STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

The model hand is exactly the same shape as it is above. it's just that at the angle it needed to be it looks different. I will post a photo of the actual model hand later when i charge up the camera batteries and it'll be the same position as in the pic above and you'll see what i mean.

i would like to hear everyone else's opinion about this is possible. Should i redo the shot or keep it as it is?

Its George circa 1976

There was no speeding up of the film involved in the Obi-Wan/ Vader fight at all. the pace was changed only by editing so slowing it down wouldn't have made it the same speed as the original. And it isn't PAL it's NTSC.

As for Ponda Baba's arm, i modelled the had from all the sources available and i kept it true to the original. This edit was just for the fans and i'm not really bothered if it confuses people when see the flipper. it is there to correct a mistake and the original hand sticks out like a sore thumb to me knowing that he had a flipper (that can be seen clearly in other shots). As for the blood, the saber cortorizes the wound so there would be no blood. here's a snapshot from the holiday special that shows his flipper, even though the colouring is different to that in ANH because of the lighting:
http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/919/aqualishsittingmf4.jpg

It was originally changed to the wolf hand because of the original flipper not being able to hold a gun and might confuse the audience but as i said it's there for the fans who know what it should look like. I might tweak it slightly for the DVD but i can't change the angle. I have to keep it at the angle it originally was due to the other elements in the shot.

and it wasn't "Lord" Darth Vader in the special edition credits so i haven't changed anything there
http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/1279/creditsoriginalim5.jpg

I knew that the changes i made wouldn't please everyone but this was originally just for me and it's exactly the way i wanted it . Oh my god i have turned into George Lucas.

I'm downloading this via torrent, but took a peek at Usenet.com after reading some of the posts earlier.

I'm tempted to join due to the extreme difference in download speed, but do all newsgroups require you to pay for the service? Any free ones out there? (Yes, I know I'm cheap...)

Well giganews are doing a 3 day free trial at the moment which allows you to download up to 10gb

Why 652 x 272 ????

Because a lot of commercial divx players will not play any xvid greater than 652 width

well its down to the last 50minutes of uploading.

Almost there....

I'd have thought 640 X 272 would be a more logical ratio.

Yeh, thats what i thought but the conversion program selected that ratio and if i changed it to 640 it would crop too much off the top & bottom. It might have something to do with the fact that the xvid is taken direct off the lossless avi master and not converted from the mpeg2. Anyway i'm not too concerned with a slightly wrong ratio for the xvid because The DVD's will be correct and that is the way i would prefer people to watch it anyway

all the rar files have now been uploaded

There are 128 parts all together, not including the par2 files, and it's on part 84 now. Reporting 2.5 hours left to go.

for those who are new to usenet i would suggest getting quickpar from here:
quickpar downlaod - freeware

install this and then once you have all the rar files & a couple of the par2 files (you probably won't need all of them so just get 2) open any one of the par2 files with quickpar and it will scan the rars for incompletes. If, for any reason it reports as incomplete then quickpar can repair the damaged files. It will tell you how many blocks you need to be able to recover if you don't have enough, so just download a few extra & open up the par file again. If you still don't have enough then repeat this until it reports that it is ready to repair, & click the repair button. once this is done you can unpack the rars without problem. There should be plenty of par2 files to reapir if needed but if anyone does have a problem i can always post some extra.

If you look 7 posts up from you, darkhelmet posted some usefull links with what you need to know.

Also, anyone that is going to torrent this then if you torrent the whole rar set as they are then anyone else that has downloaded this from usenet would be able to help seed

Just checking the XVID now. So far everything looks to be ok. You should see it starting to appear in the next hour or so. Just got to create the sample and the nfo and rar the files up and it's good to go. Its approx 1.8gb NTSC,with 5.1 AC3 . Any smaller and i just wasn't happy with the quality. plays fine on my PS3 & Sony DVD player.

Please could you upload your edit of Titanic that you did? I stupidly burnt it to bad media and now it wont play and i can't retrieve it. Pretty please. I'd be willing to make a small donation of some kind for your trouble if you could???

Thanks

I actually replied to you both times you PM'd me about this. Are your PM's turned on? i don't have a copy of the edit any more. I used Riktek media to burn the copy and it has now degraded and unless someone has a copy of this then that edit is lost forever. That is why i only use Taiyo Yuden media now. Ritek was always one of the best media to use but when they changed the dye it is unbelievably bad and i didn't know about this issue until it was too late. hell of a lot of my stuff that was backed up using RITEK is now unreadable.

Just finishing off the last few tweaks needed to the audio, the xvid is ready to have the audio track applied and should start going up in a.b.starwars in about 3 hours followed by the DVD-5 versions starting in a couple of days

Blu-ray Disc or HD-DVD?

I really can't tell if you are being sincere or sarcastic. I wouldn't, But hey, It's your money...In any case, you should look at everything that's available to you and decide for yourself. Don't be a hater, Just be happy with what you've got.

In terms of Bluray. If you steer clear of 1.0 profile you SHOULD be okay. As far as I know you can't go from 1.0 to 2.0 outside of PS3.

I know I'm probably in the minority but I really hope Bluray loses. I really can't stomach the thought of Sony being in control. But I guess we'll just see how things pan out.

Well i would recommend the PS3. In terms of picture quality the PS3 is amazing for both bluray & DVD. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to test out a couple of bluray players, a samsung and philips, and quality wise they were really inferior to the PS3. the price was slightly more than the PS3 at the time and i just couldn't justify the extra bucks for worse quality. After all not only do you get a player but also a great games console (even though the games available at the moment are pretty crappy). i also think that some of the 1.0 profile players can be upgraded to 2.0 through a firmware update.

i do have to admit that i'm not a sony lover in the slightest but bluray is winning the format war at the moment and i hope that bluray comes out on top because microsoft are pushing the HD-DVD format and i hate Microsoft hell of a lot more than Sony.

well the audio problem looks to have been solved. using Maven3D Pro to encode the AC3 file has produced 100% better results than using Vegas. The difference in clarity is amazing. it sounds just the same as the uncompressed original, and the volume is the same level too. it will be a bit quieter than the original 2004 DVD's but that is mainly due to having to lower it slightly because of all the extra elements in the mix. Just crank the volume up. So with any luck you should see the first version (probably the xvid if i can get the quality a lot better) as early as tomorrow evening

Well a spot of good news. I've just discovered that it is indeed a problem with vegas' ac3 encoding. I have just tested a problem section using Maven3D pro and the problem has gone away, but the audio is a little quieter (could be due to the wav exporting because Vegas is reporting the audio as too loud when the peaks clearly show that they are well below the threshold). I might just skip the xvid completely and go straight to the PAL & NTSC DVD-5 versions because the encoding quality of the xvid, even with a 2 disc size, is below par. But i may still do an xvid if i can get it looking better

Bad new guys, and you are all going to hate me for this. Somethings pretty screwed with the audio. For some reason the volume is fluctuating during the louder scenes. I think the problem is down to exporting the ac3 through vegas. So unfortunately until i have sorted out the audio problem i have no other choice but to delay the release. Hopefully i will have found a solution by tomorrow at the latest and have things back on track for a release the next day. Sorry
