Well i did suggest that you went with giganews and you could have had a had 10gb limit but you went with usenext? But i have just looked at usenext's free trial and there isn't a limit at all as it explains here at the trial sign up page (which you would ahve had to ahve seen

UseNEXT free trial

You get 3gb high speed and unlimited at 1mbs so you can still download the files you need. If you want full speed then just pay for one month unlimited with giganews , which is cheaper than usenext and has a 240 day retention and you'd be able to get all the ones you are looking for and more. Its only $24 As to buying any of the edits on ebay that is seriously frowned upon by editors. We do it for free and some little asshole sells them on ebay. Don't ever buy a fan created DVD off ebay.

Hello everybody - I apologize for my ignorance, but I am new to the forums. I have been searching for unreleased Star Wars features, and came across this site. RowMan's bonus discs to each of the original trilogy films seem to be exactly what I'm looking for. I'm having trouble locating the downloads, though. I need a registration to access myspleen, which I don't have. (I'm not even sure if these are on myspleen, I just saw some links to it in the posts). It is also available on Usenet, but I would prefer to avoid having to pay for a membership. Is there anyway I could just get a torrent? Or is there another way?

you could use the giganews usenet free trial. Its just been increased from 3 to 14 days and you'd be able to get the complete rowman set

So, I've been keeping an archive of all of the ESBR previews on my thumb drive, but I started keeping them too late to have the original teaser or the date of release for the revised version with the new Emperor.  Can anyone help with finding the original teaser, when it was released, and when the revised version was?

Thanks.

Here you go;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHetd-0etck

I have all the videos from start till now;

http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=4DB0EA9A58709519

Thanks, ladyferry, but I was looking for the original AVI of the original version that was released before the ANHR DVD.

Also, I can extract the audio from the AT&T website I posted earlier, so I'll post them to my GooglePage as I get them edited.  I have to edit them because you can hear them rattling their papers around in the booth.  Incredible.

No, please don't edit them. i think its really cool that the recordings are so raw

Not sure if anyone's interested in this at all but last week i did an interview for impradio.com which was transmitted Saturday on their live 100th show. Its about 20 minutes long and i sound like shit because i've got a cold. It was a totally surreal experience being interviewed though plus i'd been up all night working on revisited so i was a bit groggy. lol You can tell that from my stupid verbal mistake calling fanedit.org "faneditor.org". I was half asleep and felt like shit when i was doing it. oh well.

Just FYI, the site is ihnradio.com

And it was great having you Ady.  Hope that when Empire is complete, you will come back on!

OOPS. Sorry guys. I don't know why the hell i got that wrong. I think my brain is fried, especially in the same post as i'm saying i got the name of fanedit.org wrong.

please tell me i didn't just watch that and that it was all just a bad dream.  I'm soooo not going to do anything like that for ROTJ:R

Doubleofive, that's some pretty cool sounds there. You can hear just how raw they are. If only we could get all the dialogue for the PT as clean as that it would make my life much easier when i get to them. But god, over $2 per audio clip.

Not the cockpit thing again. Tinting the windows red would mean i would have to tint the inside of the cockpit red too. natural light is lighting up the inside of the cockpit which means that inside would have to have the red tint too or it would be totally unnatural, which i'm not prepared to do just because of one shot and only one AT-AT has a red tinted cockpit. It is a totally unnecessary change.

Giving the Taun Tauns ears movement could well be an impossible task and keep it looking real at the same time. I'll give it a go but i'm not promising anything

Going a bit off topic here but i was watching ROTJ in HD tonight and i had always though that the Coruscant footage was people celebrating and pulling down the statue. i always though where the hell are the imperials and that the celebrations were too soon. But i was wrong. Upon closer inspection the crowd at the front aren't celebrating at all but are in fact a mob crowd attacking a stormtrooper. Ben Burtt totally screwed up the sound FX on this one. Should have been the sound of an angry mob and not a celebration.

Midichlorians took away all the mysticism that the force once had before the PT. Thanks to that damn saga people now think of the force on a completely different level. It didn't need to be bloody microscopic lifeforms that give people the power to use the force.  In the OT the force had a spiritual and religious nature about it whereas the PT took away all that and replaced it with a scientific explanation. Some people had the ability to use the force while others didn't. Its the same in every day life here. But that didn't need to be explained away as the ones that could use the force had a higher midibloodychlorian count. The OT had the spiritualism aspect and the PT need to be changed to reflect that. There will be no midichlorians in the PT revisited saga. All you have to do is remember Yodas speech about the force in ESB. No midichlorians

For my ally is the Force. And a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. It's energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we... not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you. Here, between you...me...the tree...the rock...everywhere! Yes, even between this land and the ship!

Can you imagine that same speech in the PT?

For my ally is the Force. And a powerful ally it is. Create it and make it grow the midichlorians do. Their energy inside us it is. Symbiotic beings are we... this crude matter we are not. Embrace your inner midichlorians you must. Here, between you...me...the tree...the rock...everywhere! Yes, even between this land and the ship!

I agree that the technology seems light years ahead of what we see in the OT. GL should have shown how the clone wars caused the shift in technology and that times became hard and things technologically wise had come to a standstill. Things in ROTS should have had the "lived in" look that they did in the OT. The clone wars would have used a lot of resources and money and the Empire was starting to take a grip. The end shot in ROTS shouldn't have shown the Death Star being created but instead a vast shipyard of the Imperial fleet being built (which it will do in my edit). So all available money was being ploughed into creating the Empire. The whole ending of that movie was just too rushed to tie up all the loose ends

the idea of 3po not appearing til ROTS doesn't bug me, but how will you be able to pull that off with all the scenes he's appeared in?

When I first heard Anakin built (actually rebuilt) C-3PO I cringed because it seemed contrived, but that was only because I saw the OT first, if I had seen Episode 1 first it would not seem so small and contrived, it works if you watch them from 1-6 for the first time. It's also symbolic of what Anakin largely becomes. The droids are Anakin and Padme's and they are left with the Organas and Captain Antilles at the end of EP3. Why is that so bad, or hard for some people?

Owen not recognizing 3PO is a no-brainer, it's 22 years since he's seen him, C3PO is gold plated, a common looking droid and not the grungy thing he was 22 years prior. Owen seems to regard droids as only appliances anyway, and never even is told 3PO's name by the time he dies a day or two later in ANH.

It all just seems a bit too convenient. 3PO does or says nothing important in all of the PT. He could probably be painted out frame by frame. I would however like to see 3PO in all three movies. Just have him property of Padme throughout the PT, that way some of his interactions with R2 could be preserved.

But, like I said, would it still seem so convenient if you had not seen the OT first?

On the EU issue, it's strange to me why EU doesn't count and carries no weight of truth to some people, but yet a fanedit does.

Sorry to be a git about it but this thread is really about ESB:R, other threads are out there for other projects (I'm as guilty as anyone of going a bit OT here but it would be a shame if this thread became bogged down in discussions which could and should take place somewhere else).

I think I mentioned elsewhere but for ESB I am rather keen to get rid of that pointless tiny shot of Han on his Tauntaun as he is talking to Luke just before the Wampa attack.

We hear him speaking, so we don't need to see him and it is a really bad special effects shot.

It could be replaced if the sound mix can't be jigged to account for the missing frames but as it stands it sticks out like a sore thumb (for me).

But what you replace it with? It isn't just a case of changing the sound to account for missing frames but how about the missing frames between the two shots of Luke? pretty much impossible because the jump would stick out like a sore thumb. I have been able to fix some missing frames of Luke in the wampa cave where one shot was split in two from the original to add the wampa footage and 5 frames became lost, but that was just 5 frames.

As you can see it would be impossible to remove that shot of Han without causing a major problem.

One question regarding the 14GB version. How can you possibly edit and color correct the video data and go directly from original transports streams to x.264 mkv file without a transcoding process along the way at some point? Especially if you are using Vegas?

The original source was converted to avi using a lossless codec (lagaryth). the colour correction was all done in Adobe after effects in sections. Sony vegas was only used to piece the sections together without any extra encoding. Then megui was used to create the x264 file. I'm a bit confused by your question actually because i have never said that it has gone directly from the source to the x264 mkv

the 14gb version will be a while away yet. I need to wait until my upload limit resets later in the month and also to have 4 days that i can tie my computer up to upload it.

I just found this thread and have to say I love the idea of removing references to Naboo and calling the planet Alderaan. If it can be pulled off, it should be done.

But you would have to remove the end battle from TPM totally for a start. Remember Leia says "Alderaan is peaceful, we have no weapons"  yet the Gungans do and Naboo have starfighters. Then there's the matter of Bail organa. Now in the PT a senator represents the planet. Palpatine is senator for Naboo then becomes chancellor and Padme then takes his place, but Bail is also a senator. There are just too many things that would need to be changed to make Naboo into Alderaan without making the PT even more conflicting with the OT than it is already

An interesting idea about the clouds in ROTJ but there's a slight problem with that idea. We don't see Luke leave Dagobah and there isn't really a place where it could fit. Luke talks to Obi-Wan then we cut to the rebel fleet and the briefing then Luke appears. Adding a shot of Luke leaving in between that wouldn't really work

Ady,

Maybe it's just my monitor, but on the split-screen clip of the Dagobah approach, at about 0:16-0:17 R2's pannels appear to be black.  The pannels are blue in the two or three other shots in the clip.

DarthRayne said:

In the dagobah clip posted a few pages earlier, I thought Artoo looked a little monochrome. Not enough blue to him.

R2's panels are definately blue. If i made them more blue, which they don't need to be, then they would start looking as fake as they do in the SE.

& Ady  I thought you were going to change the all the helmet logos to red  why is dack's still blue

No, that was in ANH only. In ANH they were red squadron but in  ESB they are rougue squadron so no need to change them to red

I agree with the above poster that the AT-ATs need to be spread out a little more on 0:59.  Maybe have the front 2 or 3 AT-ATs shoot in the first volley shot (right after the binoc reveal).  It also looks like the AT-AT on the furthest left doesn't move (looks like it is sitting still)  As a suggestion, you could create 2 "V" patterns of 5 AT-ATs to suggest a formation as opposed to a random group.

And I really wish you would reconsider taking out the red windows.  It would have been really cool to see all of those AT-ATs with the red windows (especially in the close-up head shots; we could have seen Veers and co. inside).  It would really help take away the "modelly" look.

I would also have the snowspeeders from 0:49 to 0:58 go forward and up as opposed to just forward so it doesn't look like they are on tracks.  Also check out 0:22; is that large boxey area underneath Luke's snowspeeder supposed to be there (or is that there for the crane that was lifting the mock-up)?

Notice that the boxey area underneath Luke's SS goes all the way down to the bottom of the wings.  If you watch the fly-over at 1:08 the bottoms are relatively flat.

Also, should there be an extra SS on the right at 1:11 to 1:12?  Everything seems to be bunched to the left of the screen.

ok, i am having to use existing footage of the AT-ATs to add the numbers. Due to their angles spreading them out further starts to look odd as the perspective is thrown out. i may be able to tweak it slightly but not by much.

Also the snowspeeder set piece has that box underneath because that is what the forklift was attached to to make them rise. There is nothing i can do about that

The snowspeeders are all coming from the same direction as they have just come out of the hangar so they would all be coming from the left as they are in formation.

Adding red windows to the AT-Ats would mean that i would have to tint the insides red and fake lighting looks just that.. fake, and i am not prepared to do that, especially when it doesn't need to be done.

Tinting dagobahs atmosphere green is not going to happen. If i were to do something like that then that would mean that all the fog and clouds on dagobah should also be green tinted. Clouds are white and dagobah is covered with them. We see a quick shot of the planet then luke straight away says "yeh, that's it. Dagobah" . So we know which planet it is. I never had a problem with knowing which planet is which for the past 28 years so i see no reason to change them now. Some things just don't need explanation. Thats one of the major problems with the PT. everything seems to get a huge explanation as if the story talks down to the audience because they might be too thick to know what's going on.

One thing you have to remember is that i am not a miracle worker. I can only work with what footage i have available. making the speeders move any differently in the hangar is almost impossible because of other elements in the shot. Removing the box from underneath Lukes speeder is also impossible. as it lifts there is a trooper guiding the speeder out. If i remove the box then he would have no head and no way of replacing it

Nothing with Greivous in it could be OT-ish, Greivous is a character totally at odds with the OT. I very much doubt I would call any of this stuff OT-ish. The movie was even more prequelish than the prequels. I doubt the show could be so different as to be totally on the opposite end of the scale. Modern Hayden-based Anakin, anime-drawn kid, Jar Jar Binks, silly fucking droid troopers, overdone prequelish lightsaber battles, look-isn't-it-cool dark Jedi character, General Greivously Ill-Making... it's not going to be OT-ish.

God just how wrong can you be. I can't believe you can say how crap something is when you haven't even bothered watching it. So many people have told you that its totally different than the Clone wars movie but you say the series can't be "OT-ish" because the movie wasn't. The Anakin character in the series is far removed from the whiny little brat played by Hayden in the prequels. Jar Jar has only been in it once (and that was the only episode i hated). The whole series so far seems more about the characters than the environment, which that alone makes it more OT-ish. God i hated the movie with a vengeance but at least i gave the series a look before i commented about it. And i surprised myself that i'm actually enjoying it.

yeh, thats the thing i was talking about. i just had to change it original design in that shot. The guy uses the same binoculars as Luke does earlier on in the movie yet the viewscreen is completely different.  So that had to be changed. i guess i though some people may ahve a problem because i changed something that they though might not have needed changing.

As for the lasers, there was never any motion blur on the original lasers. the new ones have just been overlaid on top of the old ones.  i didn't add any motion blur to ANH:R so i won't be adding any motion blur to them in ESB & ROTJ

ok here's whats changed:

Luke speeder now has the dark grey panels on the snowspeeder in the hangar to match the model
More At-AT's
Added some troopers firing in the trenches
Added the gun turrets firing with added recoiling motion
New lasers
Removed the red cockpit from the lead AT-AT
New binocular viewscreen to match Lukes seen earlier in movie
Added red panels to snowspeeders in hangar
Added more speeders as they approach the battle to match the following shot

The thing with dagobah is that for a while i was thinking about changing the planet to the one we see in ROTS (deleted scene). But then i realised something. The whole atmosphere is messing about with Luke's sensors and when he enters the atmosphere all his X-Wings controls die on him. He is out of control. Now if the cloud cover wasn't all over like is stands now why wouldn't Luke just head for a calmer area where there is no cloud? Yoda chose that planet for a reason. We see it in the ROTS deleted scene when Yoda arrives there and its got hardly any cloud cover. Now many years later we see it again and its got a turbulent atmosphere. maybe Yoda had something to do with that so he couldn't be found. I don't think that making it look more like it does in ROTS is the right way to go. Changing the planet to show more green would really make Luke look a dumb shit for heading down through a cloud covered area when he could have easily head towards the safer option.

I'm not to keen on after Effects mpeg rendering. Its always best to convert your source to a lossless avi codec (like lagaryth) to do any editing and then export using the same codec. this way you don't lose any quality between renders. The use an external MPEG encoder to do the final render. I used DVD Architect to do my Revisited DVDs. It sounds like you have the bitrate too high when exporting
