Don't forget that sometimes less is more
well yesterday in firefox it was totally screwed up but its fine today. Also just checked it in IE (which i never use so the page isn't in the cache) and its fine also
There was originally more to the Alderaan destruction scene. If you look on the "Empire of Dreams" documentary on the 2004 DVDs they have a scene where they are looking at the viewscreen as Alderaan explodes and then Leia has an extra line.

I know Fishmanlee is no Adywan, but he is a fan just like the rest of us. He simply wants to be more involved, and let's be honest. How many of you have been the one kid in school who kept to himself because everyone else picked on him or excluded him from recess games?
Com'n, be honest. Let's see a show off hands.
We start excluding people from the forums, we'll be no different than the school yard bullies.
he was made very welcome when he came here and people offered their help so he could improve his videos and music edits. he basically told everyone to "shut up" and that he didn't need our help as he "has talent and skillz", as he put it.
If he wants to be more involved then he needs to learn to take criticism and the advise that has been given to him by other members. There has been no evidence of him doing this and you can't expect people to remain tolerant of him if he has this attitude. More and more people will start to ignore him until he holds his hands up and admits that he really doesn't know what he's doing and starts to take the helpful advise members have been giving him. His edits would improve in no time.
This isn't anything like bullying, its just peoples patience wearing very thin.

i have already finished ROTR and am working on ALR now, ALR will not use anything that has been released from ESB:R or anything from it in the future same as ROTJ now the sabers will be re-rotoscoped myself and some audio things added among some of the other things i will do
So, you are not prepared to remove any footage that you used of ANH:R for ROTR, even though i asked you NOT to use ANH:R when you started this edit and posted the preview clip on youtube. At that time you stated it was a planned edit and wasn't finished and i asked you then not to use it after seeing what you were doing. Then you decided to delete all my comments on your videos, giving a bad excuse in saying that i was swearing, and in those comments i asked you not to use my work. You also seem to be deleting anyone else's comments in your videos where they have said about you not stating that the video source was ANH:R and that you were trying to pass it off as your own. Please don't try and lie to me again because you aren't cleaver enough to delete your own comments when you replied to these comments by other people.
You have since deleted any comment i made on your videos.
All you have done is hacked up Star Wars with ROTR with no thought put into it so why is it so difficult for you to redo it before you release it but this time using the official DVDs as a source? How long would it take you to redo what you have done already? by the looks of things 10 minutes.
You call it "Star Wars as you'll never wanna/wansta see it again". That is a pure insult to all the work i have done. There was no reason for you to use my edit for something like this.
fishmanlee, once again you have failed to respect something i asked you to do. So i think i should remind you about something i said in the ESB:R thread...
adywan said:You didn't want to read the word? What, would your head explode or your world collapse if you saw a swear word? yet you seem fine to come into a forum where swearing isn't filtered? What a crock of bull. That's because there was no swearing in my post and you can't back up the argument with the supposed word i used. But even if it did have a swear word then why delete it? Others can have the "swear filter" enabled if they object to swearing and you have it applied so you wouldn't have to see it. Just admit that it was because you didn't like the negative comment i gave and called you out about yet again trying to pass off someone else's work as your own, but with just a few bad cuts. Your edits are just hacked up messes without any thought put into them so i would kindly like to ask you NOT to use any of my footage for your work. It's embarrassing what you are doing to them. Please respect my wishes and use either the GOUT, 2004 DVD's or your own work for your clips and edits.
You do realise that youtubes filter removes words like "hell" & "damn" amongst others don't you? Is that swearing? no
One lie and bad excuse after another to cover your back.
Goodbye.
Could you STOP using Revisited as a basis for your edits. Again you fail to listen to anything anyone says. But you are supposed to have "skillz"? well where are they?
I have given you my reasons why i don't want you using my work for your edits. What you are doing can easily be done with the original versions of Star Wars. There is no need whatsoever to use the Revisited version. I won't ask you as politely again
Don't make me angry. you wouldn't like me when i'm angry ;)
I'm working on the space garbage scene where slave 1 follows the falcon. It fixes the problem of why didn't the Falcon detect Slave 1 following it so close. It's a nightmare the amount of rotoscoping i'm having to do to matte the garbage alone. And i've been able to keep in the added SE shot of Slave 1, so things are going well
It's been delayed. I'm too busy with some Fx shots for ESB:R. I want to get these ones all finished while the ideas are still fresh in my mind, then i'l get to ripping the audio.
Darth Venal said:Did you have a chance to see my test shots for the Alderaan destruction? I'd love to get an expert opinion. Honesty is appreciated, I'm a big boy, I can handle it. *eek*
haven't had a chance to read through whats been happening in the forum lately because i'm back to work on the FX shots for ESB:R
Darth Venal said:I'd love to hear all your insights, but if you don't want to do a commentary, why not type up a detailed breakdown of your changes and reasons behind them - all the stuff you'd say in a commentary without having to do one. A time-coded style breakdown, for all us nerds to show our kids why professional film-makers don't always know best...
Thats the main reason i'm not keen on doing a commentary. I just wouldn't know what to talk about most of the time. I'm more of a visual than a word type of guy.
Even if this does happen it will only be as a NTSC DVD-5 as i don't see the need to download another huge version again for just a few very minor alterations.
The one change that would be happening would be re-adding the spinning starfield. Things have changed with what i planned with ESB:R when doing ANH:R and the spinning starfield needs to return
And i won't be removing the trade federation droid.
This may not even happen yet. I'm not keen on doing a commentary.
ChainsawAsh, hate to disappoint you but everything on the list, apart from maybe #1, will not be changed for the v2 release
Maybe next year, after ESB:R is finished, i may do a V2 of ANH:R with a few very minor changes with a commentary track.
Monroville said:I will post the info from tehparadox MKV files tomorrow, but the ones I am having problems with are the ones in the correct aspect (1280x720p). The TS files of MOTEL HELL and THE GATE (1440x1080i) transferred perfectly and play without any problems. It is the actual conversion of the MKV files that is the issue, since THE GATE and MOTEL HELL were already in the TS format. It's GETTING to the TS format that is my issue.
I also know that the ALIEN and HOWARD THE DUCK MKV files are in the 5.1 format - I tried converting them to 4.0 and 4.1. 4.0 seems to result in an unplayable video file, whereas the 4.1 results in a green bar appearing on the bottom of the image, with the movie shoved to the upper part of the screen. I will take some screen caps to show you what I mean later on...
I can see what your problem is right there Monroville. These files are level 5.1 which the PS3 will not play. TSMuxer will only attempt to change the level to 4.1 it cannot fully convert it. It will work with some files but it all depends on how the original was encoded. If you are muxing a HD file to Blu-Ray DVD-9 it has to conform strictly to the HD vertical resolution (720 or 1080) if the black bars have been cropped then there is no video data for the black areas and the PS3 will shift the video to the top part of the screen and the bottom section will have the green bar. The way around this is just to use TSMuxer to convert the mkv to a TS file then burn it to a DVD as a data file then the PS3 will play it without shifting the image and it will not have the green bar.
Your best bet instead of wasting DL-DVD's is to mux a small section of the video first (using tsmuxers split and cut feature) and popping it on a usb stick or external hard drive to test on the PS3. If the video is level 5.1 then there's a strong possibility that you will have to re-encode the video first to get it to work but TSMuxer is successful in many cases.
Darth Venal said:I do hope you meant those sentiments you expressed before about giving him another chance.
yes, i do still mean that. I'm always willing to give people a second chance. i even gave janskeet a second chance after he was banned and was keeping him in the credits, that is until he said he would donate more to my EPV edit if i could get him re-instated on these boards. Bribary is one thing i will not tolerate.
that's what caused the confusion and after checking all the emails you sent me i did spot the two different names so edited my posts to remove my suspicions that you were one and the same person. the one thing i didn't like was how the first email mr ghostface sent he heaped praise upon my edit and what i achieved then came in here and started slating it. I didn't like being lied to just to get my help.
Things are going well with me , although a pretty hectic schedule that is all my fault. lol
Having seen some of Darth venal's matte work i can assure everyone here that they are amazing
Now onto mr ghostface
I think wires got a bit crossed when you said that the work i had done was "simple" I, along with others, thought you were talking about all the FX work using elements from the other movies. This is why i challenged you to show us what you can do if it was so easy. It seems now that you were talking about digital editing, which with todays software it is a pretty simple task once you get to know how to use the software. One thing that did surprise me however was how you seemed to slate fan edits and editors and that the things we are doing is highly illegal ,yet it now comes to light that you are working on an edit yourself.
i have no problem with you or what you said in here whatsoever. And i really look forward to see your video work. But you do need to cut out a bit of the "holier than thou" type of attitude you started to show ,mr Ghostface if you are planning on doing an edit and sharing amongst people here. I was very surprised how disrespectful you came across towards me and my work when you heaped praise upon my work when you asked for help with your work with Darth Venal. When you are doing an edit of the Star Wars films you will need to be able to take a hell of a lot of flack from people who don't agree with things you are doing. You'd be amazed at some of the hateful emails and Pm i have got just from doing ANH:R. You just learn to accept it. Hell i even received a few death threats but none of that is stopping me doing what i want. No one in their right mind would think that they can produce something that 100% of the people will like cuz that will never happen.
These edits are just my visions, as are the edits of the other fan editors. They are never meant to replace the original 70's & 80's versions. They are just a fun alternative.
best of luck with your edit. One thing you will realise as you progress though is that it isn't as easy as you think. If you are creating new shots with mattes, CG or even using existing elements from other footage that getting the shots finished is one thing, and thats hard enough, but getting them to fit in with the existing footage is another. it really isn't that simple.
I replied to your last email but never heard anything back. Loved your mattes by the way. You should make a thread to show off the work you have done especially the ones you showed me. I hope you found my input helpful :)
Darth Venal, are you the person that sent me the bespin, Jabba's palace and other mattes a while ago?
yes, i'll be geting the audio off my mates laserdisc sometime this week and it should be available this weekend at the latest
EyeShotFirst said:Adywan are you going to do anything about the sabers. I sound a little whiny but those sabers are killing me.
The cores wil be back to being white but i won't be doing anything about the thickness because that's how they appeared originally
Loving your artwork cov :)
AOTC may be coming soon..... but this is coming sooner.......... (but still a couple of months away yet, i'm afraid)
Monroville said:I would also suggest putting a time code on the bottom black bar area so when someone writes a critque they can post the time (minute: seconds) as to the movie element being written about.
Also, whoever is selected to do the task make sure to keep your finger on the pause button! >:)
yeh, it will be timecoded and watermarked

Like Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi, Lucas went back and made color adjustments to the Special Edition releases. With Empire he went blue and A New Hope he went Red. With A New Hope, the bland black and white universe dominated by the Empire had suddenly become more colorful. Some of the scenes were overly hot adding a reddish hue and laserblasts were now a hot pink?!. WTF... I tried to clean up some of those issues. I didn't want to get tied up in some sort or obsessed "restoration" because I am only a little crazy. I tried to "fix" the pink/magenta laser blasts with either red or white depending on what seemed closer to the frame on the original theatrical versions. I didn't do a frame by frame through the entire movie however so I know I missed a few. I wanted to take away the obviousness of them so watching the scenes with a lot of laser blasts you shouldn't really notice anything except the action on the screen- no pink pops. Again, this is NOT an extensive restoration and against popular belief these blurays are NOT "color corrections" I never said they were. They are simple adjustments here and there. No one knows for sure what "correct" even means and should never claim so.
For this release I mainly dialed back on the overall red saturation trying to bring the color tone closer to what appeared natural to me like I did 3 years ago on the original release. I felt the majority of the feature looked pretty good and I did leave a lot of things as is because I liked the punch of color. Even though I had already visited the high def saga back in 2007 with several of these adjustments- this go around is my preferred versions because I went much deeper than before and never quit felt happy, not to mention Han does shoot Greedo first as I have always done. These things seem kind of trivial now since several have imitated this technique over the past couple years but up until now no one has actually threw the bits at it to fully enjoy it all on a real home theater system in a convenient "just hit play" format.
In the audio department I dug up an old laserdisc capture I had laying around and extracted the center channel dialog and pulled out all of Darth Vaders dialog and plopped it into this release. I also replaced the sound Obi-wan made when he first appeared to scare away the Sandpeople. So basically, these blurays are still the new Special Editions with what should be minimal "transparent" tweaks. And like the rest of this project I am the first to provide a full uncompressed isolated music score that is now becoming a new standard in home brew releases as I see it is now popping up in other posters releases now after the fact.
I have been toying with the idea of seamless branching the prequels on bluray to offer selectable theatrical and extended cut editions using upscaled deleted scenes from the DVD's. But due to current events that may be put on hold indefinitely. Or, to gain popularity I will release the entire saga again and call it "Wookie Groomers Star Wars Saga Redux" and replace all the actors with Lego characters from the video games and add ice cream cones into the space battles with pixie sticks as the laser blasts... Maybe I can find a place for Batman in there too... Oh, I think I'll add a hat to Chewbacca too because Lucas was crazy to not give Chewbacca a hat.
i have to say that this is not the Wookiegroomer i once respected. The bitterness and digs are childish. Wookiegroomer why not just come straight out with it and say who you are taking a dig at. "Wookiegroomers Star Wars Saga Redux"? Redux -Revisited, not tio hard to work out what you are really talking about really now is it? Especially since the last dig at me you gave in your previous blu-ray nfo.
You say that you have never called any of your versions "colour corrected" well maybe you should go back and read what you wrote in my thread when i was first working on my 1080p versions. You stated "What's wrong with my colour corrected versions?" Well as i stated back then they weren't colour corrected at all. All you did was desaturate the movie slightly. Slight delusions of grandeur about the isolated score too WG. You talk as if you were the first to start the isolated score on home brew releases and that everyone is copying you. As you well know this is not the fact.
I love the way you say that you "dug up" an old laserdisc capture you had lying around so you could take the centre channel for vaders voice. Especially strange since you once mentioned that previously available 5.1 versions were just upmixes. I guess with all the bitterness you couldn't bear to say which persons laserdisc 5.1 capture you used for this.
You seem to want to win some sort of imaginary popularity contest and don't like it lately if you're not worshipped by everyone. Why has all this come about? You were once highly respected but that is fading fast with your recent outbursts.
Isn't competition between editors a good thing though? Why slate another editor for doing something in a similar vein, but at the same time being different? If you are doing these just to be popular and for the praise then you are doing it for the wrong reasons. They should always be for you. If you are happy with them then who cares what someone else says because you have achieved what you wanted to do. If you can't take criticism or any form of competition then maybe you should do what you have stated you will do when someone criticized your ROTJ in that it was out of synch and just drop the projects for good. It seems that they are stressing you out and that is not good.
It is a dark time for me because you was someone that i highly respected and looked up to, but no longer.
