate law neither side of a joint bequest can sell without the consent of the the other side.

Unless the car was left directly to your brother it's not his alone either.

You could take out a new mortgage on your dad's house to pay off your brother's half and rent out your current home, either directly, via an agent or via the local authority which could be used to pay off the new mortgage.

A friend of mine did something similar in a similar situation.

I'd get that black-listing looked into too because it's a common problem south of the border but it can be sorted out.

Our family is blessed by never having a bean to our name to worry about at times like this.

When you are trying to cope with grief having to handle money squabbles too adds indignity to the pain.

Usually all these items would be audited by the Inland Revenue so he has no business selling anything of your Father's until a tax audit has been concluded anyway.

Having spoke to a solicitor he can force the sale of the house if i do not have the funds to buy out his half of the house. Our flat is a council flat (well housing accosiation now) so it is against the law for us to rent it out. Because our flat is blacklisted our credit rating is shot to hell so they won't lend us the money. We're stuck in a hole here.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

I did try adding some more movement to Bossk, but it didn't look too good so i dropped the idea.

As for the "red mist" it is impossible to see in motion because it is one frame before a shot change. It can only be seen going frame by frame. You could notice the saber because of the brightness change but not the rotoscoping bleed on the left.

The motion blur on the final frame of that falcon shot has me stumped though. I have checked the video in the timeline and the motion blur is there, but not on the video i posted. But this is impossible as it was composited in After effects then imported into Vegas. So if it is on the timeline in Vegas it should have been in the video. But i did render that video before Dad started his treatment so i may have had the unfinished version there at that point, i just don't know.

Anyway i just don't give a shit about this edit at the moment. I'm trying to save my dads house from being sold . I can't get a mortgage yet and have offered to pay my brother monthly to buy out his half of the house until we can get the mortgage to cover the rest, it looks like he just wants to sell the house. That house was our family home and there are too many memories of Mum & Dad for me to let it go, but he just doesn't seem to care. I even tried to get a loan for a few thousand that would probably persuade him to let me buy out his half, but we were refused that too . Seems like our house is blacklisted because of a bad loan that had nothing to do with us. But please don't mention anything about what i have said on facebook or anywhere else because it will only make matters worse.

With all this and the fact that our house is a poison pit thanks to black mold and severe damp, which is ruining all our possessions, and we are going to lose this house because it's what is making my health worse, but if he sells the house we still won't have enough money to even but a small place and will have to use that money to rent somewhere until they sort out the house, which is going to take months. The last thing Mum and dad would have wanted was for one of us to be a lot worse off after they left us the house than what we were when they were alive.

I'm thinking of selling off my whole Star Wars collection, but i doubt that would raise enough money in enough time, plus i promised the whole collection to my kids when i die.

Wow, great clip! The changes I noticed are the Executor's engines, CG Millenium Falcon, Yoda's lip movements, re-rotoscoped sabers and the fixed continuity of Yoda getting off Luke's back. Did I miss anything?

Jump cut fix when Vaders helmet explodes (as has been said), motion blur added to the bogwings, 3 eyed lizard, Lukes lightsaber straightened, different stardestroyer after the wipe from the bounty hunters scene & new asteroid field.
