STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

The thing with dagobah is that for a while i was thinking about changing the planet to the one we see in ROTS (deleted scene). But then i realised something. The whole atmosphere is messing about with Luke's sensors and when he enters the atmosphere all his X-Wings controls die on him. He is out of control. Now if the cloud cover wasn't all over like is stands now why wouldn't Luke just head for a calmer area where there is no cloud? Yoda chose that planet for a reason. We see it in the ROTS deleted scene when Yoda arrives there and its got hardly any cloud cover. Now many years later we see it again and its got a turbulent atmosphere. maybe Yoda had something to do with that so he couldn't be found. I don't think that making it look more like it does in ROTS is the right way to go. Changing the planet to show more green would really make Luke look a dumb shit for heading down through a cloud covered area when he could have easily head towards the safer option.

Is it simple software to use? Or is there a few things you have to do to get the quality you were talking about?

yeh its pretty simple. You can use presets (i have a few if you need them).

I made a mpeg2 throgh After Effects (Don't have procoder yet), and i tried to author the DVD with DVD Architect... Is this a bad program to use? It says the file is too big to fit on a DL DVD.

I'm not to keen on after Effects mpeg rendering. Its always best to convert your source to a lossless avi codec (like lagaryth) to do any editing and then export using the same codec. this way you don't lose any quality between renders. The use an external MPEG encoder to do the final render. I used DVD Architect to do my Revisited DVDs. It sounds like you have the bitrate too high when exporting

Well the ban was lifted. It seems like it was just down to a mistake. they haven't altered anything i posted so all is good once again.

Ok here's a very short clip of the approach to dagobah. Again its a split screen but this time it is a completed scene with tweaked FX, and an attempt to sort out the horrible re-colour job ILM did on R2's dome.

unny stuff there ladyferry

Well TFN can go f**k themselves. I have just got banned with no reason even given. I did nothing over at those boards apart from defending someone who didn't like my edit and was being attacked for saying he didn't. I wasn't aggressive in any manor. Now they're trying to make out that i'm not adywan but in fact the guy who started the argument

The mods there can stick their pathetic site so far up their arse that they'll be able to clean their teeth with it.

Adywan,

Format : x264
Source : HDTV
Resolution : 1280x544 6589 kbit/s
Audio : AC3 5.1 384 kbit/s English
Subtitles : English

Is this your next AVCHD release or made by someone else?
Just wanted to ask, because I would prefer your colour-corrected release and
would rather wait if it is not.

No. i haven't done jedi yet and that one is 720p and mine will all be 1080p. Its going to be early next year before the next release

Lots of interesting updates from you recently Adywan.

Although you posted that any new Wampa head model (!) would be shot in the same way as the original's first appearance (seen here at top), I get the feeling that you might be considering copying the whole look of the last original appearance (seen here at bottom).

I'd like to agree with those who seem to far prefer the look of the first appearance Wampa, rather than the brief one with the sticky-up ears and the smooth-looking, wide horns of the last appearance.

If you do a first appearance with horns, I hope you will consider using the excellent-looking first design with another go at added horns by you, rather than copying the last design.

No, no. The last shot is one that i want to get rid of. The wampa in that shot looks too cutesy. The model, if i even make it, will be closer to the first shot & the SE Wampa

The Clone Wars (2008 animated tv series) - a general discussion thread
Time

Well i have to say that the movie was definitely more like a pilot episode and a really bad one at that. I hated that thing and will never be able to bring myself to watch it ever again (the first ever star wars related thing that i will ever only see once. Even the holiday special i've been able to watch more than once....just.) . I thought that this was what we had in store for the TV series the same as you vaderisnothayden. But i was wrong. They almost seem two separate entities. I'm almost ashamed to say it but i'm really enjoying the TV series. yeh there have been a couple of duff episodes and the recent jar jar one wanted me to reach for the sick bag, but there are some great stories coming out of it. It seems to be acknowledging the OT hell of a lot more than the PT ever did. I never usually judge a TV series on its pilot but this time i did and i admit i was wrong to do so. Hell just look at the original pilot for Star Trek, "the cage". that was a total piece of shit and a completely different tone than the series would become. And now that Tv series is considered a classic.

It does make me laugh me how people can say something is shit before they have even seen it

Well hopefully blu-ray will be the standard format in 5 years. My point is that it might not be that interesting watching DVDs by that time.

Ady:

Why not doin empire from the HD broadcast? Was is to hard editing those?

I am using the HD broadcast version as a source. it was just impossible to do Revisited in HD because not only do i need to use SD footage but also the FX work and rendering times was just horrendous, even with a quad core pentium. But the picture will still be sharper than the 2004 dvds with using the HD sources. I'l post some screenshots at some point to show just how different the picture will be.

Monroville, you have the plan of the command centre totally wrong. Here is the correct plan. As you can see that the flip shot(which is also reversed as you can see when leia turns her head. it looks unnatural) was done for a reason.

So the only fix needed for that shot is to swap the 2 guys she is standing by so it doesn't look like a flip shot

As for the stardestroyers i won't be changing their colour to match the Executor. The stardestroyers have never had a blue tint to them. If you look at the OUT you'll see that the stardestroyers colouring is now correct.

And i have mentioned before that i won't be adding any form of red tint to Veers AT-AT cockpit. it is red in 1 shot only. All other shots the red tint does not exist. So I'll be removing the red cockpit from that single shot.

if there are enough blocks in the par files it will rebuild the missing rar files. I haven't used newsrover but isn't there a way to download the incomplete rar files? I use newzbin pro and even if the file is incomplete you can download them so there are less blocks to repair with the par files

Let me start off by giving huge thanks to Adywan for working to set the trilogy right again with these releases.

I've been trying to get ANH off Usenet (I'll admit to being a near-complete Usenet newbie), but I keep running into issues with parts 59 and 61 being incomplete. (Not corrupt, just missing messages making me unable to combine the messages) - Just wondering if anyone else has run into this.

Just download all the par2 files that are posted with it . You'll need quickpar (just google it, it's free). once you've installed quickpar open any one of the par2 files and it will scan all the rar files. If there are any incompletes, and you have enough par2's, just click "repair" after the scan and it will repair the incomplete files.

So, it's completely understandable Adywan if you don't care to influence your edits with these new stories, but don't miss them yourself as a Star Wars fan.

No, i just mean that the EU doesn't exist purely for the Revisited edits. I've always been interested in all things outside of the movies and i'm quite enjoying the clone wars tv series (apart from the bloody jar-jar episode) even though i hated the movie and will never watch that ever again

Monroville said:

PLEASE don't do a new head! If the first shot has to have horns, that's perfectly okay, just please keep that first shot.

Well the shot would be recreated as close to the original as possible if i did do a new head. It would just be a way to make the wampa look more uniform and would look much better than adding horns digitally

Well what i consider canon is what is in the OUT movies. those are what the canon for the PT should based upon and not the other way around. Influences from books, spin-off TV shows and movies just won't have any bearing on the Revisited edits. Just because GL has something to do with a show or movie doesn't mean that it should have anything to do with the Revisited canon. If i were to include the clone wars then shouldn't i also include the holiday special & Ewok movies. does that mean that the Ewoks should speak now? Too many things are now contradicting the OT but not in my edits.

When i first planned on doing the saga i wanted to bring the saga together as a whole and not have the PT ruin many of the surprises in the OT, namely Leia being Lukes sister and Vader being Lukes father. I want them to be able to be watched in chronological order. So in ROTS you will not have Anakin named as Vader or even see him don the costume. The last we see of Anakin is being led away in the life support chamber after it leaves the shuttle. Leia will not be named either. Palpatine has Maul, Dooku & Grievous in the PT, so when we see Vader in ANH we will just think that he's just another henchman. We will hear mention of Vader in ROTS but not connected to Anakin. And also the problem with Leia remembering her real mother but Padme dies in ROTS will be fixed in the PT, so no changes are needed in ROTJ.

There will be probably more work done on the PT than in the Revisited OT. I have so many ideas for the PT but a lot of new FX need to be done to achieve this. I'm hoping that a new version of TPM is released before i get to that movie with the new CG Yoda because the abomination that is the PT puppet Yoda just cannot exist in my edit. I'm even thinking of building my own mechanical puppet Yoda to replace the one in that movie. I know i can do it. I'm going to have to get myself a HD video camera to achieve most of wehat i want to do with not only the PT, but some work on ESB & ROTJ. The reason i dropped the idea of using models for some new FX work was only down to the fact that my video camera is just complete crap in quality, but having tested a couple of the £400 1080p HD cameras this is now once again a very strong possibility. It's going to cost me a fortune to do all this but its probably the only way i can do the versions i really want to do.

Now Needa's shuttle won't be a Lambda class shuttle in ESB, but it won't be the box one that exists in the movie now. I'm going to design a new shuttle that is similar design to the Lambda. This will either be built as a physical model or CG depending is i can film it as a real element or not in time. I'm also thinking of then using the same design for the Tydirium in ROTJ and have the Lambda class used only for dignitaries like Vader. The Tydirium is supposed to be transporting cargo and technical crew so why would the be using such an important ship? Vader had his own prototype TIE in ANH and i want him to have his own shuttle in ROTJ.

Monroville said:

I know this has been beaten to death, but wouldn't it be easier just to remove the horns from the later "inside the cave" shot
and have the wampa keep the 1st image appearance? Those horns just don't work!

Removing the horns from the later Wampa is not something i want to do. The wampa has always had horns and to me it should do. The horns in the clip you posted screenshots from was in HD and therefore hard to use an SD image to look any good at that res. It was also only a WIP. I might even build a new Wampa head for those shots anyway. It might be easier. lol

And the X-wing that disappears at the end, i noticed that when i was doing the colour correction. I though ILM was supposed to have fixed these types of FX gaffes but the whole SE just seemed to me to be a half-assed job

I just went back and watched the last shot frame-by-frame and don't see any ship disappearing. Where is it?

Adywan.

just another technical question:

Did you use ImgBurn to create the ISO-file?

If so, did you have to specify a layerbreak-point in ImgBurn? When I want to create an image of a normal DVD, I have to specify where the layerbreak shall be but when I create a image as UDF ImgBurn doesn't ask for the layerbreak-point.

I deleted your image after burning and I'd like to create a new image...

No, imgburn did that automatically. If you want to create a new image from the disc you burned just use the "create image file from disc" function in imgburn. It will make a 1:1 copy to an iso with the layer break intact

the rar files shouldn't have disappeared after using quickpar to check them. The par files are only there to check that all files have downloaded correctly and to repair any files if necessary. You don't need to try and unpack them. The ISO file is under 8.35GB and packed up the ISO does only report as 7.86Gb. After quickpar reported that everything was ok al you needed to do was unpack the rar files to get the ISO & mds files
