I don't remember if this had been addressed yet, but is the transparency of the interior shots of the speeders being fixed?

Yes i am going to attempt to fix that. I also hate the way that ILM lied about fixing those shots for the SE in the Making of docs. I don't know how the hell i'm going to do some because the actors are also transparent in the speeders in some shots too. But that problem isn't just isolated to the Hoth battle. I've spotted some ships being transparent in space, also some of the Falcon cockpit shots amongst others. I have fixed one already (well 90% fixed so far) and that it the shot of the Falcons cockpit as they leave the Hoth Hangar (the side view shot). You can see the hangar walls through the cockpit walls & the actors. I think ILM went a bit mad on the idea of transparency to hide matte lines. But why did they lie and say they fixed it when they clearly didn't? who knows. Even the interior speeder cockpit shot they show in the making of as the speeder swoops down between the AT-AT's legs that they said they had fixed is clearly still transparent.

Hello there! I'm new here, though I'm a Star Wars' fan from a long time and I read this forum (and follow the fans' creations) from year.... but (as my english prove it) I'm from the "outer rim" territories of the world :\ and until some time ago were not so simple to have a conversation in english (I hope for the present... :D )
Anyway, I've finished this evening to rewatch the entire saga, and this time with Ady's ANH:R, instead of the uncle George's version: it's the ANH I've ever wanted to see, the best version of all!!!!

And about TESB:R... I agree with almost your choices... but you really want to change the voice of Boba and shortening his role in ESB? IMHO, the voice of Temuera Morrison for Boba it's a logical choice and despite Bulloch's voice was the classic one, the new voice fit the saga together.

And another thing, have you thought to reintroduce the two music tracks that were cut from the theatrical release and never reinserted, "The Training Of A Jedi Knight" and "Darth Vader's trap"?

...some sample of that are even on yuotube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPdeyXjTY-s
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3zuGTFh6Lw

Well welcome to the forums.

I think a few people have misunderstood my intentions for Boba Fett. I will not be cutting any of his role in ESB. Its ROTJ that i will be cutting. And Jango Fetts voice will be altered when i get to the Prequels to sound closer to the original Fett voice, so no continuity problems there at all.

I don't think i'll be adding any music. There is a small cue that was removed from the special editions when han is frozen that i will be re-inserting, but at the moment i can't see me adding anything else that wasn't there in the first place. Although after watching the first clip i do like the original music cue when the TIE bombers appear but the rest of the scene is better without any.

Ok clues to the whereabouts of the easter eggs.

1. in the place where Americans call trash reside you must turn left when you reach commander Riker of the Enterprise to meet the group of judges at the talent show. Here lies you destiny

2. when you are in that special place where they fly-by night, you discover the secret where to where the unwanted are kept. You must resist temptation and right your wrongs to find the find the one who dons the combined spectrum of light

Pretty easy really. Have fun. the answers on Tuesday evening

Ady, will there be any chance of you releasing a purely color corrected version of ESB? I know you couldnt with ANHR but I thought it would be nice to have an ESB color corrected version and I think it would be a great help to the community for anyone planning to do future projects with the movie.

I'm not sure about this. the problem is that i do a lot of the colour tweaking later in the process when i'm doing FX work and have got the editing done. I don't bother doing proper colour correction to any of the space shots or the shots that are full FX only until that stage. So the colour would be all over the place until then.

I'm currently DL the DVD9.iso and at 85% complete. So is this .ISO corrupt too? Is the fix the same as before?

Thanks, Adywan.

I'm waiting for someone to get back to me who said that they are having the same problems as the unpacked version, but so far it now seems that this torrent is the working version

WTF! You've got to be kidding me! I'm at 85% on the second attempt. I'm about to give up on the DVD9!! :(

I guess you got the torrent too. Don't give up because the fix does work 100%. If you give some details of what is going wrong with your attempts then i will be able to walk you through it

EDIT: sorry, i thought you meant you were at 85% at the second attempt of the fix. Don't give up on the ISO on Demonoid , it seems to be the working version, just a few reports off people that may be getting it confused with the unpacked version. Even if it is faulty then the fix will still apply so you will ahve a working copy no matter what

Fix worked! It plays perfectly on my ps3, panasonic DMR50, and PC... but the menu locks up on my Toshiba HD A2.

Thats a fault with the Toshiba players and the NTSC versions. The same problem was reported with the NTSC DVD-5 version. After doing a lot of searching last time it seems that its to do with the firmware (some reporting that it happens on commercial DVD's & some HD-DVD's too) but don't expect Toshiba to fix it now HD-DVD is dead

I dont have nero. I want to burn with DD. I want to create an ISO from the Video_TS folder. I usually use shrink, but when I try to open the the Video TS folder, it says "Invalid data in the file VTS_01_0.VOB"

Any ideas?

There was a fault with the DVD torrent that was posted but if you look a few pages back there has been a fix. Just follow the instructions. what's DD by the way? Also don't use shrink to create the ISO if you are going to burn it to a dual layer disc. DVD shrink can screw up the layer breaks and navigation. Use Pgcedit (full instructions are in the fix a few pages back. )

One thing i have to say> please, to anyone that posts a torrent of my releases in the future, release it untouched ie. the original ISO. I'm very grateful for everyone that makes torrents from my usenent releases but just by using the original untouched version i post will stop this type of thing from happening in the future

Negative1 there is a report that the newest ISO torrent you have put up on demonoid has the same problem. Nothing confirmed yet though and may just be people getting confused with the older torrent

I guess the usenet lovers won their case. So do you still think torrents are better? lol [just joking]

i have had a few very angry emails off people who that i have wasted days of their time downloading only to have a unusable DVD that they can't watch. This was not through any fault of mine so please no more emails. I have provided a fix and it is confirmed to work 100%.

i will say though that if you get any reported errors when getting to the first Pgcedit stage then you have done something wrong. Check your VIDEO_TS folder and make sure that there are no files with a .1 extension. if there are delete them and run through pgcedit again

When I used pgcedit.exe to create the ISO, it reported that I had to remove the 2 following files before the ISO could be created:
VIDEO_TS.BUP.1
VIDEO_TS.IFO.1

Are these files needed for the DVD?

That's weird. The .1 extension at the end makes them redundant files. they shouldn't have even been there because quickpar should have deleted those files. I guess in the new version you have to set it to delete the back-up broken files after repair is complete. Sorry, i didn't know about that

But to make sure if anyone has applied the fix and you have any files with a .1 extension after repair then you need to delete those files before running it through pgcedit or burning

And speaking of Blu-Ray, it'll be a few years yet before DVD starts to die out, but are you going to do this one all in hi-def now that it's out there and just down-convert to make a DVD version, Adywan? (that way if Lucasfilm does drop the ball, we'll still have a hi-def version of ESB:R when the time comes)

No Hi-Def versions i'm afraid. With all the work that has to go into this (especially the amount of layers & masks involved in just the colour correction) my PC would just grind to a halt. i did a 1080p test of a 1 minute scene that involved different layers of colour correction ( about 13) and It was going to take almost 30 hours to render just that scene. So there is no way i'm going to do any Hi-Def versions

Another nice 'colour-corrected' preview shot Adywan. Great to see how brown Yoda's robes will be again! Please keep these snippets coming over the next few months.

I sure wonder how you will be able to make the whole 'Asteroid Chase' sequence colour look....as the terribly darkened 2004 SE version is so far removed from the nice GOUT colouration to begin with. Good luck.

Yeh the asteroids chase is horrendous for the colouring. it looks like its a recoloured black & white image now. I don't know how the hell i'm going to be able to get that to look right. there are no tones in that at all. tweak one colour and the rest go with it.

There is something that i have noticed about the 2004 DVD though that's a bit weird. There are some shots that don't have the blue tint and are actually the correct colour. It almost looks like the film was cut into loads of different sections and then colour corrected by a load of different people without any communication to achieve a balance. Its the worse colour job i have ever seen

Is the usenet version from approx. 15 days ago ok? According to my BT client it has the same checksum as the ISO file from the most recent torrent...

There was also something on usenet called "ntsc fix for imgburn.rar" which is a totally different size compared to "VIDEO_TS_files_fixed.rar" from the most recent torrent.

Not really sure what to do with these different fixes at this point.

PS- Anyone have a demonoid invite pretty please? I can access the new torrents, but not the old ones. Strange policy.

- Guiser

if you have the version from usenet then your file is fine. Just burn the iso with nero or your burning software and it will play fine. the "ntsc fix for imgburn.rar" posted to usenet was a fix for people having problems burning it with imgburn and nothing more. The ohter files you mentioned were for an unpacked dvd torrent, that has now been deleted. the new ISO torrent is the one from usenet i think.

I'm planning on using my own burning program when I do burn, but Imgburn isn't on my torrented copy. Now THAT doesn't make sense.

I've got a "star.wars.IV.revisited..NTSC.DVD-9. .NFO" but no Imgburn.

Damn. I put that in the DVD-ROM folder for a reason. Anyway it free to download here:
IMGBURN

Also, for whoever hasn't been able to find the Easter Eggs yet i will post a few clues at the weekend

Ok heres the correct fix (only slightly different way of going round it). ONLY NEEDED FOR THE TORRENT DOWLOAD:

first make sure you have added the NTSC fix files from the DVD-ROM folder into your VIDEO_TS folder then download this file:
EXTRA PAR2 FILE
once downloaded unpack the rar file and put the file it contains into the VIDEO_TS folder .

now right click on the par2 file in the VIDEO_TS folder and select "open with.." and select "quickpar" (you may have to browse if it isn't in the list". let it scan all the files and say "ready to repair using...." . Click on "Repair" and sit back. the repair will take a while depending on your setup. Once its has finished repairing then close the program and make sure you take any par2 files out of the VIDEO_TS folder but DON'T put them in your DVD folder. place them elsewhere on your PC. Also make sure you delete any files that have a .1 extension in the VIDEO_TS folder too.

Now you need Pcgedit. install pcgedit if you haven't already got it. open it and select "file> open DVD" and select the VIDEO_TS folder that you have added the fix to. now pgcedit will start scanning the disc and a new box pops up. don't do anything until you see the "close" button that will appear when the scan is done.
Once this is done goto "file>BURN DVD/ CREATE ISO" and select that. A new box will pop up saying "DVD saved ok". Click ok.
Now in the next box that appears make sure DL media type is selected as "Double layer DVD+R". Goto "output ISO" and select where you want the ISO file to be stored ready for burning later. Just name the "volume label" star wars 4" or anything you want.
once you have done this click "ok"
Another small box will pop up telling you there are other folder and if you want to burn them. Just click "yes"
Next another box will appear. This is the layer break box. In the top section of the box "cell 28" should be highlighted blue. If one of the others is highlighted just click on the line containing "cell 28" then click "OK"

Your new ISO will be created

You can then burn the ISO image file with Imgburn (best one to use for windows users and it is included in the DVD-ROM folder. Not sure if there is a mac version or the version in the folder works an MAC) or nero or similar

if you use imgburn make sure that when the layer break box pops up when you go to burn the disc you highlight the layer break and make sure that "don't update IFO's" (it says something like that but can't remember) box is ticked and burn

ALL should be fine now and i updated the last fix post in case it caused any confusion. If you get any errors while creating the ISO with pgcedit then you ahve done something wrong in the first steps.

EDIT: ok i have a way of checking the files. First you need to apply the fix for the NTSC. just drag the files (in the fix folder in the DVD-rom) into the VIDEO_TS folder and overwrite the original files.

once you have done this you need to download and install QUICKPAR (unfortunately this this prog is windows only). Mac users download MACPAR Deluxe
once installed download THIS file and place it into the VIDEO_TS folder. Open Quickpar (or macpar)and load the par2 file. This will now scan the files and report any errors. Once the scan is complete if you can let me know the results then i can post the files to fix it

Interesting. I'm not a torrenter [?], but I decided to run QuickPar just for fun anyway. I applied the fix last week, and ImgBurn certainly does create a workable disc with the layer break where it's supposed to be, but I wanted the assurance.

And I've got errors in VIDEO_TS.BUP and VIDEO_TS.IFO.

This being downloaded straight from a.b.sw and the fix applied immediately.

So I'll be paying attention for fixes to the torrented version!

(Thanks, Adywan, for your immense patience with the many of us...!)

was this tested on your unpacked DVD before it was run in PCGedit to create your fixed ISO because those 2 files will be slightly different before its run in that program to create the ISO anyway.

Good to hear that the one i posted and with the fix applied it all work ok. This fix is just for the torrents not the one off newsgroups
