Well in the carbon chamber 3P0 says "I'm not ready to die..." as chewy attacks the troopers but the line was cut short. You can hear the extra line in the "story of The Empire Strikes Back" LP. He continues to say "...on the back of a demented Wookie."

PaulisDead2221, any idea when you will be sharing this? It looks great.

If you can play them normally on a dvd player then the discs should be fine. Try ripping it to a hard drive on a different computer. If it still fails then it will eliminate the possibility of the problem lying with your pc's dvd drive

Yep, it does.

One thing i did notice though is that it is very visible where you turn off the clean plate, it really jumps out at you, also for the first few frames there is a distinct wobble on the background. i had this problem when i first attempted mine. Instead of using a complete plate you could just use the plate to mask out only the section where the saber is, that way it becomes invisible. If you are using after effects then all you have to do is create an animated mask and mask the motion of the saber blade, then the glow hides it.

Ah, yes i have seen this before. It is actually a huffyuv codec bug and always seems to be original layer specific usually the result of the initial encode from MPEG" to avi . This also happens in Adobe premier. I originally used this codec and this would happen when rendering in premier. It would randomly happen and never usually the same frame twice. I switched to the lagarith lossless codec and the problem disappeared. And it never showed up in any media player either, but it isn't a bug within vegas.

one thing that may be relevant though. did you encode the mpeg files to huffyuv using virtualdub? i just tried some footage that i had problems with in after effects but this time using DVD2AVI and the problem has disappeared, so i'm now wondering if its a bug with virtualdub.

Also i noticed something in the clip. the first lightsaber shot. Did you use my clip for that shot and overlayed your saber over the top of it?

Help In After Effects - Moving An Object Toward A Vanishing Point
Time
I'm really no expert in after effects, i've only been using it for about 4 months now, but you could try this:

add keyframes at your start and end point of your speeder animation. The first position keyframe will be the speeder offscreen . your last one will be at its destination. then create keyframes at the same points in the scale section, again first will be maximum size last will be minimum. Next highlight the keyframes in your "scale" section and click on the graph icon next to your timeline. now you can adjust the velocity of your keyframes animation. You want to slow the scale down as it hits the vanishing point so lower the velocity at the end. Most of this is trial and error to get it to look right so play about with things a bit. You could also right click on the last scale keyframe and select "keyframe assistant/ easy ease". this will do all this for you but its better to tweak the settings yourself until you get the desired result. once you have the animation settings you want then right click on the speeder layer in your timeline and select "switches/ motion blur". when adding this motion blur drag your last keyframes (which should be at the last frame of your animation sequence) for position and scale 1 fame after the last frame of the animation or the last frame ends up with no motion blur.

without playing about with the animation myself i can't be any more help with this but this should give you the basics

This could be a problem with the media used. Some recordable DVDs have been found to have a very short lifespan. Some DVd's i recorded using Ritek dye based media are now no longer readable in anything due to dye degradation and these are discs that have hardly been played and have no surface damage whatsoever. The problem with this though is that its almost impossible to recover the data because its dye based and not surface. If you visit cdfreaks they have a pretty good chart & discussion about different media types and their lifespan. I switched to Taiyo Yuden branded disks a year and a half ago and I've. never had any problems with these and they are supposed to be the best for longevity .

No, it's definitely not from Empire. that scene you mention only his wrist mechanics are exposed, his hand is intact. The pic looks like the hand has is supposed to have some sort of damage to it, which doesn't happen in ESB but in ROTJ his hand gets hit by a blaster from the rear. I've checked through ESB & ROTS and this prop isn't used in either.

Star Wars: Classic Edition 2.0 NEW from Ocpmovie (Released)
Time
It looks to me what OCP has done is just raise the gamma settings without adjusting the input black & white levels. Using just the gamma setting will bring out all the noise in the darker & some other areas. I came across this problem when i was first attempting to colour correct ANH. But i found that you only need to raise the gamma very slightly and then use the input white level to brighten without bringing out too much noise. Here's an comparison example. Here you can see that i have managed to brighten up the image without bringing out too much noise in the darker areas and is almost as bright as OCP's. i boosted the saturation on my image just to match OCP's just for this example. The original of mine has had the saturation dropped by about 20%

http://img374.imageshack.us/img374/8455/comparisonvl4.jpg

I find it is always best to do some quick renders first onto a dvd-rw and check on a few tv's to see if any problems have occured with brightening & colour correction. The problem with the 2004 DVD's is that the detail has been lost in the black areas and no amount of brightening will fix this. Its all just finding a good balance between brightness & minimal image noise.

No, it's the original remote. You're right on the saber blade though. i did track it frame by frame but it looks like the composite sliped downward towards the end. A keframe was added by mistake which changed its position. It's fixed now

cbaka,
Just received your disc of explosions today. They are perfect. Many thanks for this. This has saved a lot of work for me.

InvaderTim,
many thanks for all your hard work searching through all those Star Trek episodes. That was a great help.

so now i'm back on track with the edit

Ady, after seeing the new explosion, an idea popped into my head (that's two head poppers now) I have to tell you. What if you showed the death star beam striking the planet, but for a few seconds the planet remains in tact... then you show a reaction from leia of the planet not destroyed. Perhaps if you have a shot of her looking unnerved and confident, that could be the one used... after which it does explode, and she expresses her terror. It'd add a little suspense to the moment...

It's an interesting idea but it just wouldn't have the same impact as the planet instantly exploding. that was the main reason i decided not to use the Enterprise footage and the surface explosions that i was originally going with.

Hmmmm. Seeing this type of attitude has really put me off from following this thread. You have asked questions, posted ideas and people have responded. Then all of a sudden you get this attitude when no one posts anything for just 3 days?

Another post to provoke a response. This is your first post that made me suspicious that this was just an attention seeking thread and that nothing is really going to come out of this, but now you have posted that last comment you seem to have confirmed peoples suspicions.

Personally i think you should have purchased the tools you need for this before you start attacking people because they haven't posted replies. You have just posted ideas so far and you have no idea if they are even viable or not because you have no knowledge of using any of the tools needed, yet you seem to want daily attention in this thread?

If you are doing this because you want to do a fan edit for yourself then i wish you all the best and i will offer help if you get stuck, but if this is just an attention seeking Zigfried exercise then it becomes tiresome very quickly and people lose interest.

So if your threat to leave was a ploy to stir up people posting in your thread then maybe you should leave. But if you are serious, get the software needed, start learning it and get some shots done & posted. Then you will see that the community starts posting when they know its not just another thread like Zigfried's that following is a complete waste of time.

Thanks for the link GhostAlpha26. I have seen this site before a while ago and it does make some good reading.

The energy wave wouldn't really have been a problem in the Alderaan explosion because only the death star (which presumable had a pretty good energy shield) was nearby but Yavin IV would have been pretty hard hit if one was produced from the explosion of the death star so its definitely going in this edit.

The explosion shot is almost finished so i'm going to post the clip in a bit, probably got about another couple of hours of work left to do on it.

I have also decided not to add any extra shots, like the shots from the Enterprise episode mentioned earlier in the thread, or any surface shots of Alderaan. The destruction is going to be as quick as it is in the official releases because , originally when i intended to stretch out the destruction of Alderaan, i completely forgot about Obi-Wan's line straight after.
" I felt a great disturbance in the force... As if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.."

This indicates to me that the Destruction of Alderaan was very quick and adding the extra shot, although it would have looked pretty cool, would make that line pretty incorrect. So they're all gone. And after all, i'm not making a Lucas special edition..

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

Well i've gone though about 50 episodes of star trek so far and found only 4 decent explosions, but still got a long way to go.

I have been doing the new Alderaan explosion scene but then on Tuesday night i recorded the last ever episode of Stargate SG1 and it had a perfect planet explosion. I've now decided to use that explosion with a little modification. It looks so amazing now. It has some camera shake and it really adds to the impact of its destruction now. but this has now caused me to go down a different route that i was originally going down for the explosion. Originally i was going to eliminate the energy wave from the explosion but after seeing this new effect it actually fits in much better. I know this is probably going to be a controversial decision but it just looks so great. I probably won't be including the energy wave in the Death Star explosion though. A planet the size of Alderaan probably would produce an energy wave like that but the Death Star is a lot smaller so the explosion wouldn't be as powerful, so no energy wave. Not only that but if the Death Star had produced an energy wave of the size it is in the SE then surely it would have effected Yavin IV and caused a lot of damage.

They actually took my English lines and translated it into the other language, so even for the handful of people that may speak that language, the subtitles actually match up with what is said!

wow, thats gonna sound great. I can't wait to her the new dialogue.

Now, adywan: in suggesting these scenes, are you implying that this may actually be possible?

Yes, they may well be. i would have to do a few test when i have more spare time but they shouldn't be too difficult to do. The tricky ones would be the creation of Maul, but the droid scene i reckon i could pull off.
If we don't have Palpatine in Episode I, though, then I don't think we would even have to deal with using the name, Maul, though--I think he's the only one who uses it. However, we can add it in the subtitles for Nute, and that would be fine.

Are you guys definitely going down the subtitles route for the Nemoidians? i really think it would be cool to record new dialogue for them. there wouldn't be a lip sync issue as their mouths really don't move in sync with the dialogue anyway (especially in TPM). I never really liked the subtitle route because, in the fan edit i saw (can't remember exactly who's it was, sorry) the alien dialogue wasn't really convincing and still sounded like reversed or foreign language. Adding filters to english speaking dialogue could make them more convincing.
