I was curious on how much longer it will take for the DVD-9

Just asking.

Thank you.

Still working on it. I can't give a definite completion date at the moment.

Does anyone have a higher res, clearer version of this image? i do have a higher re version but it was a really bad scan and it is pretty urgent. thanks

If you live in a country that uses the PAl system, can you still watch an NTSC-dvd? Does it matter if your broadcasting system is digital or anolog (sp?)? Because I think I would want the purist edit as well, for completion's sake. Sorry if my question is stupid as I'm really ignorant about these things :)

It all depends if your TV can handle as almost all PAL DVD players will play NTSC too. If you have an LCD TV then the chances are that it can. Older style PAL TVs are a bit hit & miss. the best thing is just to try it out.

In one of the trailers there is a sneak peak at Davros...if you look closely

He's in there at about 57 secs....on the below linky

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7H2FXCNTPc

Personally, the Daleks are pretty dull. I don't get how they still turn up. Whenever they do, they claim to be the last of the Daleks or whatever, but they always come back. Maybe I missed something!!
And that Human Dalek thing last year was one of the poorer moments of what was a pretty good season.

It's not davros, it's a Sontaran. They appear in episode 4, The Sontaran Stratagem. Fan's of the older series will remember them.
There haven't been any pics leaked of Davros yet, and they are still denying that he is going to be in the new series, but the daleks do return in the series finales so it's looking more likely that he may return.

To doubleofive: Nice work on the splitscreen comparison galleries. I picked up on a lot of stuff I didn't even realize was changed. Damn, Ady. Just, damn... :)

To Adywan: The purist version sounds cool. I'm especially curious to see how the Vader duel plays out sans music.

Since your TIE approach is being nixed, I'm assuming the classic shot from the DVD will be used in its stead, or something different?

No, it's still the same approach but shortened to match the timing of the original shot & the original cue has been re-added.

It's going up in a.b.starwars now. should take about 12 hours to complete

But the Purist version thing was posted TODAY. His big April Fools Joke was on the Empire thread where he said he wasn't going to do Empire. I think this one is real.

Time stamp says yesterday, forty-seven minutes prior to midnight.

it all depends on what timezone you have OT.com set to. My timezone is GMT and the announcement about the Purist edition was actually posted on April 2, 2008 at 7:13 AM. Nothing has been posted in a.b.starwars yet because i did say later tonight and its still only 10.30 here. I'm just rendering the DVD now so it should start to show on a.b.starwars in the next hour or so, so this one isn't an April fools.

Well i have decided to take a break from the DVD-9's at the moment. Getting a bit burn out doing the special features and painting the cover is taking a lot longer than i first thought. I just didn't like my first design so i have started from scratch.

Anyway i have decided to do a NTSC DVD-5 only "Purist" edition of Revisited. There will be a few differences to the original version:

Obi-Wan's hut scene is returned to the original edit
No Darth Vader's theme in the movie
No music during the conference scene
No music during the lightsaber duel, original music cue restored.
No extended Tie fighter Approach during the Death Star battle, the pacing will be returned to its original state.

There will be no menus or subtitles on the DVD or any extras.

I noticed a continuity error between images 141 and 142 in part 1 of the visual comparison. You forgot to recolour the green display! XD Mistakes are impossible when you look at ady's works. Anyways, good luck with the DVD9 and good luck 005 working with TESB.

Not sure what you mean because the display is coloured green in both shots.

And today's date is.......................

Dang it HotRod, I would have really freaked out too.

Of course, if he is serious, if he'll give me his copy of Premiere, I'll take over.

;-)

I don't use premier, i use After effects & Sony Vegas. Luckily it's only really the Emperor that has had some work done to it so there wouldn't be much to pass on apart from all my notes about what i was going to change/ fix. Whoever takes over then i would want them to stick to my original vision so i would probably still stay onboard but only as a consultant.

The whole 'Solo and his jacket' thing in Empire really pissed me off. It's not a bloody jacket. It's just shadows. I don't care if it's been 'fixed' in the DVD, it wasn't wrong in the first place.
There's even behind the scenes footage showing Ford getting ready for his shot. No jacket there....just a load of fanboy moaning for the sake of moaning bullshit.

Ok...rant over!!!:)

Yeh, i know what you mean. It's clearly his shirt in the Behind the scenes footage and once they setup the lighting the shirt turns dark and is clearly not his jacket.

but what really baffles me is why lucasfilm decided to fix that for the DVD but didn't do some of the more glaring errors?

Hey Ady, I'm pretty much done with all the screens I could get. I think I got everything but the Falcon vs TIEs and the entire Death Star Battle. If you could fill in those blanks when you can, we'll have a pretty comprehensive comparison.

There's actually quite a few more than i first thought. i missed a load when doing the trivia track. its only when i was doing the split screen captures that i noticed a load. I'm up to Ben's death at the moment and i have 149 changes

I would personally prefer the old Boba Fett voice, mainly for two reasons:

1. the line delivary was better

2. the voice was more intimidating, fitting a feared bounty hunter

It's really easy to explain too: a voice modulator built into the helmet to make himself more frightening, to build on his reputation and such.

Remember when Leia was disguised as a bounty hunter in Return of the Jedi? To say that her voice then was very different from her own nautural voice is an understatement.

My whole reasoning for returning to the original voice. thank you.

With some saying that it should remain as it does in the 2004 DVD version because it ties into the PT much better then you seem to forget that i will be doing the PT too and the voice will be changed in that to resemble the original ESB Wingreen voice. ANH is was the only film in the OT Revisited saga that i changed anything to tie in with the PT (and that was only really visuals). The other two will not be as i would prefer to alter things in the PT to match the OT now.

Part 1 of my Star Wars Revisited Visual Comparison is up. This goes from the Opening Logos to Obi-Wan's Hut.

I did the best I could to match frame for frame. It takes a while when your only tool is an old version of PowerDVD, with Photoshop to put them together.

Ady, let me know if I missed a shot you want to highlight, or if my descriptions could be more descriptive.

Also, if anyone wants to host the photos off of Flikr and make them look more professional, let me know and I'll send you the files.

I should be able to help out if you give me a couple of days. I can quite easily do split screen snaphots in my video editing program so it would take a lot less time. I'll send them to you, with descriptions, once they're done. Nice idea by the way. well done.

Nice covers too. just had a look at ANH. I wonder if anyone has a higher res scan of the outer logo part that is from the action figure cards. i think that would really benefit the covers because the scan you have looks a bit blurry. apart from that they look great
