I love the smell of dts hd ma bluray melting plastic in the morning.

For a 40+ year old bloke you sure act like a whiney little girl. Maybe locking yourself in your little room watching your laserdiscs in your underwear has fried your brain a little.I thought i would fix your comment to reflect what you really wanted to say...

The pink hue is not going to be on the actual blu-rays some of you on here are over re-acting. I will be buying this set if some of you are not that's fine.

How do you know this? Do you have the Blu-Ray? Why don't you wait until the Blu-rays actually come out before you start saying that there is no pink hue. I'm sure that the collars of the blu-rays will be pink and you need to stop complaning because it is george lucas film and he is god and don't you dare say anything against him kenkraly. You hear me. Now stop it. I will not say it again. Your just mean

;)

But seriously, why the hell is there still an argument going on over at blu-ray.com about the bloody pink sabres? Idiots like danny_boy still claim that they were supposed to be pink because a photo taken from a cinema screen shows it (even though it the core that is pink and the glow, which everyone was talking about, is red). And then they are using old promotional material where vaders sabre looks pink. It's all pathetic. The colours are screwed on most of the lightsaber shots and vaders sabre swaps from pink to red. how can this be intentional if his sabre was always supposed to have been pink? yet they ignore the fact that the sith sabres in the prequels are bloody red all the way though. If they were supposed to be pink all the time in the OT then why the hell did they make them red in the PT?

How can people really just say "i don't care how bad the colours of the set looks, it's star wars on blu-ray. i'm going to buy it anyway because it's how george wants the films to look"? Brainwashed sheep

You know that's interesting because it really reminded me of, there's a guy, who's actually in the film, whose name is Adywan he's essentially a God among fan-editors.

lol. Don't let Anti-matter see that. He'd probably have an aneurysm. ;)

Really??

The menus were quite neat and creative, but seriously, they looked 5 times more fake than the worst cases of CG in EpII.
Which is alright for a menu, but come on, look at Obi-wan fighting Jango in the language selection, then compare it to the scene... really?

And, please tell me where i even mentioned anything about the Cg when i said about how good they looked? I'm pretty sure that i was talking about the colours, crushed blacks etc. And i certainly don't remember Obi-Wan fighting jango in the 2004 DVD menus. Was jango in the OT? Was that addition to the SE's that i missed ;) Really?

EDIT: I guess you were replying to TVs Frink and not me. Didn't see his post before mine. Sorry

I guess it's a Star Wars trait. The DVD menus were great, and there was nothing like them on DVD.

I for one will stick my neck out and also say the 2004 DVD menus were great.

Shame about almost everything else though.

The menus were the best thing about the 2004 DVDs. It comes to something when the menus look better than the films themselves; correct colours, no crushed blacks, just how the films should have looked. There seemed to be more care put into the creation of those menus than the end product of the movies.

The funny thing is if you read reviews over there, it's the greatest thing that ever happened to cinema.

That's probably why he never wanted to release it to anyone who isn't a member of his website. It makes you wonder just how many bad reviews he deleted from there and kept only the glowing ones. There would NEVER be any bad reviews for any of his work over there because he would ban them immediately and delete their posts. He thinks he is the god of all fan editors and it wouldn't surprise me at all if somewhere down the line he starts to claim that he started the whole fan edit scene. :)

danny_boy, you want to continue to insult me over at Blu-ray.com just to get me suspended if i retaliate then fine. You have a beef with me then bring it directly to me instead of your pathetic backhanded swipes about me in comments to other members over there.

You're whole argument that "vaders sabre has always been pink" was flawed from the start because you chose to ignore that it was the glow we were talking about and not the core. You used screenshots from the baltimore showing to prove your point, even though the glow clearly showed that vaders sabre was always red. And then you bring 005 into your argument and posted his screenshot of the sabres which had nothing to do with the discussion at all.

Now back on topic kenobi3 over at blu-ray.com just posted this look at the special features disc menu (disc 7) for the prequels:

Just couldn't help but laugh at this quote:

"The first three films were done on film, so they were never seen like this before. We’ve never seen them at this resolution, so you’re going to see things that you’ve never seen before," said Goodson.

Ermm, yes we have on our HDTV's for the past few years, or have i been imagining the HD broadcasts?

Thanks for posting that Ady.

It looks lighter blue but it still looks blue, where as here it looks pinky orange (even in it's shadows) :

Well it looks like whatever was used to capture the image from the star wars site has given it a pink tint. Here is a better capture:

But the dark areas of the death star defiantly look like they have a brownish tint

and here is a comparison between the 1997 SE & blu-ray trailer versions of vaders sabre in ESB.

erghhhhhhhhhh.

Has anyone managed to get a screen capture of the ROTJ Death Star and the Rebel fighters?

From the split second I saw the whole thing seems much more blue than before (indigo Death Star, magenta engine glows) that wouldn't match with the tangerine Death Star seen in earlier screenshots.

The new official trailer is now up:

http://uk.movies.yahoo.com/blog/article/234525/star-wars-the-complete-sagaexclusive-trailer.html

so they went in and fixed the crossed lightsabres (and the Emperors slug by the looks of things)yet made Vaders sabre even more pink in ESB. The colours of ESB still look pretty screwed.

yeh, or you would probably have to give him the secret handshake of the order of Antimatter to pledge your loyalty before you would get a copy.

It's pretty funny that he is so paranoid of people wanting to steal his work though. Hasn't he already stolen george's work in the first place, along with most of the ideas from Star Wars: Reborn and the other similar edits?

There are some things i just don't think work and others that i just couldn't do with what i either had available or the knowledge to do back then, which i will be changing (oh my god, i am George Lucas. lol). What these things are, well i'm going to keep many a secret ;)

Extremely Silly Website: digital-fanedits.com (Was: Extremely Silly Article About Star Wars Prologue On DVD)

That guy has such a huge ego it's laughable. digital-fanedits.com is his own website which he started when he decided to leave here (probably because he wasn't getting the attention and praise that he so clearly craved here). It's such a self promotional crapsite. These bits really made me laugh:

There are only a handful of people on this planet who are privileged to own a copy of the Star Wars Prologue DVD, and maybe a dozen or so more who can say they've watched it. That's about to change.

Even more miraculous is the elusive DVD. By Halloween 2009, the Prologue had been enhanced and expanded into its final cut. This then prompted production of a master DVD and an updated AVI version for the community (the so-called "Extended DVD Cut"). Unlike most fan-editors, however, Anti-Matter never intended for his DVD to be readily available:

"By the time I finished, I had seen and read enough at the two largest fanedit websites to convince me that too many people might want the DVD only to exploit it or profit from it. I made the DVD for myself and people I trusted. The AVI release was a compromise of sorts. It allowed me to share the work responsibly with people I didn't know."

So why release the DVD now? It's a combination of two factors: continued interest in the Prologue on DVD, and the imminent arrival of the prequel trilogy on Blu-ray. Anti-Matter is betting on the popularity of high-definition media and the official Blu-ray editions to divert the attention of Star Wars bootleggers. In short, Anti-Matter feels that the DVD format is so less appealing today that the only people who would bother to download and burn a dual-layer, NTSC DVD are true fans of the movie who just want the best possible quality and packaging.

Star Wars Prologue was edited from high-definition sources, but produced specifically for standard definition. Thus, the DVD is as good as it's ever going to be. According to the rumor mill, the DVD-9 image will be available to the Digital Fanedits community on Friday, July 1.

So everyone just wanted to exploit and profit from his DVD? This guy is so out of touch with reality. Anyone would think that he invented fan edits. And only the privileged few own his DVD? ...............................................................

Sorry, i just fell off my chair laughing.

Adywan,

Have you thought about possibly applying your color correction changes to the Blu-rays once they're released? I've seen some of the discussion over at blu-ray.com but I figured this is a better place to discuss edits.

It's a possibility because i will be using these for my edits. But it all depends on what these films look like on the Blu-Rays so i wouldn't know until i have seen them

I never said the problems of 2004 would be fixed I said it would be nice if they where fixed.

Hmmm, selective memory at work again:

Because LFL has learned from their mistakes and will get it right this time around. The reason why the sound mix for ep4 and the colors where rushed is because they had to meet a dvd release date. Some don't belive that but it's a fact. This time around LFL will get it right.

Here's proof that the colors on the blu-ray release of the star wars will be fixed. http://www.mediafire.com/?2c36vh18yc9ryjc Now can you please stop saying that they won't be.

kenkraly2007 said:

No I don't. But the blu-rays of the saga will sell well desbite all of the complaining about how the transfers about the picture and sound and it will be the best the films have ever looked.

kenkraly2007 said:

I've talked about this with you for 7 years about the dvd color timing issues and sound mix problems. We know about them my opinion is all of those problems will be fixed for the blu-ray release by LFL and hopefully they will be. You have your view opinions on star wars and I have mine.

kenkraly2007 said:

The Star Wars Films will look good on blu-ray come this September. And I'm sure LFL has taken their time to get the transfers of the Special Editions of the OT right this time around and knock on wood all those errors from the 2004 dvd transfers of the OT will be fixed and correct (Sorry if I said that before) also the prequel films will look good on blu-ray I'm not worried about that.

New video posted on the official Star Wars site showing a behind the scenes look at the X-Wing and then large section of video of the fighters approaching the death Star in EPIV. . It does look like there has been some tinkering with the colour as the cyan tint seems to have gone and it seems lighter, but those damn pink/ magenta engines just make me cringe ( a bloody SE change so they would match the bodged CG shots) instead of red and the crushed blacks are still the same.. Now you can guarantee that there will still be some who say that this clip isn't what we are going to get on the Blu-Ray, well why the hell would they post an old video to promote the blu-ray so close to the release date? Not only that, if you listen to the soundtrack, that IS NOT THE 2004 MIX

Info & Ideas: ESB and ROTJ Wishlist
Time

I was thinking the other day about the scene where Han & co come across the biker scouts and that they just seem to de doing nothing apart from one playing about with some kind of tech. What if, instead of this these troopers were near a small bonfire and it looked like a small battle had recently happened. There were bodies of Ewoks lying around and these troopers were throwing the carcases on the fire (a mirror to the jawas in ANH). Not only does this give the scouts something to do which would actually make the distracted, but also show how ruthless the Empire is to the indigenous population and why the Ewoks would be so ready to help them.

^^ Ah, gotcha.

Jae I have a personal request which maybe you can accommodate.

I made this edit of Obi-Wan telling Luke "I wanted you to have this" instead of "your father wanted you to have this" and was wondering if you could pop it over that clip to see how it works?

http://www.zshare.net/audio/9330572530c4775f/

The timing hasn't' been changed so it should be okay. Plus, miraculously Obi-Wan is turned around at that exact moment so this should fit.

Do you have this in higher quality (sounds a little too compressed)? It sounds like it fits perfectly. That was the one thing i really wanted to do in ANH:R but just couldn't pull it off
