Take the twooffour Pledge (Pledge is Suspended - See Post #121) (At one time thread was about DOGS WEARING HATS)

Father Skywalker is a prick. And an annoying one at that. he is just an attention seeker who like to rile up people here. He knows the majority here are fans of the originals and feel the prequels are inferior to the OT, so he likes to rile everyone up. And he wonders why he has been banned from everywhere else.

EWW........ I aint in love with Hayden Christensen, a male actor!!!!!!!!!

As for your last paragraph, by acting, I meant the dialogue and the script and the words that they said. Maybe george Lucas just wrote a different dialogue and acting character script

BTW, I don't know the details of all of this, and I never saw Hayden Christensen (aka Hay Chris) in any other movie other than the Star Wars SW prequel trilogy of films/movies.......

lol, and there is your double standards right there coming right out of your own mouth. People in glass houses and all that.....

Then maybe you should watch his other films first before accusing people of being biased towards him. How the hell can you defend his bad acting in the prequels by saying it is down to george's script and directing when you haven't seen him act in anything else?

OK, big deal, Im obsessed with hayden christensen's handsomeness and godlike good looks......

Well, you most certainly have a huge double standard, along with the rest of our society........

and what the hell is this so called double standard i am supposed to have? Please explain???????

OK, thank you for bringing that up. I'll will explain myself.

If a girl says that another girl is pretty (which is what they do all of the time-I aint trying to be sexist or sterotypical or anything like that-they are very commonly a little bit silly and superficial and obsessed with looking "pretty" and "wearing a lotta nice awesome nice looking  make up", a lot) most people would think nothing of it......

If a guy says that another guy is handsome or good looking, many other people would say "eww, stop judging men, stop judging other guys if they're good looking or not"........

BIG DOUBLE STANDARDS ARE GOING ON HERE!!!!!!!!!

There are no double standards here at all and i don't like what you are accusing me of being. But you have been acting like an immature little girl obsessed with an actor because of his looks. You made no indication that you were male before this post was made.  So come on just come out with it and say it straight what you are accusing me of.

I mean that people think he's a shitty actor and nobody really cares how he looks.

Dont blame that on the actor himself, blame it on the lines/dialogue/acting script that Mr. George Georgey Toy-Boy Lucas gave him!!!!!!!

He is a crap actor and EVERY OTHER FILM HE HAS BEEN IN SINCE THE PREQUELS proves that. Looks do not make a good actor. You are so blinded by his looks you can't see past them to see just how crap he is. Nothing to do with crap script/ directing

even the claim that his acting is horrible/terrible/sucks/is cheesy is very subjective and biased against him as a person

don't blame him for what george lucas told him to say in the star wars prequels movies/films!!!!!!!!

So how do you explain how bad he is in all the other films that George had nothing to do with? And how is  it biased against him as a person? You seem to be so much in love with him that you feel this overwhelming need to defend his honour all the time, which is getting very tiresome. If someone's acting is good in a movie then i will say that, even if i can't stand the actor or actress in question, so there is no bias.

Now you also have to remember that George also wrote Episode 4 and directed that, yet the acting in that movie was far superior than anything hayden did in the prequels. So how do you account for that apart from the talent in the original, cheesy dialogue and all?

Ok you want DEFINITIVE PROOF that Star Wars is a SPACE FANTASY?

DIRECT FROM THE MOUTH OF LUCASFILM.

You can't get any more proof than that. So sorry, you are soooo wrong. Subject CLOSED

Yes, but that doesn't deny the science fiction elements........

Even with it coming direct from the creators of the saga you still try to convince yourself that you are correct, when in fact you are just making yourself look more and more stupid with every word ;) Or you are just one of the biggest trolls here. I wonder why so many places banned you?

Ok, other than that, read the rest of what it says.....

Stop nitpicking, star wars has all of the other space opera science fiction elements......

Fantasy is usually medieval/ancient

Science fiction is usually set during/in futuristic settings

But there are exceptions, such as futuristic fantasy stories, or ancient science fiction stories.......

What if I write a story about time travel to the past??? Science fiction or fantasy???

http://thetorchonline.com/latest/what-the-hell-is-star-wars-anyway-science-fiction-or-fantasy/

Read that and you will see that Star Wars is a space fantasy and not science fiction. Only the prequels, which don't really exist and are just a bad nightmare anyway, became more sci-fi than fantasy. Which is another reason why the prequels just don't work as Star Wars movies.

If you can find a quote where Mr. Lucas says SW is Science Fiction, you get a cookie. Otherwise, you're beating a dead Taun Taun.

I am perfectly willing to listen to opposite/different opinions. The problem is, you are not explaining your point more clearly. Please tell me your opinion on why SW is not science fiction, and why it's a fantasy story!!!!

The definition of Science-Fiction:

Science fiction is a genre of fiction dealing with imaginary but more or less plausible content such as future settings, futuristic science and technology, space travel, parallel universes, aliens, and paranormal abilities. Exploring the consequences of scientific innovations is one purpose of science fiction, making it a "literature of ideas".  Science Fiction has been used by authors and film/television program makers as a device to explore more wide ranging philosophical subjects such as identity, desire, morality and social structure etc.

Science fiction is largely based on writing rationally about alternative possible worlds or futures.  It is similar to, but differs from fantasy in that, within the context of the story, its imaginary elements are largely possible within scientifically established or scientifically postulated laws of nature (though some elements in a story might still be pure imaginative speculation).

So there. Star Wars does not fall  into that category. Another quote:

Drawing the line between science fiction and fantasy is not made any clearer by the fact that both of them can use invented worlds, non-human intelligent creatures (sometimes, in science fiction as well as fantasy, based on myth: consider C. L. Moore's Shambleau and Yvala), and amazing monsters. It is, to a large extent, authorial fiat that tells us that C. S. Lewis' Narnia books are set in a fantasy world rather than on another planet. An example of this is Star Wars, a borderline case in which a mystical power known as the Force lends a strong fantasy element to the science fiction veneer. The main difference between the two is that science fiction is largely based on established scientific theories, while science fantasy is largely implausible.

So that puts that to rest

When did The Empire Strikes Back become more highly regarded than Star Wars?

Mainly because it wasn't more of the same. I think it continued the story in a logical way. If you blow up the Death Star, you do not win for good, The Empire will come after you. It tells you what happens afterwards it isn't just Episode 4 with same characters, different villain. It is a logical continuation and I think it is the one of the greatest movies ever made. Granted, I like the first one a lot but I think this one is definitely my favorite but I guess that is just my preference.

What the hell was the point of blowing up the first death star anyways??? Why did the rebels steal the plans for it??

Not having your planet blown up seems like a fairly good reason.

I can agree with you on that, it may have very well been self defense, which in a war against evil mass-murderers, self defense is totally OK and morally good, right, and just; just think about the second world war........

However, Alderaan, and despayre (if you count the EU) were already destroyed, the galactic empire had no other plans whatsoever of using it on any other planets, ever watched episode 6, no second death star used to destroy planets!!!!!!

At that point the galactic empire was harmless......

Ermmm, except that they were just about to blow up Yavin 4  So thats one reason to blow up the first Death Star. Seriously have you even watched these movies?

You mean except for those loyal fans that supported him since 1977 and gave him his Empire through ticket and merchandising sales, only to get shafted with the suppression of the Original versions that they love.

I know this is not a place to advertise, but I have a collection of 19 mint-condition Darth Back live-action figures with accessories and sets for sale at a reasonable price. If anyone is interested, please, PM me.

Damn, i wanted one of those so bad when i was a kid. I'd heard about them but never saw one for ages. I was able to get one of the original un-produced Darth Back soap sets. I just loved the tag line on the boxes; " Wash your back with Back". I can't believe that i managed to get this thing in its original condition for just over £1 at a car boot sale. I've seen these things going for hundreds on ebay now.

What is the meaning of the title "the empire strikes back"???

It was taken from one of the early drafts of what was then known as "Episode 2". In it there was a new Sith lord that was trying to challenge Darth Vader's position. His name was Darth Back. At the climax there was to be an intergalactic boxing match. Darth vader represented the Empire and Darth Back represented himself. At the end of the match Back was beaten and Vader invited all the Imperial commanders to beat the crap out of Back, striking deadly blows. hence the original working title "The Empire Strikes Darth Back"

I know I sound like an idiot right now, but in Star Wars, a science fiction film saga, actually ignores scientific accuracy.

Star Wars is science/fantasy not science/fiction.

star wars is not a fantasy. Why Do/would U say so????

Because it's a fact.  If you know the differences between the tow genres you can easily see why Star Wars is classed as fantasy as opposed to Fiction.

Use the death star to rule the galaxy?? What?? I don't get it.... Fear was used to keep the rebels in line, not the people.....No rebels, no death stars, rebels are not good guys, they provoked the war and the destruction of planets.

"No star system will dare oppose the emperor now"

"Fear will keep the local systems in line.... Fear of this battlestation"

It was built to control the people since they had dissolved the senate, NOT built to keep the rebels in line.

Have you even seen these movies or are you just trolling? I'd say the latter because no one can be that stupid

You type this but you have been on the internet.

Such things are possible.

Trust me.

yes, i know. They are called prequel fans ;)

but seriously, this guy is just trying to get a rise out of us here. It's becoming more obvious with every post he makes. It's even spelt out in ROTJ that the Death Star is under construction and the whole surprise when it's revealed that its fully operational during the battle. So how the hell could it have destroyed any planets in the ESB time period? He's just trolling and i can bet his "who's ignoring you" list is growing every day.

Yes, but how do you know that moff tiaan jerjerrod was on it when it blew up?? Remember that the guys were evacuating on it at the ending; nothing ever confirmed whether or not grand moff tiaan jerjjerod escaped!!!!

Check the deleted scenes on the blu-ray. They were about to blow up the moon of Endor when the Death Star was destroyed, so no, he didn't escape
