Cleaning up the deleted scene of Anakin killing Shaak Ti would be helpful for me as well. Don’t worry if it’s too hard.

It’s too hard, since it was never filmed.

Are you sure? 😉 Starts at 1:30

That’s certainly a video! Which pulled a lot of their mistakes from things discovered in this forum (Luke’s “Ghost”).

ahhh…ok.i don´t know the shoe in the asteroid field…

Forget the shoe… what about that cockpit shot!

It just goes to show you how re-purposing the shots creates the jigsaw puzzle. Nice corkscrew move there of the falcon in action lol… But where does it go? I’m not opening this book someone else can.

Top tips:
is it the same length as any other shots with the start trimmed off.
does the shot minus the cockpit frame follow continuity of any other shot.
Read the shooting script for the scene
Check storyboards
look for music that has been cut (yes there is) 2 shots have become one.
Have fresh bandages after smashing your head against a wall

The cockpit shot is garbage in that video. Anyone with eyes can clearly see that isn’t the Falcon, but an asteroid. Nothing was reused there. That’s also NOT a shoe or a potato that they point to in the video.

Adywan will be painting his own official cover art, as he did with A New Hope, I believe.

Due to one of the health problems i have, it is now impossible for me to paint any more of the covers for Revisited. Unfortunately drawing and painting is something i have had to accept that i will probably never be able to do again

So…not to pull a Ronster but I’ve been dying to bring this up for quite some time now.

Adywan, I was wondering if you’ve considered introducing a slight pulsation to the lightsaber blades?

As I’m sure you’re aware the prequel lightsaber blades were pretty uniform glowsticks. Whereas the OT blades, having been rotoscoped by hand have this certain unique living feel to them. Especially in Star Wars(1977).

Starting with Star Wars Rebels Lucasfilm introduced a new stylistic change to their depiction of blades that’s more true to the original film. Here’s a Youtube video where they discuss how they achieved the effect.

It seems they’re continuing similarly to that trend in the new film. Here’s a new commercial that features pulsating lightsaber blades akin to the OT style.

I think it’s a great effect that adds some unique feeling of authenticity to them.

From what I understand of your schedule, if you’re still held up by waiting to film additional elements. Now would be the perfect time to introduce this to the edit if you haven’t considered it already. Similarly because following this you could then introduce it to SW:RHD and the rest of the Revisited saga.

Anyway, that’s my two cents. Thanks for your time! =)

The blades in ESB:R already have a pulsating effect that can be seen in this video

What Special Edition changes (if any) did people like?

In cases like these we're not talking about simple upgrades, we're talking about director's cut. Lucas and Scott couldn't achieve what they wanted back when they shot those movies; producers interference, budget limitations, underdeveloped technology, these are some of the reasons.

If you complain about SW SE, you should hate every director's cut done. The principle at the base of the SE is the same.

The big problem with that though, is that Lucas only direct one of the three. You can't call ESB & ROTJ "directors cuts". Those films were complete how the director wanted them (although Lucas threw out Marquands cut and recut it himself). It's pure bull that the additions were part of Lucas' original vision and that technical limitations at the time stopped him from doing the thing he wanted. You only have to look at most of the additions/ alterations to see that this isn't true

And to say that if you complain about the SE then you should also hate every directors cut is ridiculous. For one the SE's stopped being called that and replaced the originals as the only version.  With directors cuts you usually get the original along with it or available as a separate release. Not so with the OT.  If Lucas had just kept them as special editions and not tried to bury the originals, then you can bet the hatred towards those films wouldn't be half as bad as it is now. You could just ignore them. As it stands now you are either stuck with crappy DVDs of a non-anamorphic laserdisc master or fan made preservations/ recreations . The more Lucas refused to release the originals, restored in HD, the more the hatred towards the SE's grew

To give an idea of what is left to do, here is a screenshot of the audio track editing timeline. each marker on the timeline represents shots left to do. As you can see, the majority of shots left to do involve one of the remaining miniatures/ props etc. Mainly the hangars, wampa and HiC. The audio is approx 80% complete. So not much left to do now ( click on image to see full size view)

Back on topic...

Adywan, 005, etc. there was some talk a while ago about Ady not wanting to release ESB:R until after TFA, has this been confirmed? Is your decision final?

I mean, if it's not done by December, no problem, but if it is, why hold it? Genuinely curious if that's the case, nothing more. I'm planning on doing an OT marathon the weekend before TFA opens and would be really great to have both ANH and ESB Revisited available for it.

TFA comes out close to Christmas. Around the time of the release is, and always has been, my stopping point for doing any work on revisited. I have to plan in advance what can be achieved and completed before this time frame. Especially when building sets etc that will take up one of my rooms ( usually the dining room) . The Wampa set is one thing that can't just be moved and stored away and put back together at a later date. It has to be built, filmed and then destroyed and binned.  So, if work isn't completed before TFA is due to come out, then it won't be until the new year.

do you clean the dialogue from the deleted scenes ep4 - ep6 too?

Ideally, yes. But I don't want to get ahead of myself -- for now, it's strictly A New Hope I'm working on.

I really hope that you will do the prequels too. Having a music free centre channel would be a godsend to editors, especially me ;)

Just a small update.......

The hand for the Han in Carbonite sculpt has been cast. Just need to wait for the plaster to fully dry out and then i can finish off the sculpt. It should be dry by the weekend and i can start the casting process mid next week.

Foam and hollowfibre has been purchased, so i can start making the padded suit for the Wampa as soon as i have cleared a little work room once the HiC is out the way.

I have decided to start work on the audio mix while i have a little spare time waiting to finish the HiC. As everything that is left to do and added to the edit don't require added sound effects or changes in the timeline in length, the mix can be completed before the video side of things is complete. I've been working on it for the past few days and so far i have about 60% of the mix completed. Some sections where i have removed some of the Special Edition changes have to have the soundtrack built up from scratch , so not an easy task. If only the unaltered version of the films existed with a true 5.1 or 6.1 discreet mix, my life would be a lot simpler right now. lol

The basis for the sound mix is the 6.1 Blu-Ray mix.

I'm not too sure if i am remembering correctly, but did someone manage to do a soundbite with the Emperor saying "Luke Skywalker" ?

Also is there anyone able to remove some music or as much as possible while keeping the quality of the dialogue, from a couple of clips? I remember seeing someone's clips of the prequels with the music almost completely removed, but for the life of me i can't remember who did it

Info Wanted: Question about 1980 uncut Empire
Time

There was no other cut of ESB shown in any cinemas in 1980. Very minor differences between the 70mm and 35mm but the only different scenes were the ones shot after the 70mm was completed and shipped to the duplicating house, of the rebel fleet at the end.

This is just his memory mixing stuff up. It's the same as people swearing they saw Luke miss the first time with the grappling hook, seeing the Luke/Biggs scenes in the film etc

Going through what he claimed to have seen

RED BACTA TANK - He's remembering the Ralph McQuarrie concept painting. When it came to filming they lit the Bacta Tank with a red light from underneath. But, the added illumination from above bleached out the red under lighting. There was no red liquid clearing up at all.

Dead Tauntauns. Nope, a brief glimpse exists in the released film. A picture of 2-1B examining the Tauntaun was seen in publicity pictures and the sticker book. A few more lines were added into the marvel adaptation.

WAMPA ATTACK -  Definitely NOT in any cut. It didn't work early on and the sequence was scrapped during filming. It was never finished.

WAMPA TRAP - again it was not included

BACTA MASK - A photo of 2-1B taking off the mask existed back in 79-80. the scene was also included in the Marvel comic adaptation.

GENERAL VEERS DEATH -  This was in the novel but was cut out early in the editing stages, before any effects shots were complete. It was included in the black and white workprint. When the scene was cut the effects shots that were already completed were used for when Luke destroys the AT-AT.

LEIA & HAN ON CLOUD CITY CONVERSING AND KISSING - Again in the marvel adaptation and the novel

HAN SOLO TORTURE - He is describing exactly what happens in the movie

I'm sorry I keep posting I am not trying to hog this thread but I have a pretty concrete answer on the missing scene from the snowspeeders in the Hanger found via music cues.

This animation found in Jamie Bennings "Building Empire" @32.29 Is the missing 2.5 seconds that John williams scored the music to before seeing the AT-AT's attack.

No, it isn't. that animatic is the shot where the speeders approach that is in the movie
